I'm undecided. I need a lens for landscape stills and I still don't know what to choose between Samyang 12 f2, 16mm f2, and 14mm f2.8. Very good review. Thank you!

Maybe it’s not easy to make your decision. While 12 mm is near to 10 mm and clearly an ultra wide angle, 16 mm is an other adress. For my own I’m glad with the decision of 10 mm for the strongest ultra wide, but still not fisheye (fisheye effect is not my preference). So I can use the strong wide angle with 16 mm - in a very high quality. And the most ultra wide - as an own dimension of sight. If I may say so.
      And: Thx for ‚thank you‘…

Hello "dave koh"! I got a notification yesterday, but still don't find your comment here or in my list of comments. I hope, Google will send you an automatically notification so that you can read my answer.
I use sharpening in-camera. I use ALWAYS and with any lens. Follow this link: ochsenfeld.space/samyang-16-mm-f2-0-brilliant-sharpness. I implanted 2 PDF-documents to present some comparisons that can show the very little difference between sharpening in-camera - and using no pre-correction. So or so the Samyang 16 mm F2.0 is a great lens, offering great sharpness.

Nice review. How do you think it will perform for astrophotography? Thanks

See my additional video about the Samyang 16 mm F2.0 - I think you will find the answer. There I present a photography of stars (means: sky at night) and some explanation.

Compare to its brother Samyang 35mm t1.5 and Samyang 85mm t1.5, which one is sharper at the widest f-stop?

Sorry, I don't have these lenses. I needed to lend them. And I needed the time to do…
Another Samyang lens I have is Samyang 1.4 / 85 mm AS IF UMC.
This 85-mm is very sharp. I like to use for product photography, if dynamic perspectives are the wrong way to present something. The full frame aquivalent of 136 mm is very good for functional product photography.
The Samyang 1.4 / 85 mm AS IF UMC is leaning to cromatic aberations. The CAs are not to strong and can easily be corrected via Photoshop.
My Canon EF 100 mm 1:2 with ultrasonic autofocus as well shows those CAs. It is a well known problem of this focal lengths.

    Un'obiettivo 16mm, è Un'obiettivo per interni?

Sorry, I’m not able to speak italian. I needed to choose ‚Google Translater‘. So I hope to answer right.
Mi dispiace, non sono in grado di parlare italiano. Avevo bisogno di scegliere "Google Translater". Quindi spero di rispondere bene.
The lens has an internal focus system.
L'obiettivo ha un sistema di messa a fuoco interno.

Thank you for the review but...
16 mm isn't wide enough for APC-crop; the10 mm Samyang has no possibility of filters adding.
    Both suck...
Venus Laowa 15mm f/4 Wide Angle 1:1 Macro Lens is much more versatile (full frame, shift and awesome macro).

It depends on what you need and what you like to have: the 16 mm are a e.g. 24 mm for Nikon, a 25,6 for Canon… (full frame equivalent). That is a strong wide angle lens. I - and now I speak for myself - need both: 10 and 16 mm, because the ultra wide angle of such 10 mm at APS-C-sensor is sometimes to much.
In my video reviews about the 10 mm I talk about the fact, that you can’t use filters with the Samyang 10 mm F2.8. Yes, it is a kind of compromise.
However, I don’t know lenses of such an outstanding physical quality - resulting such extraordinary picture quality - furthermore for a price like that, while there is no comfort and while there are no extras.

    work in a Nex-ea50?

Follow syopt.com, then „products“, then „manual focus“, then choose the lens to go to the detailed informations. Samyang lists compatibility with Sony Alpha and Sony E. - Sony themselves list Sony-E-mount for the „NEX“-cameras on Sony-website.
E-mount should be E-mount - and should not depend on if it is a photocamera or a videocamera. Maybe there is an incompatibility with the video-system? The video-lens can be controlled completely manually - so it should (!) be possible to mount the completely manually Samyang-lens. But please (!) check this by yourself, before you spend the money for the lens.
Do you know someone who owns a Sony-E-camera, so that you could compare the connecting bayonet?
