You are the man!!! If everybody loved drag racing as much as you… NHRA would be the biggest thing on earth!!! I’m so proud you got the win and closed down that era on top!!! Proud of you!!!
I'm 69 and have been involved with drag racing since I was a kid. It breaks my heart to watch all of these tracks disappear, one after another. Thank you Clay for the interview, we rarely get to see this side of the sport.
I'm 5 years behind you & grew up with small local oval track That has fought the past few years to stay alive & they just announced they got the funds for the 2024 season & there going retire the South Bend Motor Speedway outside south bend, indiana
@@Jammer.1 Sorry to hear that, I grew up a few miles away from the Altamont Speedway out side of Livermore Ca., I'm sure it's gone just like so may tracks across the country.
My daughters have been racing at Bandimere for the last 8 years. The Bandimere family, the staff, and all the fellow racers and spectators have been amazing throughout the years. This place will be deeply missed. We were happy to be at all 3 days of this race, and see Clay stomp that loud pedal one more time!
Clay Millican, This was one of the best interviews I have ever seen! You and Donna are some of the most down-to-earth people I have ever seen. Bandimere Family! I wish to Thank you. For the last 4½-5 years. I watched PFI Speed. Brent, Jamie, and the boys, Steven and Shane, make PFI such an awesome partner with the Speedway. I sincerely hope the Bandimere Family decides to continue their legend! It may not be on that mountain. But there are a LOT of mountains in Colorado!! I so hope to see them become the Phoenix and RISE from the ashes! May Jesus and The Father Almighty, Watch over all of the racers, the Bandimere, and the PFI Families. I will make the trip from Spokane, WA. to see your new facility!
Clay is absolutely right John Bandimere goes beyond for the racers. I remember several years ago at a divisional race. John was walking down the staging lanes shaking every hand that he possibly could telling drivers. God bless you and thank you for coming! It’s some thing like that that’ll stick with me forever!
The last final at Bandimere goes down as 1 of greatest ever!! So stoked that Clay documents it all for the fans like no other!! Fantastic work Clay and team!!!
Great "conversation" Clay. Tami and the Bandimere family are amazing ambassadors for the sport. Bandimere Speedway is one of the most beautiful tracks in the country. Sorry to see is close.
I certainly hope they build a new facility, such a rich history on the mountain, thanks Clay for sharing such a wonderful story of this great family and good luck today.
Congratulations on the 2nd Wally of the year Clay, if anyone deserves this it’s the parts plus team with you at the wheel. Last one at bandimere speedway, so special..❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is one of my favorite episodes so far. What a nice, nice lady with a fantastic outlook on her family's place in the greater scheme. The whole weekend turned out "pretty good" for you and your fans as well. CONGRATS!
Thanks clay for taking us all down memory lane with Tami. You my friend are special, thanks for the content. Love the channel, stomp on that load petal!!!!!👍✌️😁😎🍀🍀🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
I am on the east coast and i get up at 5:00 am to go to work so i only watch the 1st round last night and saw you win it. When i got home from work i saw on you tube that you won the Walley. i am so very happy for you and Donna. You are a great human being and i only wish there were more people like you in this world. We are with in 5 years of the same age and a lot of people say nice guys like us never win but are proving them wrong!!!!!
You and all your team deserved the trophy this weekend! Thanks for being you. Always a pleasure to shake your hand or fist bump. Might have teared up on the drive home.
Clay another great video with one more reason to love and respect you more than I already do along with Mrs. Donna, the pups and your AMAZING CREW /FAMILY AND THIS PRECIOUS LADY DEFINITELY IS FAMILY JUST FOR THE NUMBER OF YEARS Y'ALL HAVE KNOWN ONE ANOTHER. I CAN TELL SHE'S AN AMAZING LADY WHO LOVES HER RACER'S THAT ALWAYS SHOW UP TO RACE PLUS SHE BELIEVES IN GOD🙏🏻 I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER AND HAVE NEVER MET HER BUT I KNOW WE WOULD BECOME FAST LIFETIME FRIENDS. IT'S SAD DAY THAT ANOTHER TRACK IS DISAPPEARING!! BREAKS MY HEART 💔 TO KNOW ANOTHER AWESOME TRACK HAS GONE AWAY!! IN A SPORT THAT SO MANY PEOPLE LOVE AND ENJOY, SURELY GOD WILL PROVIDE A WAY FOR THEM TO BUILD ANOTHER TRACK NEARBY OR FIND ONE THAT'S GOT THE BASIC STRUCTURES IN PLACE THAT JUST NEED SOME TLC (LIKE DALE EARNHARDT JR DID WITH NORTH WILKESBORO). FROM an idea for scanning the track for iRacing into a full fledged come back, rising from the ashes like a Phoenix and racing some great races even on the old asphalt. Clay I pray that this precious family who loves and respects you and the othe driver's and crews ,they too will be able to come back better and stronger than ever. Much love to you and Mrs Donna and y'all's 2 four legged adorable pups. I could sit and pet and love on them all Day as if they aren't spoiled enough..LOL 😂😂😂AND LOVE TO YOUR PRECIOUS CREW WHO I MUST SAY IS THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS!!! Y'ALL ARE A BLESSING TO ME AND I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL I CAN GET TO A TRACK to meet y'all in person!!! It would be a dream come true. 💞🤗💞🏆🏆🏆🇺🇸🏆🏆🏆🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Congratulations Clay!!! You did it!!! Last Wally. I was crying! I had my husband on the phone, giving him the play by play., as he was on his way to Alabama. Thank goodness no one called 911....I was hollering her in Olive Branch MS!!!!
I was there in 79, and again in 20 when I moved to CO, and cant believe its closing!!! I hope they open another track!! Clay thanks for the one on one!!
What an awesome story Clay thank so much for sharing, what a cool person Tami is I'll bet she has stories to go on for hours there's probably a documentary in there.....✌
History always loved it. The opportunity to know the background of people and places is really interesting. Thanks all for a very entertaining 18 minutes. We need more Clay. Good luck today!
Well put, "we are just caretakers." Yes, God has given us all that we have to be good stewards of. Thanks for a cool interview. I hope they can build another one.
Dude....this is why I'm a fan for life. I'd like to see you win every final round, but when you *don't* win......I don't think you've ever blamed anyone but yourself and you're just as gracious winning as you are losing. You and your team are a true class act win or lose :-)
Grew up here. Participated in high school drags here. Fun fact for the Coloradans; I had horses at 58th and McIntyre in Arvada well north of the track. When the top fuelers and funny cars would run, the sound traveled north along the hog back. I swear, you could hear them plain as day. Track was built well before 470 existed. I think you had to take Rooney road to get there? Back then, Rooney road had a dump and an 84 lumber. I miss the old cow town.
I want to thank Clay for putting this interview together as I grew up going to Bandimere from the old track to the new. And even raced there for close to 20 years and know the Bandimere family well. But moving away from Colo in 2002 to Springfield Mo. area and have always missed the family atmosphere that has been a way of life for them out there. Unfortunately growth pushes facilities like this out when they have provided a very personal place for the community to race at a place that is above and beyond other places of the same potential . Thank you again Clay Millican for a very good interview ! Richard Como
From the first drag and drive I ever watched, Bandimere was my absolute favorite track! Just such a cool setting. I’m sad I’ll never get to go there and experience the track for myself.
I too have been involved with drag racing for over four decades. I ventured into road circuit racing under the badass banner of the SCCA. It's been a privilege and a whole lot of fun thanks to people like Clay and countless others. And it's proudly MADE IN MY COUNTRY THE USA. 🎉 100% MADE IN AMERICA 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hello Tami, In the early mid '60s as a high school teen it was a thrill to drive to Denver from Boulder to shop at the Bandimere speed shop off Speer Blvd somewhere in that west side of downtown area. I know John Jr worked behind the counter back then, can't help wondering if we dealt with him when buying our 12:1 Jahns pistons, dual point distributors and such... There were five drag strips around the greater Denver area back during the '60s, can't help wondering exactly where the Arvada site was, that whole area was pretty empty back then... We raced at Mountain View near Erie, still partly visible on google maps just south of and across the Erie Pkwy from the Erie High School...I must say that Denver was a better place because of the Bandimere Family...Best wishes.
@Clay Millican loved watching you over the weekend make history. Congrats on number 5. Super sad that Bandimere is closing it has been a part of my families life for 4 generations.
Congrats on the win today you did great so sad to see Bendemeer raceway go away. I’ve been following this since I was 16 we lost a race track in Salt Lake City Utah about 10 years ago. Hasn’t been the same way to go play for a winning Bendemere today then tastic.
What an awesome and amazing track. So unfortunate that it’s closing up. 😢 what a unique place and pice of history. Thanks for the video insight Clay, much appreciated 🙏
Really interesting and very nice interview though it was a little difficult to hear at times. I've never been to that race track and I'm a little sad that it's closing but just shows where things are probably headed. Thanks Clay and Tami and Tracy.
Opportunity for the next phase or adventure in life. Candy Bandimere said "hold on loosely, be a good steward of the project you are given" [then move to the next]. Wise woman.

