Thank you. After watching your videos for months, my brain is finally getting the perspective of the size of this crater. I'm Australian. We don't have volcanic craters. Initially, my brain was telling me, even though the size had been described, that this active part of the crater was only about 200 metres (about 600 feet) across. Now my brain has worked out the immensity of this crater.
@@cathybaldry7822 Sorry, Cathy. I assumed I didn't need to clarify the 'active volcanoes' bit (says the guy who runs thependantpage on Facebook). To clarify, we have about 150 dormant or 'extinct' volcanoes, but no active ones. Unless you add the Antarctic territory to the list and then yes, we have a big active volcano at Heard Island. My main point was about my inability to get a perspective on the size of the crater in this video. But hey, all good.
I love the fact you can see how the landscape is being sculpted by the eruption. In particular the island as I can imagine a small lake forming around it. Not that I am saying that will happen but how this is seen elsewhere around the world.

That island is much like a mini version of a continental land mass sitting on a tectonic plate floating on a sea of magma. Be very interesting to figure out its submerged profile and thermal radiation gradient pattern.
So, in a week that thing turns loose more SO2 than a modernized coal fired power plant does in 8 months. At any given time there's around a hundred active eruptions going on, some of them massive.
There where three vents two been drowned by the lake the last one is a slow process I’m thinking another month we will see but the lava has slowed down right now
we see an increase of volcanic awareness. awareness is created by internet platforms, such as facebook and instagram who actively feed anxiety and fear. perceived dangers like natural disasters are great to hype up the dopamine in your brain and therefore you stay on those internet platforms like a junkie craving its fix. people are now more aware of racism, terrorism, corruption etc etc. because those things create anxiety. some people call it "woke" and it's the product of our connectiveness through internet platforms aka social media.
I would like for the Hawai'i transportation folks to fly back here to the mainland and do some teaching. They knew to close a highway because of reduced visibility from steam, yet we on the mainland continue to blame chain-reaction traffic accident slaughters on "reduced visibility" from fog, rain, etc. Since they aren't allowed to say "No, the accident death rate was due to people not driving in accordance with the conditions," there must be another answer found to reduce the highway carnage, especially in winter in the north and summer in the south. The Scandinavian countries require special winter driving training to get a license, and HI apparently knows to close a road when visibility is so poor you can't see two inches past the front of your hood. Maybe we should take a few tips from them?
@@POVシューター ah. If you meant the 3-D model of the crater where they do a fly thru, those are indeed created by the HVO. They release them periodically on the Surveys UA-cam channel. Just no good way to show the source on it like we do with the regular 2-D map right after that.
