@@NehaKumari-xw3mq omg as u should making such films in 80s is an achievement like litrally a movie about two homosexual lovers with a very sad ending insane the worst part is that one of the guy gets married to a girl but still loves hiim and that sh*t made me cry
@@m.s.vision6531 yes the plot of movie is heartbreaking but it portrays the reality of a homosexual person in 20th century , who is not ready to accept themselves and its tragic 💔
@m t True. But the creative partnership there is the trio of them - James Ivory, Ismail Merchant and their long-time script collaborator Ruth Prawer Jhabvala.
Howards End is, in my opinion, a perfect movie of the very highest caliber. Ismail was such a driving force while James was free to direct. It’s my favorite movie of all time. Simply exquisite.

Their story could make a great movie, I really hope to see it on screen someday

James Ivory is a true Hollywood legend!
Love all the Merchant-Ivory movies.
It would be an honour to meet James in person, and have a long chat.

Agreed, the complete film
100% agree
My favorite is Maurice . Such a great movie
James Ivory is so insightful and talented and considerate and humble.
A great love story. Wonderful.
Wonderful interview. I adore Merchant and Ivory films.
Merchant would’ve been so happy to see his friend win his first Oscar.
Absolutely that makes me cry all the time🥹 but he was not his friend, he was his lover but they had to hide it

As a team, they made so many beautiful films!!
Very nice. Thank you!
Tq so much for uploading these cuts. Where did u find these all?
No acknowledgement of their relationship. But I guess his prerogative.
True, it is his prerogative, but it makes me wonder at Mr. Ivory's reason for not mentioning their relationship.

@@peterharms3639 Age might have something to do with it also, gay men of their generation were very discreet.
I found this paragraph in a 2018 Guardian interview with Ivory, addressing their mutual reluctance to publicly acknowledge their private relationship:

Nice explanation. Your profile pic of Polly Holiday made me nostalgic.
From 2009.
Maybe that’s why call me by your name was not directed by James Ivory
