i am BEGGING you to cover the suspiria remake. PLEAAAAASE
The taking of Debrah Logan
Chasing sleep
Thanks!
Suspiria, the void, what we do in the shadows, repo the genetic opera, the love witch, Salem's lot and the ginger snaps trilogy
Still asking you to do Night in the Woods and Pink Floyd's The Wall.
Please cover literally ANY home invasion movie ever. Please, Ryan, please.
At this point, Ryan should make an entire horror short revolving around Raycons
I imagine it go like the gorefield skit lumpytouch did if he made one
The 1:35 long sponsorship segment is horror enough for me. Lol.
might be bad for business if the raycons sunk into his brain and caused him hear and endless loop of Eli Roth's self absorbed babbling
I have misophonia and this is giving me some ideas
That would just be 20 minutes of someone listening to music through raycons lol
This is why I love this channel. Instead of making 50 videos about why Halloween is the only horror movie that matters, you cover several relatively obscure flicks that deserve attention.
Very true.
I need those Ray Con ear buds to drown out those Banshee shrieks with those soothing "HOYEVERS."
god bless the hoyevers
Funny how in the 21st cent we still call them hoovers when they are actually vacuum cleaners.. Something about why the english hoover the front room instead of vacuum clean it... Lol. Still me too so......
Lol. I can’t believe he said if you want to experience his hoyevers lol
@@solcutta3661 no oft calls them Hoover’s
The moral of the story: if Michael Smiley tells you something, you f'ing listen close, sunshine.
I was on a film with him .... Normally you "can't talk to the stars", but he doesn't seem to see himself that way. Lovely fella
Questionnaire: What gives you maximum satisfaction?
Me: Ryan uploads and promotes Irish films
Me: when I hear the "Hoyever..."
Me: Ryan saying hoyever and hoyce
Ryan: The sweet sounds of Raycon
Agreed! I'm Australian but never mind that, I watched The Hallows today by chance & then found Ryan's upload. I couldn't agree with your comment more! 🙂
OMG I seriously thought this movie was a fever dream. I watched this while I was recovering from surgery and doped to the gills, had no idea what it was, and never found it again. Now that I have a name I have to watch it again.
Got to give a shout out to my favorite forgotten Irish horror film: Citadel (2012)
Citadel is fantastic!
@@RyanHollinger You know watching your video brought about an interesting concept in my mind: The Hallow vs. Citadel, Rural Corruption vs. Urban Corruption. Both movies even use symbols of 'the innocent' being corrupt and the dangers to children. Interesting.
Man is truly an artist when he speaks

I adore how Ryan's realized how much sway he has over us with his "howevers."
Hoyevers*
Time to enjoy my lunch break the right way
Ikr, I just pulled out some chicken egg rolls out of the oven and suddenly there's a new Ryan Hollinger upload! Nice. ✨👍
I just saw this and was like well hey it's lunch time. Finally some good fucking content
My grandparents were born and raised in Ireland but left. They told my mom stories of changelings and she told me those stories
I'm from ireland and these stories have kind of died off over here unfortunately
@@princessnovainacottage3326 such a shame honestly. Petition to return to the 70s and 80s where traumatising children was ok.
I’m from Ireland too. My granny lives in a really isolated rural area in Tyrone and she used to frighten the shite out of me as a child with stories about banshees, so the tradition’s still alive in some areas.
@@princessnovainacottage3326 You say unfortunately, but the stories of changelings did harm a lot of real people back when people still believed in them. At least in my home country of Norway, back when people believed in changelings, basically any child who had some form of mutation, Down's syndrome, and so on, were believed to be changelings, and it was common knowledge that you either needed to beat the child mercilessly to get the subterranean people to take them back and give back the child they stole, or leave them in the woods to die. I'm sure it worked similarly in Ireland too. They're interesting stories, for sure, but it is a very good thing that people don't believe in them anymore.
How do you defend against theme?
you forgot to mention the sheer badarsery behind the image of a hybrid weilding a flaming scythe. . . like thats so much more metal than i was expecting lol
The way the dad transforms and has to come to terms with it makes me think about the main character in District 9.
I’m obsessed with the way Ryan shows off the earbuds while awkwardly going 👁👁👀👁👁👀👁👁👀
The eye scene with the hand getting closer is such a good shot. I watched this movie about 5 years ago and that’s the only scene that stuck with me
oh my god this movie looks amazing- and pRACTICAL EFFECTS??? It literally can't get any better
I just picture him writing and finishing his script. He starts to record the video when suddenly panic sets in as he comes to a horrible realization. He forgot to insert "however" into it.
*hoyever
Here's hoping that Irish horror filmmakers know how much exposure they've been receiving from Ryan's videos someday. 💖
Plot twist: This film is actually written and directed by an Englishman! Still Irish overall tho
@@RyanHollinger Oh okay lol. But the point still stands! 👍😊
Me:Steps on leaf
Fairies:"and i took that personally"
The visual effects in this movie were actually insanely impressive, I think due to the use of practical effects used with the monsters. It really surprised me going into it and added quite a bit to the experience.
