Welcome to the Letterman UA-cam Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate - but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era.
This is the best - late night just isn't the same these days.
LOVED IT when Dave & crew went on the road to Los Angeles. The Las Vegas week in 1987 with the Oprah incident was classic.
Oprah was Chicago, 1989.
@@dongiller No. I'm talking about Late Nite Las Vegas, week 1987 when Oprah was a guest. I SAW IT. I have it on videotape.
@@thenostalgicpodblast You might want to recheck.
Oprah guested not in Las Vegas but when LN was in Chicago. May 2, 1989.
@@dongiller She was in Vegas too
@@thenostalgicpodblast No, she wasn’t. Stop digging.
Carson's got no time for Dave & Paul.....he's got a tennis date in Malibu.
I love the musical choices for these montages! My favourite is likely Lionel Ritchie’s “Say You, Say Me” during the renovations of the Ed Sullivan Theatre.
This week of shows was awesome
dave king of late night
I call him the Price
Paul throws a ball just about how you might expect he would 🤭
Of course - he spent his time doing more creative and amazing things!!!
🎹🎼🎵🎶
Dave, on the other hand .....
OMG. Paul looked so awkward throwing a ball
@@richardthelionheart5594 I wonder how many takes it took!
Yeah but he's got a slap shot that would take your head off
@@1FleaBittenVarmint 🤣
I miss this show so much
Being a Los Angelan, I recognized all of these locals, even knowing that as they headed up that hill, they were going to the Hollywood sign. Nothing has changed in all those years. Still the same sites.
Ohh Carson!
Hilarious😅😂
Dang. Now I've got a craving for one of those Tar Pits Hot Fudge Sundaes: 'NOW WITH EXTRA FOSSIL FUEL!' :D
This was so Benny Hill-esque. Fantastic!
Good stuff 😊
Awesome sauce 👌 😎 🙌 👏
Writing is excellent
Jay would have stopped to help change the tire ! 😁😁😁
He pulled over on Mulholland Dr one time to render assistance if needed bc I was stopped along side of the road.
@@richardthelionheart5594 I believe that. Johnny ,Jay and Dave are The Best personalities in Show Biz..."Our Era".
@@SKYSCRAPERTELEVISION True, Johnny or Dave probably would have offered assistance as well. Mega personages but nice people.
Long live the one and only, Larry "Bud" Melman!
Letterman aired in Holland during the early 90s, I never forgot this segment as a kid even though I had no idea who the gray haired man at the end was supposed to be 🙂 Who's Johnny indeed.
Somebody probably already mentioned this, but the Letterman wax figure looks more like George W. Bush than David Letterman.🤣
Definitely doesn't look like Dave.
think only those of us who are Gen-X or older get the Connecticut State Police joke
RIP David and Paul. I can't believe this is how I found out.
This was rich!
Dave drinking the tar 😄 But I don't get the joke about the Connecticut state trooper. Am I missing something on that?
Dave had a reputation for speeding.
@Karen Stepko But why was he pulled over by a Connecticut cop while in California? There was even a close-up shot of the cop's sleeve patch, which said "Connecticut State Trooper". That's the part I don't get.
@@kit2770 he lived in CT. There was where he'd make the news (at least locally) a couple of times a year for getting a speeding ticket on the Merritt State - and he'd talk about it on the show. The joke is along the lines of the CT troopers considering him public enemy #1 to the point of following him to CA.
@PenguinsIsPracticallyChickens Ahhh, I see. That makes good sense. Thank you.
@@ChickensIsPracticallyPenguins
Remember your name from the Bugs Bunny and penguin cartoon . Penguins is praca-ti-cally chickens! Great cartoon.
Those wax figures are terrible! I hope that they were just props for the sketch.
The video colors and focus make this look like deep fake .
Is it wise nowadays to show Social Security numbers for Dan Rather and Connie Chung? Even if they're fake ones?
I got a idea!
Yes, it is wise.
Not Social Security numbers; NBC personal identification numbers
@@Ryan-on5on Look closer...
Late Night did a whole bunch of these types of vignettes, usually playing Sinatra or some 40s jazz of some kind. It would always be Dave on the road somewhere (often with models) and I wish you would post more of them. They were great!
How that dude sat behind Dave is well beyond me.
