It’s an interesting conversation. I don’t think there is a right answer. I carried the M1 12.9 for 2 years and really enjoyed it. When the M4 came out I decided to try the 11”. For me, because I use it so much in my truck and I use it both as a tablet and a MB replacement, the 11” wins. At home I use a MBP hooked to a couple of monitors in my office, but it rarely leaves its docking station. It’s funny that last year I was done with the iPad and now it’s my favorite device. I think the size change played into that.
I've had both and then went without an iPad. The sweet spot for me is 14" MacBook Pro (iPad can't replace macOS), and 11" iPad Pro. I just don't think that people need to have multiple items running at once. The best way to focus is to do one thing at a time, and I think for portability, the 11" is obviously the winner.
No, apple tends to use average-look people to advocate for their products, he is too handsome for that. Apple is having a lot of effect on political correctness.😏
As much as I loved the 13”, I had to return it in the end. The 11” portability just outweighed everything the 13” offered, in my opinion. The 13” has a 4x3 aspect ratio, so when you zoom into media content that’s in a 16:9 format, you lose way more of the image as opposed to the 11” 10x7 aspect ratio. My friend and I went for a long drive the other day, and his car didn’t have Apple CarPlay, so I just stuck my 11” on the dash, and it was so easy. I’d have both if I could, but the 11” wins in my mind.
For me I have found the 11” the best size for me for all of the reasons you mentioned. I am IPad only so when I want to do anything with several apps I use an external model. I still cannot believe the screen resolution on the m4 and the battery life is incredible.
The answer is simple. If you will be carrying the device all the time (which I do, for my day time job), then get the 11 inch model. Otherwise, the bigger iPad can be an alternative (if you find 11 inch small for media consumption). In my case I have both devices, but I rarely use the 13 inch so I decided to give it to my wife since she uses it as a portable media consumption device all the time (Netflix, UA-cam, and Soc Med). In my case, I use it for professional work (video editing, audio recording, writing documents, scripts, and for AI stuff).
A 12” iPad Pro would be really interesting. It would be the sweet spot between the 11” and 13” sizes and would make a really great companion device. Imagine if Apple came out with that 😂 it would never happen but a very interesting concept.
I went for the 13” because I use my tablet for a lot of writing. Novels, podcast episodes, notes, etc. The typing experience on the 13” is far and away the better of the two sizes. I also don’t spend a lot of time on planes or lugging my iPad around town, so the larger size doesn’t bother me much the odd time I do leave the house with it. Plus, the screen size for multitasking is nice and the speakers are better, which make gaming and movies/tv better as well. For all of those reasons, the 13 is the obvious choice and worth the extra couple hundred bucks.
There are plenty of niche programs that you simply need a laptop for, imo. But the real killer that keeps the iPad Pro from coming into its own as a laptop alternative is the lack of true MS Office. Yes, it and the included Apple office apps can get your basic needs done, but let's say you want to do something in Excel that isn't just "view files." It basically can't do it in any meaningful way. Sure, you can technically generate a rudimentary graph or whatever, but that's still baby toy tier stuff compared to what the desktop versions can do.
I use an iPad (now) for a lightweight portable compute experience, so my travel machine is an iPad Pro 11" M4 512 GB with Cellular, a Magic Keyboard, and a Pencil Pro. I can throw it all into a sleeve and compute on the go anywhere there's enough table space to set it down, or I can pull out the tablet and work on that. My main driver will _always_ be a Mac because of the depth of the experience - my current main driver is a 2020 iMac 5K core-i9 (10910) 128 GB 4 TB AMD Radeon Pro XT 5700 w/16 GB VRAM. This allows for a lot of multitasking with lots of background services running and a big screen with lots of real estate. When they stop supporting the Intel I'll probably go with a Mac Studio M4 Max or Ultra with at least 64 GB RAM and 4 TB SSD with a Studio Display. It'll be sweet to have four or eight Thunderbolt controllers unlike the iMac - which if I'm reading the device tree correctly - only has one going out two USB-C ports.
