  • In this video, I will explain the differences between routed mode and pass-through mode on an MX Security Appliance under Addressing VLANs page. Routed mode is the default mode when you order an MX and it offers features like a stateful firewall, content filtering, and intrusion detection. It uses network address translation (NAT) to change the source IP address of packets. On the other hand, pass-through mode has the same features as routed mode but does not change the source IP address of packets. It is useful when you want the functionality of an MX without it being the main firewall. Additionally, I will discuss VPN concentration and how it can be used to simplify VPN connections between multiple sites.
