I just picked up a Rockwell 6s tonight. Got a great deal on it. Perfect shape. Guy said it was only used one time. Got it for 50 bucks. I'm certainly excited. I'll be disinfecting it thoroughly of course. Im just getting started with safety razors and have yet to shave with one. Ive been forging and using my own straight razors for a couple decades. Ive been watching a lot of the wet shaver videos, and find myself making a list of things that sound like i would enjoy them, mainly soaps and blades to try. Though after seeing your video of the blackland dart, I ended up buying one of them lol. Which may be arriving tomorrow. And right after posting this comment, I'll be sure to hit the sub button. Love your vids and will be watching a lot more.
Rockwell 6S is my number 1 razor. Blackland Dart is another great razor too. Thanks for watching and also for leaving such a great comment. Cheers. Kevy 😀👍
I will have to replicate this shave kevy as I have everything you used. My last shave was with the Castle forbes Lavender and I bloomed it first. I used the bloom water as a preshave and it lathered well. I didn't think I had much cream on the brush which was my new Executive ultimate G4 but it went berserk!! There was lather flying everywhere!! I wanted a heavier lather as it was the first use of my mild Outlaw. Great soap though!! Best wishes to you and yours, Dave.
Cheers Kevy! Congrats on a bonus win fall with Castle Forbes! The more I observe the 6S, the more I want one. It was very sporting, and generous of the Suffolk Shaver to gift you the aftershave! I am hoping the week's festivities have been momentous, but there were no photos this time. I hope this included a lap dance for the birthday boy. Lavender's relaxing aroma grabs me by the short, and curlies too. I would have fallen asleep in the middle of the shave. The coming episodes should prove interesting since there's plenty left from the Great American Haul to explore. Enjoy your evening mate!
ALEX De Leon Thanks Alex. The days post birthday have been filled with joy, adventure, hilarity and of course some sleep! Any pics would only incriminate myself and Mrs. Kevy! Lol!The Castle Forbes was good, great scent. I'm liking the feel of the Rockwell 6S, feels lovely to shave with. The Suffolk shaver is one helluva man!! Cheers mate 😀 Kevy
Great video Kevy, thanks. I'm new to wet shaving but I already love it. So much better than cartridge razors. Anyway I have the 6S and I really like it. Solid build quality, feels great in the hand and quite versatile with the adjustable settings. I'm still experimenting with the different settings but I think I found the best for me is on 4. I tried it on 1, 3 & 6 and I think I got the best shave using 4.
Kevy - I'm really surprised that such a highly reviewed, expensive shaving cream adds triethanolamine. It's a somewhat controversial ingredient. According to Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triethanolamine "It is a common ingredient in formulations used for both industrial and consumer products..found in liquid laundry detergents, dishwashing liquids, general cleaners, hand sanitizers, polishes, metalworking fluids, paints, shaving cream and printing inks. A 1996 study found that triethanolamine (TEA) occasionally causes contact allergy. TEA causes an increased incidence of tumor growth in the liver in female B6C3F1 mice, but not in male mice or in Fischer 344 rats.[ A 2004 study concluded "TEA may cause liver tumors in mice via a choline-depletion mode of action and that this effect is likely caused by the inhibition of choline uptake by cells, A 2009 study found that TEA has potential acute, sub-chronic and chronic toxicity properties in respect to aquatic species, TEA is listed under Schedule 3, part B of the Chemical Weapons Convention as it can be used in the manufacture of nitrogen mustards, particularly HN3" Further reading: www.naturaveda.com/pages/the-dangers-of-triethanolamine This ingredient is used in many products but one would think that for the price they're charging for the cream, it could be replaced with something else.

I have the LEA Classic Shaving Cream in a metal tub, but if you refer to C&F I have the lavender cream. I am not familiar with the respective aftershaves, but at some point....
Roberto S. Gerometta Sorry Roberto, yes, I was referring to the CF cream. I don't seem to have seen much of the Lea cream in a metal tub. Ha ha, we'll both try the CF aftershaves at some point! 👍
Hi mate , yes that cream is heavily pushed by executive shaving in glasgow - very nice company to deal with , Brian's a true gent to deal with , even communicated with me when he was on holiday when i had a problem. . Thumbs up brian if you frequent here . I have been tempted to buy some of the cream .... cheers kevy . btw lavender is known for making you sleepy ... i spray it on my dog to calm him down when he gets frisky - he normally falls asleep shortly after . It looked like a blood bath kevy .... maybe try a 5 ??
Technically Brilliant I'm planning a trip through to check out Executive shaving sometime. It did look like Sweeney Todd a bit! I wanted to test the razor out on the most aggressive setting. I think I'll use it on 1 the next time. Great story about your dog with the lavender! Lol!Cheers. Kevy 👍
I love lavender and I love me some castle forbes. I think there are other lavenders that have more slickness and are at least half the price....but, I still dig my cf lavender and the lime.
I just opened my Lavender Castle Forbes today to have a bit of a sniff! I love it. It is a higher end cream but the packaging and scent along with the performance is great. I've only tried a sample of the lime but that was great too. Cheers. Kevy 😀
Nice one Kevy, and good to see you having a go with the #6 plate. 😌 It might not have been the slickest soap but still a great Kevy-Style lather 😌👏 I saw someone try the #1 plate, you'll need to be patient, it took many many passes for the chap to remove his stubble. I hope you and Mrs P have enjoyed your birthday weekend 💐 Have you tried stretching your skin down going over your trouble spot (fingertips pulling down at the base of your neck) ? I do a lot of skin stretching, especially since I've started using the shavette and it really helps going over my trouble spots, reduces the number of weepers, and eliminates the dreaded judder. 😌
Dave C thanks Dave. The 6 plate wasn't as bad as I'd feared! I'm going for the number 1 plate the next time I use it. Just to get a contrast as to how mild it might be. The cream was great smelling but sadly not the slickest I've used. Cheers. Kevy👍
Kevy Shaves, You're totally right Kevy, something you want to do off camera. It took me a while to "get it", when I first started, I though it was just a matter of using your fingers, of course it's not, you can lift/rotate your head, pull silly faces, ..., until you find out what works best for you for each part of your face. I have a friend who's a master barber who emphasised the importance of it, for straights and DE's. Good luck, and after shamelessly nicking all your ideas for lathering and uk artisan soap makers, it will be good to pay you back 😂👍
Rather than the essential oils that affected Neil's skin @ 4:40, it might have been the triethanolamine I mentioned in my other comment here. What setting on the Merkur and Progress correspond to the #6 head on the Rockwell 6s? Kevy - need I say more? Only one blade allowed you to try an ATG pass above the upper lip and you'll remember what that was here: i.imgur.com/QfctpG1.jpg
Shave- a-thon Ha ha! That picture you put together is funny! I would say the Rockwell #6 plate is setting 4 on the Progress and setting 3.5 on the Futur. I'll pass the info on to Neil. Cheers. Kevy 👍

For what that cream costs, you would expect it to be the best.Maybe try a synthetic brush with a little less water next time.Wet shaving is about playing around with different stuff.
steven lamond Cheers Steven. It was ok. He went over most of the material he's recorded for an upcoming Live At The Appollo then told us what parts of the routine the BBC wouldn't leave in for the show. Most of it got cut! He wasn't too bad though and some of it was funny, although to be fair, I thought the support act was just as funny, a Glaswegian comic called Scott Gibson. Cheers. Kevy 😀
