Just a comment at least with respect to Hwy MPG. I have a 2018 XLT with 3.5EB engine FX4 with extended range tank; long range Hwy driving 20-21 mpg at 70mph.
36 gallon tank x 20 mpg = 720 Hwy range.
City mpg getting 18-19 mpg. Avg. 600 miles run from full tank.
From cost perspective: if not regularly hauling or towing weights at limit of truck, the 2.7 EB is the best.
Not to mention 2.7 the cost, 2.7 is around $42k while hybrid start around $50k.

I’ve found most trucks get amazing mileage below up to 65 mph. At 70, normally see a 1.5-2 mpg reduction. At 71-75, another 1.5-2 and at 80 you’ll see 15-16 mpg.
The best mileage I’ve seen is diesel Ram and GM trucks at higher speeds. Not sure if this is the torque pressing through the drag better?
I’d like to see a 2.7 with a much larger battery with a range of 50-75 miles ev only.

I own 2021 lariat powerboost and 2022 eco (3.5) xlt. During winter in 4H powerboost destroys regular 3.5(none-hybrid) no comparison. In 2H they are very similar in mixed driving. In all highway driving regular 3.5 can get even better mpgs if you coast and drive above 55+ . For me powerboost after 55+ stays around 24 mpgs. While eco 3.5 can get 24-27. From 40-55 mph they are about even. However, if you drive city ( stop and go traffic) hybrid can get 18-22 depending how well you coast and how smooth you accelerate not going above 1.5k rpm. Hybrid will destroy regular 3.5, the 3.5 will yield for me around 14-16 (city/easy on throttle not loaded) while powerboost 18-22. Also, regular 3.5 is much harder to drive eco friendly while powerboost is easier to be smoother with. In summary if you do a lot of 55+ driving do not waste money for hybrid, unless you live in snowy states and use 4h a lot. If you do mostly city driving get hybrid in real WMPG the difference is around 4-5 mpg to me, its a lot with 150$ gas tanks.

I get 28 to 32mpgs on my 80 mile drive to work every day, all highway, and 80 miles home.
This week I got 1,007.4 miles to my one 30.6gal tank.
There is so many variables, terrain, temperature, driving style,...etc.
What speed was that? 45 mph? That seems incredible for highway speeds!

I've gotten great mpg's on the highway but where the hybrid makes a difference is in the city. I've been getting 23.1 hand calculated in the city, much better than my previous 2.7 which is a great engine. Around town, it goes into electric mode more often than gas. I never drive in Eco mode in the city but for longer highway drives, Eco mode works best for MPG's and especially with adaptive cruise.

To me the hybrid is worth it for the ProPower onboard alone. Plus the extra HP.
All of the f150 models for 2021 have the pro power onboard

Good point. I only got the 2.4k stock on mine that i ordered but i wish i got the 7kw, I'm kicking myself. Damn dealership told me they couldn't edit my order since it was already in production

@@danielmadera1144 depends on charge time for me. I live in a condo so we wouldnt be allowed to install a home charger. But that added hood trunk space on the electric is amazing!
I have the king ranch fx4 with the powerboost. If I am doing 65 mph on the hwy I get 27 mph but at 70 mph I get 23ish. It definitely starts drinking more once you get above 65-70. Driving around town I average around 26-27 but I tried once to get the best mpg I could and averaged 30.7. That is not practical around other people. Unless you just like to piss people off haha.

I’ve been averaging 21.2 mpg with my 2019 2.7 on eco mode around town. I got 24+ from NJ to VA back to NJ.

The F150 Lightning will get about 75 mpge……
Unfortunately, electric power is far less energy dense than gasoline, so even at your 75 MPGe estimate, the 230 mile standard range Lightning will only get 149.5 total miles range (using Ford's recommended 15% to 80% discharge levels), and after that 149.5 miles, the standard range battery will need 44 minutes to charge using DC fast charging, from 15% to 80%. Past 80% charge, the charging speed slows down farther. As much as I REALLY want the Lightning to be the better truck, that range and charging time is terrible! The extended range battery back (300 to 320 miles total, depending on trim) does improve things a little bit (assuming 320 mile range, it would get 208 miles from 15% to 80%, and take 41 minutes to recharge), but it's also an extra $20,000.
30 Mpg will be great
OK--but I literally set cruise at 89-MPH on our trip up north each weekend with my EB 3.5. Will the PB beat my 3.5 EB--which still gets 15x at those speeds.

The EPA tests are done at an average of 48mph. Which is, not realistic. At 75-80MPH, I get between 12 and 17mpg.
I like my ‘18 2.7 f150 but it must be a bad one. I have NEVER averaged over 18 mpg. I don’t abuse it but I don’t baby it either.

