This video is gold. Thank you, Lance, for an insight into your trading day with some tips on treating trading like a business with a balanced lifestyle! Thank you!
Thank you again Lance for such a high quality video! I really appreciate everything you do for the trading community, learned so much from you. Pretty crazy to think that you and SMB provide all that stuff for free.
Sometimes we can push harder. Sometimes we need to lay off. First couple years worked much longer hours to get past learning curve. This was my sustainable long-term routine. Plus would do a few hours on Sundays.
@@lancebreitstein7038 Thanks for the response Lance. I aspire to be the best trader that I can be. You are a great inspiration. Hopefully we will meet someday.

Hi Lance, what a great video, so inspiring it really hits home for me it's not just about trading its about taking care of yourself I really got to do that myself I'm nearly tearing up as I write, this because it's feels like you exactly what I'm going through as trader
I feel you my man. Trading makes you want to be a better person and make better decisions in your personal life. I think thats why most successful people tend to be happier because they take such good care of themselves physically, mentally, and spiritually.
I’d be interested to see how this could be applied for parents that work full time and want to be able to transition their career to this. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like being on the east coast, or close to, is where you want to be. These breakdowns don't translate nearly as well being on the west coast. I couldn't imagine getting 9 hours of sleep and still having that much time pre-market.
@@RocnRed9 there's no way for me to go to sleep early enough to get 7-8 hours and wake up rested at 430-5. I used to wake up at 5 and I was a zombie by 630, even when I had my caffeine.
@@RocnRed9 true. Even when I'm super tired, I still can't manage to fall asleep until later on. Oh well. I've had to adjust with less time pre-market, but thankfully I'm still making it work.
Why not? I do. I live in the Pacific Northwest. I trade futures, so I'm trading even earlier than 6:30am. The first week was tough and I was out of sorts getting myself to sleep so early, but now I'm used to it. It's doable. How bad to you want it?
8:30am EST is an odd time to be checking for event catalysts since that's precisely when the major ones are released premarket: NFP, CPI, PMI, GDP etc.
Highly Recommend Dr. Steenbargers "Trading Psychology 2.0" on the topic of trading routines. Brett covers 50 or so best practices of professional, successful traders.

Hi Lance, isn't 30 mins very less for checking your stocks, their technical levels and setting alerts? I am struggling to cover everything before market opens even when tried to allot an hour for this activity

Before I take a trade, I tell my self. “I will not get bagged today”. It really helps me to make better trades.
😆 I say "I will not get clapped today".
4:16 "Am I hungover" lol. This is the checklist that I've been missing for years alright.
This is one of the most helpful videos on day trading I’ve seen yet. Good job on this one.
Glad it was helpful!

Great video. Thanks for being so candid Lance. Only started trading 8 mths ago and can relate to, and learn from, pretty much everything you said.
I know 1 10 figure trader who follows a strict routine like this. He is also big on walks around the block to cool down.
That is a very balanced daily routine, for some reason I expected it to be more hard core.

It’s not ideal but definitely doable. I’m a west coast trader and wake up between 4:30-5:00AM while still getting 7-8 hours of sleep, which is plenty.

what is a DRC, daily routine criteria?
Dont fight the trend!! I struggle with that.

I might have missed it but what does PTD Stand for ?
How can I trade the whole day the longer the stay in the market the more money I use the first hour I make the most money
Thanks for your great content Lance. Appreciate it. Just wondering what you think about mindfulness practices?
Prob very beneficial. But doesn’t need to be taken too seriously. A few mindful minutes before bed works for me.
Taking a peaceful breather and walk around the block during Manhattan business hours lol
haha, Lance was trading in Chicago but I'd imagine similar to NYC
