Since I don’t want to copy any other creators without at least mentioning them, I want to give credit to Erin’s Audio Corner whose videos I’ve been watching a lot lately He does a great job at reviewing speakers (much more professionally than I could) and I took some of his approaches to reviewing speakers and implemented them into my new videos You can find his channel here: ua-cam.com/users/ErinsAudioCorner
Oh wow they sound really good! I also love the way they look... the deep enclosure reminds me of some Yamaha speakers and the front really shows from what country they came from. German loudspeakers were always the best sounding to my ears.
Sooooo good to have you back. I could listen to your voice for days AND you have good things to say so it is worth it. We missed you. I hope your other projects had success. Nice focus on measurements so we get to really do some analysis. These speakers seem really interesting. Having the mids and especially the highs so much louder than the bas but having the bass go as low as 55 is very interesting indeed. Classical and some Jazz will obviously sound good along with some 80s synth I think. How revealing do you think they are? Are there other speakers you think are a good comparison for them. Do they compare to any modern portable speakers? Agian - good to have you back!
thanks a lot :) I appreciate that! things are looking really good for my diy projects I hope one day I can make some vids about those as well classical and jazz music does sound better on these speakers than modern pop music however even then they can become fatiguing after a short while of listening they certainly reveal a lot of information, probably too much… I wouldn’t really compare them to portable speakers, rather something like the ls3 although that’d be a bit unfair since the ls3 is a very well tuned speaker
@@lukabosnjak3829 I think you might be right. The Oslo has all of that upper presence but it might have more bass and fuller longer lasting bass with a slower decay. It costs about the price of 2 sets of these speakers though so it is supposed to be better haha. ALthough it does have portability on its side. You got me thinking about the Oslo now. I have not thought about that speaker for a while. What a sound. Everyone loves the Helsinki and that is right but no one should overlook the Oslo - what a sound for a Bluetooth speaker. I wish the would redo it and update it with ports and power gets and give it bluetooth 5.3 or something. It woudln be excellent!!
@@iu1191 It has aptx hd, so better quality than bluetooth 5.3, but sound on that speaker is sooo precise and quite linear on neutral mode. Probably sounds better than mono Elac, maybe even 2 when they are close together and I think that they would be around the same price with an amplifier. I prefer the Oslo in neutral to Helsinki, they are similar but Oslo is almost as loud as the Jbl boombox while still being very compact...😅
@@speakertoni2680 I get what you said about the LS3. These epasker do have style going for them though. THey really look excellent. A little harsh on the highs (at least when listening through youtube haha) and the chart predicts that anyway so non surprises. Can the bass be boosted - I wonder what it would be like listening to them through a tube amp which would bring the bass up. Then you don;t loose anything on the top end but the lower end comes back a little. Is that something you would try - is it even interesting as they are not the most important speakers in the world haha. You did pick them to review however and they do seeminteresting so if you have the kit - itb would be good to know how speakers like this sound with tubes .. I done have a tube amp but having listened ... the bass can be brought out really smoothly and maybe they can deliver more. Their physical tuning and physical engineering would have limitations but it would be interesting to hear what the result would be. Just a thought. Thanks for the reply - much appreciated.
Finally a new video! These speakers are nothing special, they look quite cool but sound is jus a bit sizzling. 😅 I really liked your older style with longer sound samples and comparisons with "reference system" because I think that it's much easier to get a proper opinion on a product like that. And I also like the fact that with sound demo we are getting a "chance" to listen to music on different speakers. 🔊 Also, do you still own those ls3-s and Thiels and how do they sound compared to that Wilson audio system from your old videos?
they’re not too bad to me I like the concept behind them but technically yes, they’re not that special I partially agree, however I always had copyright issues and a sound sample in my room which is far from perfect doesn’t really offer an objective basis for a review that’s why I’m trying to mix more measurements with my audio samples my reference system is changing atm, the ls3 are no longer my reference, but thats a topic for another vid I still own them tho! the thiels are at a friends place who owns an audio shop close by, I had to move them because I barely used them and they took up wayyy too much space in my room Im sure they’d be able to compete with the wilson’s tho about the ls3, I did compare them to the wilson audio alexia speakers with a big subwoofer to match the bass output and if u ask me it was much closer than it should’ve been… some might even say the ls3 won in some areas haha
Great to have you back - my favourite audio reviewer :). The data is really interesting and I can definitely see how it relates to the sound. Great looking speaker, bass response, speed and attack seem very good but the higher frequencies sound scratchy to me which I guess is not a shock looking at the plots ! What is a shock though is the quality of the crossover in a speaker at this price point. I know they arent particularly expensive but Ive seen much better quality crossovers on component car speakers costing a 1/4 of these. Great review thank you.
Good to have you back Toni! I like the modernistic/minimalistic design and compactness of these speakers. They sound like someone turned up the treble knob a notch, or two.. how do they sound when you turn down the treble a bit, or apply some EQ?

well that’s up to taste

I think that Elac sounds quite similar to Vifa Oslo, maby Oslo is still more neutral...

Welcome back Toni !!!
Price for the 305 was about 450€ for one speaker, 900€ for a pair. BS312 was about 850€ / 1700€
Finally after a year!!!!

I have these speakers, only after connecting a powerful amplifier they sound great. For me with Hegel H1. I have many speakers, but they charmed me.
I've got ELAC elegant 315... In My opinion they sond very good but need to get power... I run with Yamaha MX-2...
Why are so many people talking about trying it, for this Speaker test, there is nothing at all, ok
what?
