Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm under the impression that him paying hush money isn't the issue, but the fact that he used campaign funds to do so is what was illegal.
The Federal Election Commission whose monitor campaigns spending didn’t pursue charges after investigation in 2021. Besides, he not the only politician to pay hush money to people. (Look up Senator Menedez bribery case and how he’s still in office. But, Congressman Sanchez was accused of lying but was kicked out of office. Congresswoman Cortez had campaign spending issues as well no prosecution from NewYork.) But, somehow Trump is the issue when the defendant witness told Trump don’t worry about it I’ll take care of it. Michael Cohen admitted to being the one that did it, while stealing 60k from him. This isn’t a state issue. It’s a federal issue once Trump ran for a federal office not state, but federal chose not to prosecute him with the same evidences. If incorrect book is a problem, then isn’t it the IRS job to do an audit and fine him? Trump hired other people to accounting and book related responsibilities. Isn’t it on the accountants and staff for the fraud? If not then, it opens the door for all businesses to be sued and shutdown, which impact the economy. None of what they the machine is doing making any sense legally. State cannot prosecute Federal things. And vice versa. Otherwise what the point in separation of states and federal laws?