I get 24.3 if I drive on the HWY at 70 miles per hour on my 2021 chevy Silverado 2.7.
At 75 I get 22
At 80 I get 20
I only paid 38k plus Fee’s, I will get the new 2022 Chevy 1500 Dirtymax, most of my customers get 30MPG with big Fat tires.

I was bying a new F150 every year or two they used to average 15 miles to the gallon on the hwy. in 2011 I bought a 3.5 eco boost, I could baby it and get 24 or 25 on the hwy. But if I drove hard with traffic it would average 19, Then I got a 2.7 eco boost, Fast little motor, about the same on gas but sounded like a sick sewing machine, One day I pulled the oil cap off and it sounded like a rod knocking, Took it to the dealer & they said they ALL SOUND LIKE THAT" Got rid of it and bought a 2018 with a 5.0, Had a flowmaster with dual pipes put on it and it sounds great, I have had it 4 years now if I baby it on the hwy. i can get 27 or 28 miles to the gallon , If I drive it hard I get 22 or 23, Best truck I have ever had, By the way it's an FX 4 4X4, I think it's my last truck, The way the price has went up on the new ones, Just my 2 cents.

The hybrid really needs to step it up for efficiency. It has cool perks with that electric pack but my 2.7L EB can tag 21.5 mpg assuming I’m on the highway cruising at 65ish and not climbing hills and running all season tires. For how expensive the hybrid is I’m not convinced this is a smart purchase if you already have a somewhat newer F150. It makes me really think about the Sierra and Ram eco diesel options since they add 4-6 mpg on highways in real world tests compared to this hybrid.
If Ford can offer a hybrid with 27+ on highways not towing that’s where the tech makes sense for people trading in for new trucks (or newer trucks).
Even the new Lightning is very unimpressive for first generation EV. But it’ll get better and in 3 years we’ll all be laughing at hybrids now
He tested the Sierra 1500 AT4 Limited with 3.0 Duramax and got same MPG. And that diesel has 277hp, this 450hp. So, no point in diesel.
Can you do a 5.0 with the 3.73 rear end ? Would like to see how the rear end affects the mpg’s
I have that setup. I get about 21 highway during summer conditions and average about 18.6 to 18.8.
It is the PowerBoost 4x4, so it has the 3.73 rear end. Just to help clarify anything on this truck, I didn't see him mention it in the video
@@maverick042121 Can confirm, mine is like that as well, best I've did was 10.4 L/100km (23 MPG) going 90-110 kmh (55-65 mph). Going to east coast here in Canada on a normal highway going 110-130 (70-80) was getting 10.7 L/100 km (22 MPG) hand calculated on a 4200 kms (2500 mile) trip
I sold my 3.5 for a Ram Ecodiesel. I’m getting 28 on the freeway. 👍

Hi Charlie, As repeated tests have shown, highway mpg is really not that impressive with this F-150 Hybrid.

(Apples and oranges, I know, but our 2021 Rav4 Hybrid gets 44-46 around town, high 30s on the highway. Hand figured. My old Escalade gets 10-12 towing 2,500 pounds, my old F-350 7.3 4wd crew cab dually gets 11-13 towing 7,000 pounds.)

for a lot people interested in the hybrid, it's not about MPG all the time, its about CO2 emissions and the hybrid has less CO2 emission than the 2.7

Hybrid and EV vehicle production emits radically more c02 than regular gas powered cars. In either case the gas powered vehicle has less emissions until they both reach around 35-55k miles. After that, yes you are right. But now we've turned every new, undriven EV/hybrid sitting in a parking lot to a 30-50k mile emissions producer before the counter starts.. then they're still producing a lot of emissions, albeit less, with coal and nuclear and ngas powered electricity or Petro gas itself. Electric is better but it's still bad overall. Hydrogen powered is what we should be doing, like the Toyota Mirai.

Doubt it’ll be as fuel efficient since they don’t run turbos for reliability. So not as good towing if they go down and dont use the 5.7 but I’d like to see what they do would be nice competition if they re do the interior on a higher model
Here we are one year later, and no Toyota Tundra hybrid yet. But in other Toyota news, they just had to recall their first battery electric vehicle and advise owners to stop driving it because THE WHEELS MIGHT FALL OFF. Unbelievable.
With the price of "Premium Fuel", you'd be better off buying a diesel option in a truck, Silverado/Sierra both get 28-31MPG consistently, Even a Gladiator Eco-Diesel achieves 28-30MPG......
But it also costs a lot more for the diesel compared to you can a powerboost in a base model ford

They have nowhere near the power of a PB though. I owned a 3.0 diesel it got upper 20s, but it was a dog. Towed OK, got up to speed limit very slow though while towing.
Suggest you rewatch your video and pay attention to your voice's audio level. The chirping-like highs are distracting and the trailing words in some sentences all but disappear. You will want your videos to be perceived as professional; a bit of voice training or at least attention being given to your voice delivery would help.
