For those of us who have been using Excel for many years and were forced to learn long and complicated functions, including array formulas, these new functions are mindboggling! Thanks!
@@stenionet I was using Excel 2007 for a long time. When Office 2021 came out, I finally upgraded. I am happy I have some of the new dynamic array formulas - but I will probably get jealous of these new formulas. At least I still have Power Query to be able to manipulate data - which is a lot better than using the old, long formulas - especially the old array formulas.

These functions were just introduced yesterday by the great Excel development team to the Office insider community. Although I have seen a few other early bird MVPs introduce this function to the audience, I haven't seen anyone who explained it in an easy-to-understand way like you Leila. As always you have presented outstandingly well and concisely. Keep it up!
I totally concur with this. I took up learning VBA due to a lot of these types of formulas missing from Excel. Glad to see them continuing to add to the collection of Formulas in Excel.
The CHOOSECOLS function is going to be awesome! This makes doing FILTER SORT tables even better because I won't have to create staging tables that only include the data I want to show in the filtered and sorted table. I can easily create a subset of the original data and display only what I want to display. Such a game changer!
You are amazing, Leila. Your course on VBA made me fall in love with programming and I nailed two interviews yesterday. Python was super easy to learn after VBA and now I can finally see some hope in my life. Thank you so much.
Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to learn VBA? And then subsequently Python? It's something I've avoided up until recently but it would be good to put into perspective the time frame I'm looking at
@@stuartkay1393 depends on how much time you're willing to spend. I don't have a life and enjoy pace learning and I was able to complete VBA in less than three weeks. Don't tell Leila but I've skipped the capstone projects in her VBA course lol. 😂
Thank you for presenting these new time saving functions. As always, you explained them so well with real world examples of how we might apply them. You are a Master!! Thank you
I’ve made a table a few days before and i even thought “this have to be done much easier” and now there it is! :-) Hope the update will be installed soon on my business devices. Thanks for this “breaking”! 👍
You can already do much of these tasks without functions in Excel using the options in the Data tab and Power Query. Also, as Leila mentioned, some of these functions are just replacing older functions which can also get the job done but aren't always as flexible. Depending on your level of expertise most of these new functions are just a niche.
A bit arrogant to call these niche. Most Excel users dont work in power query but their business needs would value these new formulas, without having to have expert excel/BI skills.
Do You Have any idea how much I was striving for such group of equations?!!!,, I have been doing these same functions the completely hard way, this is a life savior and THANKS A TON for posting this video, I never regret watching any of your videos
I agree, at first glace, TEXTSPLIT will be the first new function that I can easily integrate into my regular routine. Thanks, Leila, I heard about these new functions but waited for your video. You always do a great job of adding simplicity and clarity to everything related to Excel.
Excel's recent(ish) developments have been AMAZING. Xlookups, dynamic arrays like unique/filter, upcoming searchable auto-completing lists. And now text split and choose cols, which will have many use cases! Super exciting. Please Excel team: dependent dropdowns / multiple dependent dropdowns??
Waiting for google sheets to bring these in too .. had used excel formulas for over 15 years , but just 2 years back realised how much more powerful google sheets is ..

Wow, everyone was wonderful! I have been doing this with long long formula.... My heart goes to say THANKS TEAM EXCEL only after *Thank You Excel Queen Leila* !!!!
OMG! What an amazing "array" of array functions! Can't wait to have them generally available! BTW, difficult to choose a favourite yet, because for now all seem to be equally useful! Thank you Leila for this nice demo with clear explanation!👌👍
I created a very complex dashboard in Excel to use for my job as a Training Supervisor, tracking training schedules, tracking documents, staff lists, a matrix and so on. This will eliminate so many of the confusing formulas I had to come up with and make it easier to add/remove people from certain parts when staff changes.
Fantastic developments, but there still remains the challenge of having spill natured formulas to function within a table. Thanks Leila for the great explanation of underlying principles. Can't wait to use them.
I get the value of the new functions, especially targeted at non programmers, but it would be nice if they added formal regex support. I've had my own UDFs for regex for several decades, but it would be nice if it came "out of the box"