What i like in this channel is that each time i start watching the beginning of the video, stop it, i go watch the movie and i come back to finish the video.
Thanks Ryan for giving me a lot of new and obscure film to watch.
it's a blast.
And continue to cover irish movies, i think they are wondeful
As an actor who was recently acting on the set of an indie Irish horror feature film, the entire time i was performing i could hear your commentaries in the back of my head.
I hope what you've taught me about horror helps the film 😁!
Horror Daddy dropping another banging video
Jokes on you, episode title. I saw this in the Chinese Theater during Screamfest right after having some drinks and a chat with the writer and director! And it was amazing.
I watched this a couple of weeks ago on Prime after it was recommended after I watched Crone Woods, and then again after watching Spell (Icelandic set horror) and enjoyed it quite a bit. I agree it’s probably the best Irish horror I’ve seen. It also made me miss and become nostalgic for the old country. It’s been far too long since I’ve been back. Excellent review
The Hallow was awesome, the semi-scientific way they explain the “fae” and “changelings” was cool, and seeing the two GoT alums and Michael Smiley is always welcome. I’m a huge fan of Irish Mythology, too.
Speaking of Irish Horror, though; Have you given “The Hole in the Ground” a watch, yet? Similar ground, but less of a creature feature.
Also “Citadel”, “The Canal”, and “Wakewood” or others that I thought were pretty good.
Bruh, im bord as hell and this pops up, so sick
Great work as always. The Hallow was fantastic, and yeah, they really are squandering a goldmine of content from European faerie folklore. I've always wanted to see a movie based around the Nuckelavee, but nobody has ever made one that I know of.
I absolutely love Celtic folklore and mythology. It’s so overlooked by many but it is just amazing
I can't remember the last time I vacuumed the hiyse, hiyever, I constantly clean my desk.
I’m Irish and I never saw this film, I’m going to add it to my list. And I agree Irish folklore is rich with potential.
I always thought Hardy would’ve been the perfect filmmaker to take on an adaptation of Hellboy. The hallow is a superb horror folklore story
I need more Irish films in my life
The heretics in outlast 2 reminds me of the changelings from the hallows
Ryan made me hop on the Irish horror train and now I’m stuck on it. I’m not complaining.👏👏
Really enjoyed The Hallow! Folklore-based spookiness is always a good time in my book, when it’s handled well. Great atmosphere to this film.
Love the vids brother! Always happy to see an upload!
I always love when you cover lesser known films. I started watching The Hallow a few years ago on Netflix but turned it off after half-an-hour or so (I did the same thing with The Witch). After watching this, I want to give it another shot
I actually *had* seen this movie, and I'm not saying it to be a dick, but more out of gratitude :D I'd seen it a few years ago and had felt quite meh about it, but because you kept bringing it up positively I went and rewatched it last year. And enjoyed it a lot actually ! so thanks :D And since then, I kept hoping you'd make a proper video about it, and now yay you did, so double thanks. And since this is my first comment, thank you for all your work, and all the videos. It's always a pleasure to hear you talk about the movies I've seen (and then rewatch them), and also a pleasure to pick up ideas of things to watch when I haven't seen the movies (watched Triangle and rewatched Slither thanks to you recently, and liked/reliked them both).
Basically: thank you, and I look forward to watching more of your videos :)
I'm so glad someone is talking about this movie!!! I found it when I was digging through the backlogs of mislabled youtube horror movies and loved it wholeheartedly!!
I remember finding this movie one night while my mom and I were doing one of our movie nights (where we'd find something that seemed shoddy and basically riff it to pieces). We were actually really happy with this one.
watched this movie with my mom not too long ago and she liked it so much that whenever horror movies are the topic of a conversation she just has to mention it 😄
It's crazy how little known this gem is. It has a great look and introduces lore subtly yet effectively.
I'd get a pair of RayCon's just to hear Ryan's "hoyevers" more clearly
Before watching the Hallow, looking up “Bridget Cleary” could help to set the tone for those new to the Irish conception of Fairies.
I also have to show specific love to the book’s design in this movie. All the ogham script accents and black & white illustrations look really cool, and deepen the lore with those connections to the preexisting mythos.
U can't tell me what I've not seen and seen!
I seen this years ago. And loved it.
Just watched this movie, and just from the fact that it uses practical effects... it’s so fucking beautiful. Hauntingly beautiful. I love it
When I saw this movie for the first time, I was absolutely shook. I watched it another two times before it went off Netflix. It was such a harrowing story, it traumatised and captivated me at the same time lol
Your reviews are always so enchanting. I love your passion
You make work go by faster! As a Horror lover I appreciate you 🙏🏻
This movie was a lot of fun. I knew as soon as they took those bars down they were in trouble. I actually saw this before i saw The Witch.
personly as an irish person i am glad this exists
so glad you finally covered this amazing movie! i saw it years ago and have been in love with it since
I would also recommend the 2016 Irish-British horror film 'A Dark Song'; few people know it exists.
