In this DCS World Simulator video I'm in the F15 Eagle fighting 4nvil in the JAS39 Gripen (Thanks for the help buddy), Hope you guys enjoy!
I love playing simulators, I started with Arma 3 and then I saw DCS World. I also enjoy War Thunder , Battlefield , Ghost recon, Squad , Rome total war, Microsoft Flight Simulator and more. I also enjoy World War II games including il-2 In DCS World i found all the jets that i wanted to fly in a simulator the F 16 Viper , FA 18 Hornet , F 15 Eagle , A 10 Warthog , SU 27 , Mig 29 , P 51 , Spitfire , AH 64 Apeche , Heuy and more... And if you will download MODs the options are endless: F 22 Raptor, SU 57 , A 4 Skyhawk , SR 71 Blackbird , Rafale, Gripen and the list goes on.

Sort of. LS didn't fly as cleanly as he could have in the last one. Good set of fights all round!
i knew the f-15 was big but seeing one parked next to a f-18 showed me how big it really is.
As big as the Flanker.

F-16 guy here so forgive my ignorance. Do 15 drivers split the throttles in real life combat maneuvers? Or is this a capability they have but simply don't use IRL? Also, when splitting, does the F-15 have issues with compressor stalls in similar fashion as the F-14 had?
The reason I ask is because we used to fly against F-15s all the time and as a F-16 Avionics guy I've had the opportunity to review a lot of HUD tapes from the 16's POV. But I don't ever recall seeing this practice performed IRL. To be honest with you, it may have been simply that I didn't fully understand what I was looking at and they very well could have been doing it and I just didn't notice.
I'll be honest with you, the amount of A/A and A/G information available today is light years beyond what we had back in the late 90's early 2000s when I was an Avionics guy. Despite my considerable knowledge of how the systems all worked, the practical usage of applying these systems and platform capabilities used to be limited to only those that flew these birds outside of our simulator maintenance teams. It still blows my mind that games like this are even available to the public!

That was a great fight! I didn't expect those two planes to be so evenly matched, I would have thought the Gripen would outclass the Eagle pretty easily. Seems not though, both of you had to pull out all the stops to get an advantage!

It should be a 50-50 (%) situation here really, since the Gripen model in DCS is based on the F-15 "flight model".
I've also got a "left engine fire" - but flying the single engine Gripen!
In the real world, F-15 has an instantaneous turn rate of 25 degrees per second (sustained: 13) and Gripen has an instantaneous turn rate of 38 degrees per second (sustained: 28).
F-15 was not designed to be a dogfighter, it's was designed to be a "long range killer"...
The new EX can pull some crazy stuff now, very similar to the f/a18
Dont snort in the Scandinavians face in an eagle, you just get a missle up your arse most of the time in DCS, lesson learned in this video

Lucky draw to the both of you, LS! I'm impressed in 5:51 about this cinematic POV of your Eagle gun. How about solo or pair up with GS using either a MiG-29/Su-27 vs Su-57 Felon either BVR or dogfight? It'll be cool to see your turning skills done for! The longer the shot, the better the dogfight!

Trying to use altitude against the eagle is hilarious. A plane/rocket with wings that can go supersonic while completely verticle.
Depending on configurations, altitude, and other factors the Gripen and the F15 actually isn't far away from each other regarding climb speed. One of the original specifications for the Gripen is actually on climb speed as it is supposed to be able to rush up and meet Russian fighters and bombers.

F-15 is a very difficult plane to fly in my opinion. But when you get a hold and feel comfortable with it, it can decimate any opponent except 5th Gen fighters.

Do a rematch using the F15EX. Closest thing 2 a Raptor without being 1.
FC3 F-15C still has an SFM simplified flight model, it has to.
The JAS-39 has 18,000lbf pushing a 19,500 minimium takeoff weight (13,000lb airframe, 5,500lbs fuel, 1,000lbs FIG+Expendables) on a 275 square foot wing area, this adds up to about 70psf wingloading and a .95 thrust loading.
By comparison, an F-15C has a 26,000lb EEW, 14,000lbs of fuel and 1,500lbs (945 rounds) of 20mm + expendables.
So... 42,000lbs in 'dogfight takeoff' with a wing area of 610 square feet and 2X 23,750lbs engine thrust. That's a wingloading of 68psf and a thrust loading of 1.13:1.
It has always had a 60` AOA at 90 knots stable flight capability.
Meaning the Gripen should not be dancing around it like this. Energy retention and addition, plus low internal fuel as minimal burner time without at least a centerline tank, means the JAS-39 should not be a superior energy fighter. And the wingarea and unity+ thrust loading should mean that, _at takeoff_ the F-15 can accelerate from zero and climb.
The F-15C needs a PFM model and the JAS-39 needs a psychiatrist. This superman fluff stuff doesn't work when you're a chihuahua in a greyhound world.

You're incorrect. The F-15C has had a PFM for many years now, and it is widely considered one of the most accurate PFM's in DCS. The Gripen is a commnity mod with an SFM.

Either as a function of listening to Eagle Riders talk about how their fights play out, nor in watching things like the Raytheon Trophy fights (2012-2013), here on YT, where the crossing rates and pitch rates of F-15s, playing into the vertical, with CATMs and tanks, is very high compared to the relatively low nose authority and low energy addition shown here.
Now, maybe Longshot is not the F-15 simulator jock he claims to be but he certainly sounds like he's using all the tools in the bag.
And yet I never once saw an alpha move that took the nose to 60` as the airspeed crossed 100 knots.
That was a big deal, in the 70s. Just as it was in the 80s when the Hornet took the same value to 0 knots.
So is it just the SFM on the Gripen is that overpowered or is the 'legend of the Rodan' is somehow overstated?
Or is it something like a CAS/No CAS emulation where the Secret Sauce is hidden within and unstated FLCS driver that is not in the PFM?

Sure compared to Gripen its old but not obselit. Irl Gripen C will win most fights ag F16, F15 and F18. Against Eurofighter and Rafael my guess is the cost will be to high.

I am living in sweden where they do the Gripens, and this was the c version. Now we have some E version Gripen, and they are lets say 25 percent better then the c. In this dogfight i would predict that Gripen E would have won 3 to zero????
the Gripen C is better in a knife fight just like the F-15C beats the F-15E. As planes get upgraded they always get heavier and their wing area never increases to accomodate.
@@appa609 can mostly agree, but as u know irl its a lot of secrets ot the fighters skills. So as a swede i guess that the E version of Gripen is at least slighly better then the c version, also in doghights???
most specs are secret, but i think Gripen E will be the best non stealth fighter, at least as a defender.

Why would you assume that the Gripen can outrate an Eagle? Your conclusion makes absolutely no sense.
In the past, we have seen a Flanker outrate a Gripen and we have seen an Eagle outrate a Flanker.

@@LongShotChannel When at the beginning of the video you said that you would not want to take a chance against a Gripen in a two circle, I understood that to mean that a Gripen would beat an Eagle in a two circle or rate fight.