I'm a heavy note taker, and 11" is just fine. However, I use 13" since its additional screen real estate functions as a palm rest, and you don't need to mover around the page (when zoomed) as much as 11".
For myself, I was going towards a MacBook but wanted to remain with iPad. Now, the 13” and a Magic Keyboard I have everything, the pencil is a distraction but a must have.
I went with the 11 inch just to use as a tablet, but I have an older 2013 Mac which it has basically replaced… with that said the reason I didn’t grab the 13 is the price. If you go for the cellular model like I did with some extra storage space on it then add the cost of the keyboard you’re entering the price range of a Mac. So i figured id rather get a full laptop over a tablet that tries to replace my Mac for the same price. It looked pretty awesome though I just think they need to lower the price on it which will never happen.
I use apps side by side on my 2020 iPad Air and it always feels cramps when I try to multitask. I think this reason alone might make me get the 13" iPad Air.
I think there is one general question, if using it just like laptop relplacement like me go 13 inch, if you have macbok pro go 11 inch ,great companion. With weight reduction and thinner bezzels now 13 inch is much more pleasent to use as tablet .
I’ve always been a 11” model guy. I work with my iPad as a PE teacher since the iPad 2. I own the 2020 11” iPad Pro since 2021. Because Apple has made the iPad Pro M4 thinner and lighter, and because I use my iPad Pro as my main device, now I want the 13” model so much. I’m not sure if I would keep my 11” and use both (it’s a cellular model and sometimes I capture video in ultra wide - I know, I must be the only one) and buy the wifi model or if I sell my 11” and buy a cellular M4 iPad Pro. What do you think about it ? But I forgot to tell the second reason why I don’t have the 13” model : the money. It’s widely more expensive.
I have the 11 pro now, the old version. I’m handing it down and upgrading. Thinking of another 11 pro but the 13 seems appealing. I will be using it for contract signing. I always thought the 11 was a tad too small but very portable. Thoughts on 13?
I agree. However, any MacBook is better than an iPad+keyborad. I personally don't understand why anyone would not just buy a MacBook if they want to type and have the "laptop experience". Nice video
I liked both but i feel 11in is too small and 13in too big, both are equally Powerfull, you can't take 13in outdoor all the time handy and you can't use 11in to watch content from far distance if i go for 13in then it wil not handy and looks little big while holding and if i go for 11in then on table it will look too small and to watch content you need to sit close
Okay going for 12.9 to 11 is great! 12.9 is really heavy compared to 11. 11 feels right, and 12.9 feels uncomfortable to travel with. If you want to do this for school, 11 is good enough especially if you want to dual screen apps. Tbh I would just recommend a regular iPad and an m1 MacBook Air or newer instead of a 12.9 inch. I’m torn between the 13 and 11” I have a MacBook Pro but looking for something on the go, to sign contracts with clients and share with them marketing material and videos during consultations. Recommendation?
I really wish the new iPad Pro had a 14-inch like the rumors were speculating. I appreciate how light and portable the 13-inch M4 iPad Pro is but if they made it the same size as Galaxy Tab Ultra, it would have been even closer to replacing a Mac.
your logo picture is sooo funny, "size matters" and I can't imagine myself walking down the street with a tv screen in my hands. The 13th is sooo big! Its ideal for a household device, something like a laptop alternative and a very strong one... But not a daily out device.
Yes but you have to remember everyone uses these devices differently. As just a daily tablet, you’re right. However, for many like me who use it as a full-on computer, the 13” screen is fantastic
@@FaizAly yes that's what I said, I do have a powerful desktop pc though, I took the air as a portable strong device, to write my university final assessment/thesis... @@FaizAly Yes, I went through. The webcam positioning is bit of a concern in M2 Pro, plus it's 14% costlier in my country than the M2 Air currently. Also how much is the note taking experience different with the new Pencil Pro on M2 Air from it's older version with M2 Pro?
