Nicaragua Living Comparing the Coastal Life to Inland Cities 🇳🇮

  • A viewer asks me to compare life along Nicaragua's beautful Pacific Coast against what it is like in the inland cities. Is there really a big difference? Which is right for you?
    #nicaragua #pacific #nicaragualiving
Often expats fixate on the Rivas Coast or the Costa Esmeralda in southern Nicaragua. But Nicaraguans think of the northern Pacific Coast primarily when desiring to head out for time on the beach and taking a dip in the water. More than comparing inland to the coast, we may need to compare enclaves to traditional Nicaraguan living.

Which are you looking for: beach life or inland like city, farm or mountain? Don't forget that we will be live tonight, too!

Lots of good information. I like the added bit of Nicaraguan history. My ancestor was a 49er who traveled through Nicaragua and decided to stay, 😂. He ended up settling in Leon. I see the appeal of people wanting to stay in enclaves, but I wouldn't encourage people not to learn Spanish (I know you generally do promote learning Spanish). Ultimately they're moving to a Spanish speaking country and learning the language is important for a multitude of reasons. My family lived in Managua and traditionally it's been the center of the hustle and bustle, nightlife, work, etc. Never would've thought of living in SJDS or any other beach. Even though people did traditionally keep vacation homes on the beaches. Things have definitely changed, but definitely agree with your perception of coastal living in Nicaragua.

      Thank you :)
I"ve developed the Nicaraguan sense of "live in the city, weekend on the beach" myself.

@@ScottAlanMillerVlog my dad's family (all from Leon) had a beach house in Poneloya when he was growing up and he just absolutely loves it there. He always took us there growing up. Definitely an easy drive from Leon. Another reason to love Leon.

I am really enjoying these videos Scott Allan keep up the good work :-) I will be in Nicaragua with my family this November, I'll be bringing my husband, my mom and my 9 and eleven year old boys. My husband and I went last year but only stayed in the Matagalpa region for about a week. This time around I want to visit the coastal area for at least a week, then plan to head to the Matagalpa region again for another week. I am thinking of renting a house close to a beach, any recommendations as to which areas might be better for the whole family? We will be arriving in Managua and will be renting a car from there.

I just made a video responding to this. Not sure when it will be up, maybe in about a week. The video schedule is pretty crazy.

Managua is a very fast city people are not as polite as the ppl from other cities, for foreigners i recomend not to live in the capital unless you invest in business but for retiring living our pasific coast is the paradise

I love living on the farm and having the beach minutes away it's the best of both worlds. Leon is awesome because you have those options plus the additional benefit of having the city minutes away also. Win win win

Hey Scott, you mentioned in your live stream last night that New York is one of the worst states to leave from to go abroad as an expat because New York reserves the right to take away your child’s passport over schooling. Would you be able to provide the reference website to show me where it would say something like that that through the New York government website? I was just doing a quick search on Google and didn’t seem to be able to use the right words to find articles about that. Also, at one point, my wife and I were thinking about moving to New Hampshire prior to moving to Nicaragua. I’m wondering if you have heard of New Hampshire as also being a good option for taxes/homeschooling.

It's been a while since we lived in NY. I don't keep the old resources handy. We moved to Texas to get away from the risks and never let our kids be school age in NY. Any references I have would have changed their links by now.
