- The Castle of Monteriggioni was built by the Sienese, by order of the podestà Guelfo da Porcari, in a period between 1213 and 1219. The land, purchased by the noble Da Staggia family, was the site of an ancient Lombard farm (the name of Montis Regis probably indicated a land owned royally or which enjoyed tax exemptions from the crown).
The construction of the castle by the Republic of Siena had mainly defensive purposes, as the village was built on Mount Ala in a position of dominion and surveillance of the Francigena, to control the Elsa and Staggia valleys in the direction of Florence, historical rival of Siena.
The circular layout of the walls was obtained simply by following the natural course of the hill.
The Castle of Monteriggioni was also surrounded by the so-called charcoal pits, i.e. ditches full of coal which was set on fire to repel attacks.
In recent years Monteriggioni has taken on greater tourist importance having been included within the Via Francigena route by the Council of Europe, and is therefore part of the Cultural Itineraries. In this context it constitutes stage 32. It is a walking route that starts from Piazza Roma in Monteriggioni and arrives at Piazza del Campo in Siena, for a distance of 20.6 km. Due to its relevance within the Via Francigena it was included in a territorial reconstruction project of the medieval landscape

Per le riprese in notturna da terra rende bene la osmo pocket 3...video su Siena e San Gimignano 😉 nessun NR in post.

@@EBdronemore te lo chiedevo perchè ho usato questo filtro "Filtro per obiettivo della fotocamera con riduzione dell'inquinamento luminoso" su Amazon e devo dire che sebbene lievemente ma migliora le clip notturne, grazie e arrivederci alle terre senesi si fa per dire, mi sto studiando tutte le tue clip per programmarmi le tappe del mio tour 2024, ciao.