@@DrAkashraj you won’t find a big difference in terms of not taking. Yes webcam orientation does make a difference. Also if it’s costlier go for M2 Air - it’s the best iPad for most people.

Thanks a lot you have really covered all my thoughts about which one should I chose however I have one more question , actually I’m a PhD student and many times when I go out for some shopping or just a walk I found my self finding some nice coffee shop and just end up sitting there to enjoy a cup of coffee and every time I wish I have my laptop with my since it’s a good time to read a little , but as the laptop is not that portable every time and everywhere I never take it with me for the mall or a short walk, so do you think the 13” is portable enough to take it everywhere and everytime and everyday, I want a device that I can carry it with my all the time like a phone and I want it to be big enough like the 13” , so please tell me your opinion about that and thank you again for this amazing video
Yes I truly believe the 13” is portable enough to take with you everywhere you go. The screen is large, yet because the device is so thin and light it’s not cumbersome at all.
Hii bro ,I already have a macbook pro nd now I want to buy iPad for notes making and study purpose so which size I should buy? Please suggest me which size can give me best experience for notes making and studies
@@jessicajamila1907 depends the workflow. I cant imagine using procreate and adobe Lightroom on the 11 inch. But it’s def best preferences for each user.
Haha, I literally was having this debate right now. I got the m4 Ipad Pro 11 inch 512 GB last week and… … I am debating switching it to the 13 inch 256 GB (maaaaaybe the equivalent but it is just so much money) So, here is the thing. I like the 11 inch. It is a fine device. It is great! I had a 2018 11 inch as well so I am used to the screen. The speakers are meh on the m4 but overall, it is a beast. The only thing is… I am now contemplating the 13 inch for its screen size and multi tasking/split view abilities. I am not someone who travels with an Ipad, so I do not care portability. I use it in my lap 80 percent of the time or sometimes on a desk (not with a keyboard) and except for the occasional coffee shop trips, it won’t be going anywhere. I also reach for the Ipad more than my MBP. I also want this to last 6-10 years or until it dies because I am not someone who really cares to upgrade all the time. I just don’t know if going from 512 GB to 256GB is worth the bigger screen size (it would cost 2.1k for the equivalent, ugh.) What I use it for: Drawing (beginner), photo editing for social media/content creation, content consumption, browsing. I eventually want to maybe create my own sticker/prints shop and draw designs but that is far off and if I do. I also would use it for teaching. I am planning on going to the apple store tomorrow to look at the 13’s (originally when I went I was so honed in on the 11 because getting a 13 wasn’t even on my mind and I was so sure about the 11.) Any thoughts?

I got the Magic Keyboard too but wondered about a different iPad case when not using keyboard. Is there a case compatible with the keyboard that I can easily use without removing each time to attach to keyboard. Hope that’s understandable 😅
I upgraded from a 11 in iPad Pro from 2020 to the 13 in M4. I wanted the larger one for a while since I mainly use the iPad as my replacement for my MacBook. My MacBook Air is a 2019 model and really doesn’t get much use from me.

Thank you! 🙏🏼 yes I do think the 13” will be great. However I suggest going to an Apple Store and experiencing Lightroom and other creative apps with the pencil and both the 11” and 13” sizes
11 inch is the best
13 inch all the way 💪
💯
I take notes a lot and I'm a cybersecurity student, and I take courses online, doing presentation skills. So what do you that the 13 inch it's the best choice for me
Yes I think you’ll love the 13”
If u have a laptop already thne go for 11 inch. If u don’t have laptop n want iPad to compensate for it then ho for 13 inch I would say.
Using the 13 inch iPad have you ditched your MacBook laptop at this point?
I have indeed!
