Probably I'll go for Zip DJ: the first month it's unlimited for 30€ so I could rebuild my actual Tidal library and then I'll probably switch to the 50 download per month plan because I don't think I will need so many downloads then.
Reworks of 70s and 80s is pretty hard to find as a lot of pools don’t have specific back catalogues due to label restrictions. Zip DJ does have some good nu-disco but I would look at buying individual tracks via a specialist site such as beatport
This is a great video and now I'm a new sub. Thank you for this! Question: in your opinion (based on the record pools you went over here), what would be the best record pool for a mobile Wedding DJ? Would it be BPM Supreme? Thanks again!
Thanks for watching. Yea BPM supreme is pretty good as an all rounder however this video here might also be useful as I know you will need a variety of music! ua-cam.com/video/lITnSGmAlak/v-deo.htmlsi=OEYzTGsgzozLfWUf
i like Beatsource and that it populates in Serato, but for $35/m and unable to download is wack af. Looking to make the move, BPM may be it. I had it years ago. But none of these have enough local Los Angeles hip hop I want
Thanks for watching. If you have found a record pool that has worked for you in the past, definitely worth checking it out again for sure! I agree with you in regards to Beatsource..I certainly prefer owning my own music
What happens when you unsubscribe from a record pool? I tried to read some Terms & Conditions pages but I wasn't able to figure out what I should in that case. When I download music from a record pool songs files become actually mine (like if I buy them 1 by 1 from Beatport for example) or I can keep them only if I am currently subscribed to that pool?
@@lucapodavini7118 when you download the file is yours to keep regardless of if you are subscribed or not. If you stream…the files will no longer be able to be used.

When or if you unsub to a pool, do you still get to keep and use your downloads? I’m finding it needlessly complicated just to get started/rebuild a music library… subscriptions, what to subscribe to…, access keys/licenses, compatibility, etc… ughhh.
Hi I’m just starting off as a dj and I’m wondering if I have a big list ready of songs I want to use now and songs I might use in the future could I just pay for one month of a record pool to download all the songs at once and then don’t renew the subscription the next month? Or is it a case of i I cancel my membership I can’t access my downloaded songs Thanksss
They are downloaded to your computer so the files are yours to keep! Streaming services- if you cancel however then the files disappear. I move record pools all the time and switch things up so download away and then cancel when you are ready

Hello Karl hope all is well. Like your content been watching you since a long time. I also prefer using ZIPDJ the most, they almost always have everything in there including lots of electronic tracks. But one thing that bothers me is that each time I download their tracks to my MacBook Pro 16 inch laptop (2019), they show up with buggy file names in the Downloads folder. So is it only me? Or do you get this issue too? Its kind of annoying and slows me down. I sent them an email already
That’s really interesting- I can’t say I have ever had this myself and I am still using them. I typically get a zip folder and from there can access the tracks with their full names. I don’t have the file name issue. Definitely one to raise with them I would say
@@djkarlthomas Oh so it seems its only me sadly. I use Safari and I'm still running Big Sur 11.7 MacOS, what happens is that each file name has "_" all over between words and letters. I have to manually fix each track name. I will see what they would say! In BPM supreme this issue doesn't happen
@@djkarlthomas Will definitely try via Chrome and let you know soon. I have a feeling its because I am still running Big Sur, though I always try to not software update my Apple devices because they get slow with updates xD

Don’t subscribe for a record pool for DnB…the mashup.co.uk has a playlist as does some others but for the real specialist stuff you are best off buying individual tracks
Zip DJ seems to be the best for electronic music across the board, however for a specialist genre I would always recommend topping up your collection with individual downloads from a site such as Beatport.
I know Beatport isn't a record pool, but I'm surprise no one is ripped Beatport for the release of a totally messed up website and really poor workflow. I had issues with Beatport before this website release, but I found some pretty efficient workflows to review followed artists and labels and now it's terrible.
It has certainly changed and not for the best. I always find it pretty slow but as I only use it once or twice a week to download tracks, I will put up with it haha
Thanks for DJ pools review! It's really helpful especially for beginers. Cheers!
No problem! Glad it was helpful!
Zip DJ has always worked for me! And that came from your recommendation as well 🙌🏼

Very helpful video for a beginner! It's really stressful and not quite simple to figure out by yourself where to get music from. Cheers!
I know right?! There are just so many places now. I’m glad this was helpful! Thank you for tuning in
I also have ZIPDJ as my main yearly pool and then i dip in and out of other pools just to supplement it.
Nice one! Thank you for watching

Hi, i am just wondering, which platform can u recommend. I am looking for music played in peak time like Melbourne bounce, future house music.
If it’s a very specialist genre….buy the tracks individually via a specialist site rather than relying on a record pool
I can't stop thinking of Taco Bell when I hear BPM Supreme so I am glad they finally changed the name.

Pretty specialist so I would recommend downloading individual tracks from places like beatport.

Where’s the best place for house and retro house from the 90s?
Beatport and buying tracks individually. Record pools aren’t the best for throwback stuff. For house just generally…zipdj

That’s more of a struggle as most pools focus on new music

Best record pool for Afrobeat, and hiphop?
Hip hop- either DJ city or Heavy hits. Afrobeats is more specialist so best to buy individual tracks
