  • Having a true foremilk/hindmilk imbalance is rare but can happen. It usually happens when:
    *A robust oversupply
    *An overactive let down
*Baby is being limited in their time at the breast
*Switching breasts too quickly in the feeding
    Baby with unidentified tongue tie
    *Combination of all of these
    Signs of an imbalance include
    *Really watery, foamy, green poops
*Baby nurses often and transfers high volumes of milk but doesn’t gain weight as expected
    How to help:
*Regulate the over supply (bring it down to just what baby needs). This may include reducing pumping.
*Shake your breasts and do some massage before feeding. Milk is a liquid. By shaking prior to feeding you can activate the fat to flow faster
*Feed baby one side until they are finished on that side. You may need to block feed, or offer one breast for a set amount of time, to help increase fat content from that side

Ommggg this video is a life saver , our 3 weeks daughter has the same symptoms , my wife has oversupply as you said that the baby triggers it with the tounge. She constantly relies on lettdowns, by the 5th or seventh minutes this last week she gets angre with the breast maybe cuz the lettdowns come to the end . Today she screamed / a lot for like 1 min and pause for 3 min and then again then we saw the diaper it was green for the first time. I had a tongue tie , since day 4 when she came from hospital we were thinking she had tongue tie . Very informative video , God bless you.

Very informative video. I faced this issue with my first born. I was unware of these things. Now i just delivered my second one, a week back. Everything repeats.. I have over supply and fast letdown. My baby fusses while feeding sometimes.. I think he is in discomfort. Most of the time he feeds for few mins and then unlatches and sleeps. After 10 mins he cries again in hunger. This is goes on for more than an hour. I am not sure why is this happening. Right now he poops around 7 times a day. No foamy frothy stool. But my first born used to go foamy frothy poop right while feeding itself.
I have no lactation consultant in my surrounding. Also I couldn't afford online consultation. Plz help.