@@FaizAly oh thank you very much you gave me a lot of clarity about my decision 🙏🏼🤍🤍🤍🤍

Hii bro ,I already have a macbook pro nd now I want to buy iPad for notes making and study purpose so which size I should buy? Please suggest me which size can give me best experience for notes making and studies
Since you already have a MacBook Pro, then perhaps 11” is the way to go
@@FaizAly Thanks for ur reply and to suggest 😊
My 12.9 IPad Pro looks really big in videos but in real life I feel like it could be a little bigger
You’ll see how big when it’s next to the 11 inch
So I have have have to get an iPad ?????
when you go to the larger ipad display you never go back. it becomes a secondary computer. or for some, their primary.
✅💯
A lot of people are switching from their previous 12.9” to the new 11”
@@jessicajamila1907 depends the workflow. I cant imagine using procreate and adobe Lightroom on the 11 inch. But it’s def best preferences for each user.
Haha, I literally was having this debate right now. I got the m4 Ipad Pro 11 inch 512 GB last week and…
… I am debating switching it to the 13 inch 256 GB (maaaaaybe the equivalent but it is just so much money)
So, here is the thing.
I just don’t know if going from 512 GB to 256GB is worth the bigger screen size (it would cost 2.1k for the equivalent, ugh.)
What I use it for: Drawing (beginner), photo editing for social media/content creation, content consumption, browsing. I eventually want to maybe create my own sticker/prints shop and draw designs but that is far off and if I do. I also would use it for teaching.
I am planning on going to the apple store tomorrow to look at the 13’s (originally when I went I was so honed in on the 11 because getting a 13 wasn’t even on my mind and I was so sure about the 11.)
Any thoughts?
Oh what u decide it?
@@Zeyey.-.m I went with the 13 and I am SO GLAD I did.
@@coolchick4328 reallyy?? Do u prefer 13 inch ?
i'd say stay with 512 gb oreven upgrade to 1tb 11 inch for future proofing
iPad mini i guess
Is it a ridiculous idea to have both?
Not at all 😅
11 inch pro or 13 inch air?
Great question! What will you mostly be using the iPad for?
@@FaizAly as a student for my a levels, I’ll be using it for schoolwork, taking notes etc. as well as general things like watching videos, playing games, listening to music etc. so what do you think, as for me they are at the same price
@@suli_xli Which one did you go for? I'm considering 11" pro
@@Gekko858 I got the 13 inch pro in the end cuz I did really well in my exams
@@suli_xli congrats man! How are you finding 13”?
Just ordered my 13” iPad Pro and an 11” iPad Pro for my wife. Looking forward to the new one. Mine now is an 11” iPad about 8 years old.
Question. I got the Magic Keyboard too but wondered about a different iPad case when not using keyboard. Is there a case compatible with the keyboard that I can easily use without removing each time to attach to keyboard. Hope that’s understandable 😅
size do matter and I don't talk about iPad ... I refer to the iPhone Pro Plus Max LOL
Yes, 13 inch seems awesome-I have stayed with 11 inch mostly due to iOS software limits and weight (along with Magic Keyboard)-heavier than air?
The new 13 inch with Magic Keyboard is slightly lighter now but the difference is negligible
lol youre right they made the tablet lighter but the keyboard weight was cumbersome. nothing changed at all unless you dont need the keyboard
I upgraded from a 11 in iPad Pro from 2020 to the 13 in M4. I wanted the larger one for a while since I mainly use the iPad as my replacement for my MacBook. My MacBook Air is a 2019 model and really doesn’t get much use from me.
How are you liking it?!
@@FaizAly so far i really like it a lot. The only thing I wasn’t aware of going into it was that my current Apple Pencil wasn’t compatible. I don’t use the pencil much. But now that I can’t, I want to. So I’m trying to decide if I should just get the USB C pencil or go all out for the Pro.
Faiz bringing the Big Screen Energy
I bought the 11" M4 and was going to trade in my 13" M1 Pro but ultimately couldn't part with the latter and kept it. So now I have one of each
Can’t be wrong with both! 😊
I love you, you are super cute ❤
