I live in the UK. Interracial relationships are not as big as people are making out. There is a percentage of high value black men that have white girlfriends, and black women get hyper fixated on them and act like they are the rule and not the exception.

Interesting point and I agree entirely. I’m of West African origin and was married to someone of Caribbean origin. The BIG issue was the clash of cultures and values despite both of us being black. His mother had a child out of wedlock (after marriage to his father) and his sisters were teenage, single mothers!
There were just so many differences that it filters down into the relationship and mixing with the ‘in-laws’ was even harder (they weren’t nice people).

BM are with BW on a whole, BM are marrying BW - there are large Ghanaian, Nigerian, Congolese communities, I could go on. These nationlities are marrying within their culture.

My wife is a dark skinned British born Ghanaian woman and we are both in the U.K.
I asked her once if she ever had difficulty attracting black men during her adult life.
She told me that this has never been a problem for her as an adult.
One of her closest friends she met in university is a white woman who exclusively dates black men. My wife told me that when they went to clubs that this friend chose for them to go too, she already knew she wouldn’t get any attention as they tended to be clubs where black men looking for white women would go.
However, when she went to clubs or events that predominantly black people frequented, men giving her attention was not an issue.
For the black women who think black men don’t check for them, what sort of places are you finding yourself in?
The clue to how to solve your problems can be found in my comment right here!

    • @IshtarNike
      @IshtarNike 20 днів тому +9

This conversation is so silly lol. Us being 2% of the population is precisely why people (men and women) date outside the community. Dating in the modern world is hard. You're trying to connect on so many different levels. You're no longer marrying the first or second person you have a serious relationship with. As a result it's MUCH harder to find a match. I've got barely any dating experience but I can tell you just based on numbers it'll be damn hard for me to find a woman I like who fits my criteria and is also black. And that's got nothing to do with black women. It's just people. It's a numbers game and most people, regardless of race, aren't going to be compatible. If you limit yourself to black people only you're signing up to a VERY hard game. Personally I am biased towards finding a black partner and put more effort in there, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a real struggle.
Two things can be true at once. I'll not deny there's a sizeable chunk of shallow self hating colourist white worshipping black dudes just looking for white women to have sex with. But at the same time, the numbers are against us no matter what you do or how pro-black you are. I wouldn't expect a black woman to pass up on a white man soulmate just for me when she probably hasn't even met me yet and maybe never will. And as much as we know those shitty black guys are out there you can't tell who's shitty just from looking at them. It's really sad listening to people low-key hating on mixed couples and mixed kids(!) that they see everywhere based on what they THINK those relationships must be like.
I think some of us need to grow up and realise that you can critique problematic interracial dating without throwing the baby out with the bath water and acting like interracial dating is something that's purely a negative thing.

The reason why the Carribean population is shrinking is that post 1960, there has been no new wave of Carribeans coming to the UK, and those that came in the 60s have returned home. However, there are constant waves of Africans coming here as students, refugees, or illegal migrants. Carribean women are having less children and white women who are with carribean men are having more children. As the mixed race population grows, the black population shrinks.

Hmmm - I am U.K. based and I am not convinced that the stats he has provided is even close to being accurate.
This is a subject I am quite interested in as I do think that the issue has been inflated to leave black women in a state of perpetual victimhood.
I have been hearing that the majority of black men date white women for most of my 50 years and certainly since the 80s.
However, my personal experience shows otherwise with the vast majority of black men I know (and I know a lot), only exclusively dating black and mixed with black women.
Those who would sleep with non-black women don’t see them as an actual dating option, leaving a very very very small selection of black men who would date and / or marry non black women.
That is not to say that there isnt a disproportionate amount of black men, when compared to men of other ethnic groups who date outside of their race in the U.K.
I am aware of a few black men who only date white / Asian women but most black men I know are embarrassed to even let anyone know that they have been messing with a non-black woman and prefer to keep that secret!
Roughly from memory, the 2011 statistics provided by the Office of National Statistics (I haven’t had a proper look at the 2021 stats), around 30% of black people of marrying age have been married at some point.
Of the men who fall into that category, around 47% of men who identify as black British, black Caribbean, or black African (not including men who identify as mixed with black) are either married or living with a non-black partner.
However, around 39% of women who identify as black British, black African, or black Caribbean were also married or living with a non black partner.
    That’s only a difference of 8%!
Further, if only 30% of black people have been married at some point, that leaves around 70% of people who we don’t know what their preference is.
In addition, just because someone happens to be with a non-black person at the time when they complete a census, that doesn’t mean that this is their preference or that they only date non-black people. It only shows that they wasn’t with a black person at the time when they completed the census.
So while I don’t agree with the stats presented during this discussion, the evidence still shows that the majority of black people date other black people in the uk

London yes the majority of Afro-Caribbeans and Africans marry amongst each other including those of mixed heritage. In cities like Nottingham and Leeds it's very different. In Nottingham, the majority of Afro-Caribbean men marry European/Caucasian women. Some marry mixed heritage women. Very few marry Afro-Caribbean women.

What on earth is that gentleman talking about? A simple google search will show you that in 2011 about 40 per cent of black men in marriages or civil partnerships were with white women. I myself remember reading an article about it, the figures were slightly higher amongst black men of Caribbean heritage in comparison to men of African heritage. In 2024 I imagine that has only gone up. I moved to the UK from Nigeria and have lived here for about 20+ years, I do a double take when I see black couples. Especially when it involves a black man who was born in the UK.
Because black men who were born and bred in the UK don't really go for black women. The black men I see marrying black women here are mainly men who have spent time in black majority countries (where black women's beauty is appreciated). I find, if he has spent some time in Africa or in the Caribbean he has less issues marrying a black woman. But the men who are born and bred in the UK will not touch a black woman with a barge pole!!! There is such a big difference in their attitude towards black women.
I know exactly what that young woman was talking about when she said she doesn't see black love.
Only God knows where that gentleman's 2% figure came from. It is not at all correct.

