Thanks for the exceptional introduction to DSLR Controller. I had watched several videos offered by others and pored over Chainfire's DSLR Controller website. All the reviewers lauded the application and the website listed its many features, but put it all together into a very useful introduction on how to access and employ its many features. I recently bought an inexpensive Android tablet (I'm habitually an iPad user) just to be able to access the DSLR Controller app. I was very impressed when it worked without a hitch and at only a fraction of the cost of the alternatives. However, when I went looking for documentation on how to fully use it I was sorely disappointed. Your tutorial has helped immensely. Thanks again!

Ugh! Your recording volume is way too low. I'm having trouble hearing you with my UA-cam and PC volume all the way to max.

A silent midnight, and my volume maxed up. I can hear him just fine. If I play next video at this volume my neighbors would come to see me.

I'm not sure if this was mentioned but an OTG or On The Go cable is not the same as a Female-Female USB connector. I had a cable which came with my camera and tried connecting it to a Micro-USB cable with the Female-Female but it won't work. You need the OGT cable specifically.
The question, if the camera vide output is mini HDMI, such is Canon 7D Mark II. How it is possible to connect Android device using the OTG cable?
Only works for cameras that deliver output video via USB, Pana does not work. Yes the volume is dead.
1/30 second shutter speed is the longest option. any way i can change the shutter for longer duration like 1 or 2 seconds?

I know this is an old video, but have you had any success playing back footage that’s stored on the camera through the dslr controller app? My 1dx Mark II plays it only 50% of the time. I’m using a Samsung note 8.
Great video very helpful. Did you say you are using magic lantern for timelapse? If so are there any drawbacks to using the DSLR Controller program with the magic lantern firmware? I have a Canon 80D and am trying to get the easiest timelapse apps for my camera. Whatever app or program you are using I would love to see you make another great video. Thank you!!

I tried to remotely control my EOS 550D (purchased in 2011) through my Android tablet Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (highest Android version 6.0.1) over OTG USB cable but attempting with "Remote Release" software (as test prior purchasing "DSLR Controller"), it complains "cannot find camera". I tried even with various USB modes under Android's "Developer options"...
The same OTG USB works fine when connected to PC as mass storage. Tablet is listed as compatible with DSLR Controller. Is there any hope in my case? I'd really like make this work or is there some other software? Many thanks!

I was using DSLR controller app for my 5d Mark 3 after few days I purchased the app. From then I'm not able to connect my camera. The app isn't responding. I tried all possible ways but couldn't use the app. Please reply and let me know about the problem.

Serious question, instead of buying a Canon rebel t6i, t5i or t4i would it just be better/cheaper to buy a t6, t5 or t4? There's a couple hundred dollar difference in price and the only feature the i's have that I'm aware of are the flip screens.
I wanna get a rebel and have a cool rig like this. So I just wanted to know if it would be cheaper/better to just stick with the t6 t5 t4 and all the rig and just use my phone/tablet as a flip screen!

Hey Thanks for the video. Do you have any tips on how the custom white balance works? Do you just switch it on and it's going automatically? On most DSLRs you have to take a photo. Having trouble finding anyone that actually uses it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Biggest problem with this DSLR Controller is that there is now no more support as such. The app has not been updated since 4th November 2014 and from what I have read on the xda developers site thhe app will not be, most replies on there are given by other user. If you want another option that is updated try QDSLRController the last update on that was December 2014 and a very helpful developer there. Russ

I can not get anything on my Window 7 and 10. As well as the one on Samsung Galaxy S2. The only button that works is the ON/OFF (Exit yes or no) from qDSLR Dashboard.
Have you try using the TL-3040, for wireless shooting?
I had no luck on doing this also.
+angelisone Hi, I only use Canon 600D and 6D. The 6D works fine with DSLRController and QDSLRDashboard using the Canon wireless built in, the 600D I use 3040 and the only problem I have on occassion is that unless I activate the camera, (ie with the shutter button or turn off/on). it does not connect first time. I also only use the apps on either Nexus 7 or Lenovo tablet never tried connecting to windows. I always double check that I have set the tablet/s to connect through the apps when I use in the house as I got caught out when I forgot and the Wi-Fi on them still connected to my home router. Have you tried connecting with a cable rather than Wi-Fi first?.

hi great vid body ! I have question for you. I have t5i canon with Samsung tab s2 amoled. all system work fine with but when take picture with my flash on camera the flash don't work anymore... but when my Samsung tablet is deconnected all work fine... any info about this ?

These large displays for camera monitor are great indoors but terrible outdoors, because in bright sun the display is virtually unwatchable. In that case you need a large sunshade which makes the whole rig unwieldy.
William King yes, but... as long as you get a tablet with super AMOLED display, it can actually be bright enough for outdoors if the tablet has a good display, most smartphones these days also have super AMOLED displays for that reason, look it up.
teknowafel sam... well sorry to disagree but my Samsung S7 has the display your referring to but it's still worthless for outside viewing in bright sunlight.
William King did you turn the brightness up and/or turn on the outdoor mode extra brightness boost?
teknowafel sam.. yes I have adjusted the brightness. I've had the same issues with my s5 and s7. These are great displays. I love the resolution of these displays but imo there will never be a substitute for a evf for taking photos in adverse lighting. That is simply a drawback that these monitors will have a problem overcoming. These super amoled displays are amazing but simply don't do that well in high contrast situations. Over cast is fine but bright sunlight is a serious problem from my experience.

Does anybody understands that this app not working on ANY device. Not working on any Samsung (tablet, smartphone), any mediatek device ... i can demonstrate with video. Ones it Works 5 minute on a no name tablet and there was a latency of 5 seconds.
Not true. I'm using it with a Samsung Galaxy S5 and it works just fine. Maybe blame your USB cable?
Yes. It is cables. I got 12, and 7 are originals from samsung. :) ... Anyway... i found the best solution after i buyed this useless app. Now i'm using 7'' monito. The best solution.

Yet, it isn't true that it doesn't work with any Samsung devices. You say you can demonstrate: there's no need for that, I believe you.
Still, it works flawlessly with my Galaxy S5. Maybe I'm lucky, or maybe you're unlucky.
Note that it only works with Canon cameras (maybe not all of them? I don't know). Maybe it also depends on your Android version. Worth checking possible compatibility problems.
ok. First thing: Canon EOS 60D, Canon EOS 600D, Canon EOS 550D, Canon EOS 1100D, and Samsung Galaxy GT N-5110, Samsung Galaxy tab A280, Samsung Galaxy TAB 4, Phones: Samsung A3, Samsung S4, Gionee S5.5, XIAOMI REDMI3, None of ones from above dont work. Tablet 10" INN working for 5 seconds, Tablet Vonino 7" working just to see what's on the camera screen with latency.
In conclusion, everybody who reading this: Please buy a Galaxy S5
