    Just ordered to replace an older 24f that i have that potted and 100% working. I like the connections and heatsink option.

    The versatility of this controller is that it can work with any bldc motors with a rated power of up to 8 kW, and not just with a surron motor. And it can also be configured quite easily and quickly from the screen, which shows energy consumption and speed, that is, a wattmeter and speedometer are not needed separately.

      Yup...same for VESC options. This isn't unique to jsut Nukular.

    The website could definitely be clearer but actually building your own custom harness with connectors means wiring can be really tidy. No massive cheap connectors hanging about like you get on a Fardriver for example. I know you can chop them off but starting from crimps and pins makes for a professional finish imo. The older 24f is fantastic so can only imagine this is just as good if not better.

      @de-bodgery  Рік тому +1

      I make my own cables for that reason. I don't mind not having included harnesses. The important part is the connectors and pins. I would however double the number of included pins so that people have spares. I'm running 2 of the older ones. They are doing OK. This new design will have superior thermal characteristics and that will probably boost it's power a good bit.

      JWPF connectors are from JST. Bafang sometimes would use them, along with other ebike manufacterers.@@de-bodgery

    Russians tend to be very direct with what they say. It can come off as off putting if you're not used to it.

    Do these guys use VESC or have they built their FOC control in-house?

    • @de-bodgery
      @de-bodgery  6 місяців тому

      Inhouse and not VESC. Same CPU, but that's it.

    Have you had any desire to tear down the orange wire 24f? May be willing to donate. But yeah. The older version is 24f. New version is p24f. And hopefully their product can get the recognition it needs in the US. Provided it is up to standards for the industry. Their support from employees is better than anything I’ve ever experienced. As well as support from die hard users volunteering their own time, knowledge, and experience from across the globe. Their products may have problems or issues from time to time. But nucular does what’s right every time that I’ve seen. My orange wire 24f is just amazing. I have put it through the wringer and it keeps asking for more. Anyway. Thanks for all the videos and your expertise.

      I don't know what the "orange wire 24f" is. I've already done a tear down on the 24F. I'll get around to doing the P24F after a while. In the middle of moving...no time right now!

    How does this stack up against the torp tc500? I hear nucular’s customer service is bar none, but the torp is VESC. Trying to decide which option is the best route for my surron 🙏

    • @de-bodgery
      @de-bodgery  Рік тому +1

      Torp is stolen VESC and it's locked down so you can't program anything. I did a teardown of the TC500. did you watch them? Before I bought a Torp, Id buy something that is legit (not stolen) VESC. What will happen after a while is court action will be taken against Torp and they will be fined heavily and forced to stop selling controllers. THere is a lot of legit VESC options out there and frankly that's the best thing to get.

      I did watch your videos which is why I have changed my mind on torp. I love the aesthetics of the nucular p24f, but I was told that it is antiquated and I should go with something VESC instead. The main two players that are VESC that I had heard of are torp and ebmx. I honestly dislike the aesthetics of the x9000 so I figured the torp should be good enough. After watching your videos on it I have changed my mind. Is there that major of a difference between a VESC controller and something like a p24f? I love the aesthetics but I am also looking for the best overall experience. I am not super technologically proficient and idk how I would get a standard VESC controller to work for my surron while remaining user friendly. What are the main differences between VESC and non-VESC controllers? Are they noticeable differences as well, or would they only be noticeable under watchful eye?

    • @de-bodgery
      @de-bodgery  Рік тому +1

      @@selfdiscoveryandtranscendence P24f is a few changes over the P24. It's still TO-220 based, just they are laid flat on the heat sink instead of being screwed to heat spreaders. Heat transfer ought to be a little better, but power should be the same otherwise. It's effectively the P24 in a different shell. VESC isn't just one option. The Russian company Nukular is the only source for their controllers. VESC is a solution that is developed by many companies. As a result you have cheap stuff like Spintend and Flipsky or you have really good stuff like Tronic, SHUL, Trampa and Team Tri Force and some middle of the road stuff like MakerX or CYC. VESC is open source and anyone can develop their own controller for the platform. VESC sees rapid development from all over the world thanks to thousands of people developing for the platform. Other options such as Nukular, kelly, ASI, etc, has 1 or 2 people doing all the work. VESC has gone from 0 to dominating the controller market thanks to being open source and so widely developed faster than anything else. Everything from e-scooters to locomotives now run VESC!

    • @selfdiscoveryandtranscendence
      @selfdiscoveryandtranscendence Рік тому +1

      So would you advise against the Nucular in favor of something VESC seeing that there will likely be program updates in the future? If equipping to a surron, what controller would you choose given what is available in this current market? How does a VESC controller interface with the rider? Through a phone app or through a website? Would you be able to make adjustments easily on the fly, or would you end to tune for some time before finding the sweet spot of what’s right? While Nucular is only for the surron/talaria, isn’t that advantageous for those vehicles, or is something with more broad capabilities better by default? I appreciate your help and I value your knowledge and expertise greatly. I really support what you do. The market for ev controllers is super difficult for beginners like me to navigate, and your takedown videos really educate a lot. You are providing great clarity to people like me and it is much appreciated

      @de-bodgery  Рік тому +2

      @@selfdiscoveryandtranscendence Nucular build quality is pretty good. Components used is pretty good...as good as say Tronic, Trampa or Tri Force. It even riuns the STM32F405 just like anything VESC does. I bet with some firmware tweaking to account for how Nukular uses the CPU pinout, that VESC would run on a Nuk. Hardware wise Nukular is pretty solid. It's a little dated, but not a bad design. Probably the single biggest hardware flaw is they have no current sensors on the phases. Nuk senses battery current and then calculates for phase current. Phase current sensors is the better method and that's what VESC does.
      ***
      I'm not sure what you are asking about VESC interfacing with the rider? You can use your phone or get a DavegaX LCD. EBMX sells a version of Eggrider that works with VESC. If that's what you mean?
      ***
      VESCtool runs on your phone and so you can do whatever tuning you need from there or via the Windows app on your laptop. Tuning on anything FOC is always a case of the wizard getting you close and then you tweak some to get it perfect.
      ***
      There is no such thing as a controller "for only surron". Put it on whatever you want. it's just a controller! Despite Torp insisting their controllers are "surron only", it's total BS! It's just a controller and that is all there is to it!
      ***
      I will always recommend VESC over everything else. It's the best platform with the most features, the most development and the most controller options by 10X over everything else!

      REally? This controller is using To-220 not TOLL? I know how to do that, but that's suprising. I guess that would explain why they say "plate method". Vasilly bragged I was so wrong. Not much to brag about IMHO.

      @@de-bodgery New-clear is the correct way, however many people incorrectly say nook-you-ler (aka Nucular).
      It’s a pretty common mistake and I believe the owner chose it as a playful reference to that, as well as the high power small form factor of these controllers.
      This spelling also makes for a unique business name, which won’t be confused with real nuclear.