He's not telling the truth. Most carribean men in the UK marry or impregnate white women. His 1st mistake was comparing the UK to the US in regards to black people. The UK is very very white. All blacks in the UK only make up 4% of the population there while we make up 14% of the much larger US. So he shouldn't try to compare our stats to theirs. Saying international marriage is only 2% of the UK population while blacks only make up 4% doesn't help his story. It's interesting how the woman was wrong about what she saw living in the UK, but this man has all the answers.

The figures available online are not very reliable because they are based on surveys or census records. Many people in Black communities in the UK are suspicious of questions relating to their race and family life and therefore choose not to participate or respond to those questions.
What we know from anecdotal evidence and our intimate knowledge of life in the UK for Black people is that:
    • Black Africans in the UK tend to marry other Black Africans. Interracial marriage is not common among Black Africans in the UK. Many Black African families in the UK do not approve of white-black interracial marriage. However, many Black Africans have relationships with white people but not necessarily with the intention of marriage, especially Black African men with white women. If the woman becomes pregnant, they may end up marrying her, even though she would not have been their personal preference for marriage. Such marriages do not last long. The man will often end up marrying a Black woman.
    • Interracial relationships between Black and white people are more common in Black Caribbean communities than in Black African communities in the UK. The reason is that in African cultures, you don't marry the individual but the whole family. African men and women are raised to believe that the family always comes first, including extended family members. The concern among Africans is that marrying a white person may lead to serious clashes because white people are brought up in a culture of individualism, which is the complete opposite of African cultures. African Caribbeans, having adopted Western cultures and individualism, are less likely to find themselves at odds with white partners than Black Africans are.
Let me give you a real example. A Black African in the UK knows that he or she has responsibilities towards other members of the family, including extended family members. If your distant cousin's daughter needs school fees, you know that it is your duty to contribute. If your uncle's neighbours in Africa are sending their child to study in the UK and you're asked to accommodate that student you've never met, you do so as your duty to your family. You know that they would do the same for you or your children.
If you're married to a white person or even a Black person who is not of African origin in the sense that they were not brought up with the same values, you're always going to fight with your spouse because they won't understand why you have to do all that and spend money on others outside of your home.
For Africans, these values are more important than love. They define love and marriage in terms of these values: "If you truly love me, you'll not ask me why I'm always sending money to my relatives in Africa." That sort of thing.

Africans sometimes marry out of their race but not as often as people from the Caribbean. Having lived in the UK longer than he the stats of interracial marriages are much higher. What is black love? I thought the colour red represented love and the colour of blood.
Below is an excerpt of the figures in 2018.
"Interracial couples may seem common but the latest figures show they account for only 7% of relationships in England and Wales. The latest Newsbeat documentary, Interracial Couples: Our Stories, gives a snapshot of life in an interracial relationship in 2018.Jul 11, 2018"
Office for National Statistics estimates suggest that 956,700 mixed-ethnicity people were resident in England (as opposed to the whole of the country) as of mid-2009, compared to 654,000 at mid-2001.[12] As of May 2011, this figure surpassed 1 million.[13] It was estimated in 2007 that, by 2020, 1.24 million people in the UK would be of mixed race.[14] Research conducted by the BBC, however, suggests that the mixed race population could already be twice the official estimate figure - up to 2 million.[15] According to The Economist in October 2020, the 2011 census figure "is probably an undercount, since not all children of mixed marriages will have ticked one of the mixed categories, and the number is likely to have grown since the census".[16]

They often complain about the broken community whilst not seeing their juvenile ways of being "lead by their loins" and refusing to take on the meaningful challenge of raising their own children, is DIRECTLY adding to the problem.
Where I grew up (Ladbroke Grove, Mozart in the 80's/90's), it wasn't uncommon for many of my Carribbean friends to talk about being a "gyalist" or "getting as much pum pum" as they could was the goal.

@rogerdoger3347 the point is not that there is no racism in the UK, the point is that in America it is way more of an issue.
Context is everything. If levels of racism in country X is a 1/10 and it increases to 4/10 people will feel it and rightly complain, that still doesn't make it as prevalent a problem as racism in a country that has 8/10 racism.

    -Financial instability
    -Lack of mental health awareness
    -the normalision of cohabitation .

What he is saying is factually incorrect for the black Carribbean community which that woman probably comes from judging from her name I searched to be "Alexandra marshall grant".
"Black british" isn't an all encompassing term, and doesnt help when addressing things for specific communities.
According to the latest census, the Afro Caribbean community is 1% of the UK population around 600'000, and the mixed white/ black caribbean population has jumped up to 0.9% of the general population. By the next census, there will likely be more mixed- race carribeans people than black carribeans with two black parents.
According to the BBC in 2009, 48% of black Caribbean men and 34% of black Caribbean women was in interracial relationships, so it's probably even higher now.
Couple that with a low number of new immigration from the Carribbean due to their independence from the British commonwealth, we are on track to dissapearing as a distinct ethnic group from the UK.
The black African community however is indeed growing, going from 0.9% in 2001, to becoming the majority black community in 2011 at 1.8%, up to 2.5% in 2021 over the span of 20 years.
The black love most people see in the UK are from black African couples, not (young) black Carribbean people, but much love to the African community.