I watched this movie at a horror film festival, and it got a big pop from the crowd. The sound design, in particular, is fantastic in _The_ _Hallow._ I love that "Straw Dogs meets Pan's Labyrinth" pitch. :D
Saw the first 3 mins of this video, stopped to go watch this film. It just got on shudder and it was FANTASTIC!!! Now I’m back to finish your video after all these many months, thank you for always having such insightful horror recommendations.
Thank you so much for reminding me of this amazing film, Ryan! I can’t wait to rewatch it.
Those "hyevers" are my favorites
Was wondering when you'd cover this one. I watched it a little while back after I heard you mention it in an earlier retrospective and I enjoyed it quite a bit! Love the videos as always, keep it up!
It´s an amazing horrormovie and little tip for the credits - please listen to the song playing at the end of the movie. It´s from the band "Dry the River" and so works with the atmosphere of the movie itself. Great review as always Ryan.
your videos are quite the highlight of my week lately
I just watched this film and, honestly, it's a banger. Loved every moment of it.
I discover so much new and underrated film due to this channel, it's amazing.
I love your work, Ryan! Thank you for what you do
I have been WAITING for you to cover this one.
I stumbled upon this movie when it was on Netflix, so happy I did I adore this film and so impressed and happy you covered it. I sort of assumed you would since it's Irish.
Consistently introducing me to new and exciting entries in horror!
What a brilliant conclusion as well.
I lov this film yes! The scene in the car is so well executed and the camera flash bit was terrifying. Great vid as always x
Another fantastic video keep up the good work mate
were getting quite a bit of videos this week thanks :)
I'm Irish and Living in Ireland and I've Never heard of Changelings until "The Hole in the Ground". In My school atleast we only Learned about Christianity and every now and then Finn Mccool.
What a pleasant surprise! I needed this today. Thank you Ryan!
It makes me happy when Ryan uploads a new video.
Man, the amount of your videos I can't watch yet, because I still want to see the movie first is growing xD
Great content, thanks!
Just came into my mind a spanish film called Timecrimes, it may be interesting to give a rewatch
I'm definitely going to have to watch this. I love dark fairy tales, creepy forests, and Irish folklore.
Doing a little poking around, I do find it interesting that the baby's name is "Finn", given that one of the most legendary *humans* in Irish folklore was Fionn Mac Cumhail, who defeated a prince of the Sidhe and was renowned for his wisdom.
Being rescued from a fairy barrow would fit right in as an Irish hero origin story.
I got Raycons last year, and I love them! I enjoy listening to your channel, especially your accent
I thought nothing could be better than hiyever: then I heard Ryan say bebay.
I was at the Irish premiere of this movie, and it played pretty well. It's not a masterpiece, but is still a pretty good stab at Irish horror. I especially like the movie's take on faeries -- much closer to actual faerie folklore than the usual cute Disney pixies, etc.
Stumbled across this Movie couple years ago. And it positively suprised me. I really love Irish folklore. Wish more Horrorflix would work with this topic.
This film is awesome and the fx are phenomenal
Ryan!!! YOU ARE MARVELOUS!
MY! WHAT A LUSH VOCABULARY YOU HAVE!
I 💘 ed this channel as soon as I found it. Fabulous work. Keep it up!
Thank you for reminding me that I saw this movie years ago. I had totally forgotten I saw this. Great movie.
This movie looks incredible. Thanks for the introduction!
Thank you, I've been asking for this one to get reviewed for over a year lol. It's amazing how almost nobody has ever heard of it.
I love it when he says “hy-ever”
I saw this movie a while ago but I forgot the name, I absolutely love this! Thank you so much!!
Hell yeah. This is exactly what I was hoping for today! Thanks, mate.
I saw a few comments of people claiming that if we cut down all of the trees we will lose our sole source of oxygen. Which is not true..Trees only provide a smaller percentage. But still as our technology grows we should find a way to preserve as many as we can no doubt. Good movie though & great video as always Mr. Ryan 🤩
I saw this years ago (2015 I think on Netflix) I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Happy to see someone talking about this film.
Yay! I was hoping you would cover more Irish horror movies. I have seen this, and it's quite good.
Waking up to a new vid is the absolute best way to start the day
Did Ryan's accent get even STRONGER in this review? No complaints, it's charming. Also: Ryan, do you speak Gaelic?
And - any chance of more folklore horror movies or recommendations? I would really love to know about any. I adore Lovecraftian horror (Colour out of Space was pretty good!) too.
I love it when you cover the less well-known horror movies!! 💕
I saw this movie in theaters back in 2015 and got excited about what Corin Hardy's gonna do next, and then The Nun happened
You should cover The Hole in the Ground.
I saw it at Sundance and the audience laughed so hard that the director walked out lol
I admit that I've never heard of this, but some of the creature effects look amazing.
Watched it on theaters and it was a very pleasant surprise. Such a nice movie.
