Last year, I had to renew my passport, and I sent the then expiring passport in, along with my application. I received acknowledgment, along with the information that it would be ready in 3 weeks.
That time expired, and I looked online, where the waiting time had changed to, if I remember correctly, 3 months! I had just read Professor Timothy Snyder's book: "On Tyranny", which detailed what happens in a dictatorship, and had also advised Americans to travel to other countries to see how things are there. I can only assume that many people had read his book and were taking his advice seriously!

I hope at least one of the major networks can find a way to replay the Jan.6 committee hearing starting, say early September.
Fear for our safety and freedom can be paralyzing. We must find a way to level the field and stop the purging of our voter rolls.
This Supreme Court is a court in which a Justice, who is still on that court, told a G.O.P. senator in 2020, the year of a presidential election, that he was thinking of leaving the court because he didn't make enough money, then Right Wing billionaires started befriending that Justice and giving him gifts, including a recreational vehicle costing more than a quarter of a million dollars. Buying his mother's home, renovating it, and letting her continue to live there rent-free for years. Paying for that justice's elaborate vacations, all to a value of more than $4 million!
It doesn't end there! Very briefly, another Justice currently on the Supreme Court had property listed for sale for two years, then when he was confirmed to the Court, he quickly got a buyer! That buyer is head of a law firm which frequently has cases before the Supreme Court; in fact they appeared before the Court in 22 cases in the years after that land deal!
Or how about the Justice, whose wife has a deal leasing 160 acres of land to an energy company, for a percentage of the profits, and who has ruled against the EPA a number of times? Even reversing a law signed by President Obama to protect the environment? By the way, this Justice also has received approximately a million dollars worth of gifts!
Then there's the Justice whose wife recruits attorneys for law firms which frequently appear before the Supreme Court, and has been paid more than $5 million doing so. Do those law firms receive extra consideration from the Court?
Thomas has had Harlan Crowe showering him with trips since the mid 1990s. Several weeks before a company Crowe was affiliated with was due to go before the Supreme Court. Crowe showered Thomas with trips on his yacht and private jet. When that case came up,Thomas didn't recuse,and the case went towards Crowe company favor. Thomas has been doing this for quite awhile!

Growing our judiciary is not a Republican Party vs. Democratic Party issue. It is an increased population issue. It is an expanded geographic territory issue. It is an urbanization issue. It is a caseload vs. workforce issue. A pragmatic structural analysis comparing the First Circuit to the Ninth Circuit, the number of Circuits to the number of Supreme Court Justices and the extensive backlog of cases at every level provides observable, measurable proof our judicial system is fractured. We need a seismic retrofit.

Question: if Thomas were to be found guilty of failure to recluse would that invalidate any decision in which he perticipated and therefore permit that decision to be automatically revisited on the basis that the decision is corrupt ?

But I believe that America - in the congregate - has forgotten what real totalitarianism, real authoritarianism and real facsism is about. We all have to give up our free will, our opinions, and our poltical selves and bend a knee to the dear leader. America has talked about that - where other less democratic nations are concerned - in the past, but now they are going to experience what Iran, Iraq and other Theocratic countries have always done - disappearing reporters, disappearing dissidents, turning on women, immigrants, abandoning their obligations to the less fortunate, the disabled, the mentally ill - all of it. I have been in panic mode having anxiety attacks ever since before Jan 6. I got up that morning looking for footage because of the crazy comments leading up to it. That was way off the wall to me. It makes me so mad when the news just shine this mess on. I feel most were not worried because the wanted it to happen or because the were white, they knew that they would be safe. I kept saying, "I know that the Heavenly Father would not let this get any worst but. it has. Main Street News participated in how this all was played out, as they reported with a silly azz grins on their faces while they flirted with horrible Trump and other characters and the ills that they had done or was in the act of doing. Surely, there were people screaming through bull horns and waving receipts in the air. I could hear them loud and clear but most days, months, now years...my anxieties and fears have turn into what I feared most...It is now a reality.