Sadly, fair well to yet another racetrack. This has to stop. America is disappearing bit by bit each day.

This interview touched my heart.
Lifelong friends who both have a Love for the same thing, but from different perspectives. This was really COOL.
Thanks CLAY. 😎🇺🇸
Agreed. I enjoyed Tami's perspective as much as Clay's. This was a fantastic interview. Many memories over the last 55 years!
CONGRATULATIONS CLAY AND THE RWR TEAM ON A HISTORIC VICTORY AT THE LAST RACE EVER AT BANDIMERE!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉

Such a nice interview. A wonderful tribute to the family, AND the track. Hope you win today! Can't imagine how much that would mean to you. 🙏
Thanks for sharing Clay. Really sad to hear about another track closing. This makes 5 tracks i have raced at from the 80s to now. What a shame.

Congratulations on earning the very last Top Fuel Wally at Bandimere
I was there in 82 and was blown away sitting in the mountain grand stand. The nitros acoustics was crazy. Sorry to see the end.
I think you give your new wally to the Bandimere Family for their 65-year dedication to the Sport! Congratulations Awesome Job. See you in Seattle!,

So sad. The great strips are disappearing every where. 😢😢😢

Nice win buddy!!!! Awesome way to close the place out
Sad to see them closing. Heartland Park in Topeka stand a good chance of closing too. There is a lawsuit over some back taxes being unpaid.
Congratulations Clay.

Congratulations on the win! Bittersweet but you got the last one!
Congrats sir. Was awesome to see the win. Can't wait for you to do it again at fall nationals when we are there.
She even knew Clay! Congratulations
Another dragway gone. Bandimere is another casualty to the real estate clowns. Phoenix and Englishtown are missed too.
Congrats Clay! She predicted it! I cant wait for the video!
Really interesting and very nice interview though it was a little difficult to hear at times. I've never been to that race track and I'm a little sad that it's closing but just shows where things are probably headed. Thanks Clay and Tami and Tracy.
Dam another great event lost to the times Sadly the list is growing of lost race tracks very sad. Don’t like change at all but it’s the way it is.
