Pienza " the ideal city" - Val d'Orcia - Tuscany

- Pienza, located on the top of a hill overlooking the Val d'Orcia, 53 km south-east of Siena, was founded in the Middle Ages with the name of Corsignano. The city was then renamed and redesigned in the late 15th century by Pope Pius II. Born in this Tuscan city, Enea Silvio Piccolomini was an important humanist before being elected Pope in 1458.
It was in this town in Tuscany that Renaissance urban planning concepts were put into practice for the first time, following Pius II's decision to commission Bernardo Rossellino to transform the appearance of his native village. Rossellino applied the principles of his teacher, Leon Battista Alberti, humanist philosopher and architect, author of the first treatise on Renaissance architecture. The Pope was also inspired by the German philosopher and cardinal Niccolò Cusano and by the Germanic Gothic tradition. This is evident inside the Cathedral of Pienza, in the typical late Gothic style of southern German churches, while the exterior is in pure Renaissance forms. The bell tower mixes Gothic and Renaissance forms.
The new vision of urban space took shape in the splendid trapezoidal square, known as Piazza Pio II. The construction of important new buildings around the square began in 1459, and included the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the Palazzo Piccolomini, the Palazzo Borgia (or Palazzo Episcopale), the Presbytery, the Town Hall and the Palazzo Ammannati.
As the first application of the Renaissance humanistic concept of urban design, the city occupies a decisive position in the evolution of the concept of the planned "ideal city", which would play a significant role in subsequent urban development in Italy and abroad.
Due to the beauty of its Renaissance historic centre, in 1996 Pienza became part of the UNESCO natural, artistic and cultural heritage, followed in 2004 by Val d'Orcia.

La musica, la colonna sonora per me è molto importante. Dopo le riprese di Pienza ho lasciato decantare le immagini per un po' di tempo finché non ho trovato una musica che mi ispirasse per il montaggio. Una volta trovata il lavoro è stato in discesa. Qualche volta edito la colonna sonora per adattarla ai contenuti, come ad esempio nel video di "Chiusure".
Pienza l'ho visitata anni fa, è un diamante. Video sempre top👍👍👏👏😀

Questo è per me uno dei piu' bei video che hai realizzato, per la qualità delle immagini e per la musica, ma soprattutto per il raffinato e originale montaggio che valorizza certi dettagli significativi e caratteristici e in modo magnifico il rapporto simbiotico fra la "città ideale" e la val d'Orcia.
