To clarify, this is not a Zayn concert. This was a festival where Zayn was ONE of many other artists performing. Zayn canceling his appearance doesn’t mean people should have been refunded. When you buy a festival ticket, the assumption is that you’re there for more than just one artist........ Artists have been performing at Wembley for decades and they all managed to actually Get on stage to do it... so no, not "anyone", a working professional would let their nerves stop them from doing what they Agreed to do (he literally didn't even have to take this gig in the first place lol). If you have such bad anxiety as a working artist in an industry where only a very limited few of artists can choose not to perform and their professional careers won't implode you should probably idk... get professional help or be creative in ways that can accommodate around this problem instead of letting thousands, millions of people, concert promoters and all the people behind the scenes who put this large event together dowm. It's disrespectful to everyone's time and zayn has tainted his entire solo career with this lack of principle towards anyone else but his own hangs up. Like, he didn't just find out he had anxiety, anyone who watched 1D perform live would know he and Louis always looked the almost uncomfortable and odd standing up there with the least energy/intrest up there. Maybe if zayn's ego wasn't so big at the time he wouldn't have agrerd to take on something he knew would be impossible to do so early in his solo career, by himself, he wouldn't continually embarrass himself and his fans like this. Knowing your limitations and working around them is a very admirable, mature trait. This was Zayn and his team's fault for ever agreeing to such an event. I have been suffering from anxiety and panic attacks in crowded places since i was 8..and i have been misunderstood and mistreated for it all my life. I have been called selfish,jealous of other people's happiness and insensitive for avoiding social gatherings,parties. If you have not dealt with it you will never know how frightening it is for the person..to get up and go and stay in that situation. Would anyone like it if Zayn went on stage shaking,sobbing and unable to breathe? Cz that's how a person feels when they have an anxiety attack. To me it feels like i have been thrown into a lake of ice-cold water and i can't breathe. As for overcoming it,it is not easy..18years later i still am fighting with it everyday. He is trying. We just have to be patient and understanding. It just hurts how some people in the comments are judging him for this. Sorry for my rant. This whole situation must have been so sad for him,to practice and reherse for something then getting anxiety seeing the huge arena full of people,doesn't matter if he has done it hundred times before. I totally agree with you, and I would also feel extremely guilty for not going for certain things and so you can only imagine how he felt, it makes you feel powerless and without the proper support and understanding it’s just even more painful
I have dealt with anxiety disorders like panic attacks since I was around 4 and many years later and even lots of meds and therapy it is so hard. Sometimes it is simply out of control. I can’t image his struggle for all of his years in 1D :/

I have tried meditation and medication and it does work,but only for a short period of time. Maybe with time he will get better,but till then we just have to let Zayn be the way he is and not criticize his anxiety which will only make it worse.
I can understand,my anxiety is always so high that I can't focus on anything completely. I am a student and getting my ass kicked to clear IIT JEE,it's a tough exam and requires hard efforts. My condition (physics and mental) both are sort of next to worse,and I don't get support by anyone,staying home from 7-8 months alone,the family is there but still it isn't (I hope you won't understand this thing if you aren't Indian,there is a massive communication gap between parents and children, there is only 1 aspect of parents and children relationship in India and that's respect and slavery,just keep you mouth shut and follow their command,previously I used to spend most of the time at my coaching (about 7-8 or even 10-11 hrs,so this kept me happy)but being at home from months has made me emotionally very weak because it hurts when you have no one to share you issues with,but it hurts even more when the people around you aren't ready to listen to you issues and problems,I don't know how long I can continue my mental and emotional issues and not have a brain hamorage,I still have hope that I can stand on my own if I get time I will try hard after few months (as I will be in college far from my family),I will try to improve my mental,physical and emotional conditions and try to achieve heights in my life,I might have ruined my childhood and teenage,I still have youth and old age left

he explained in his book how he got a panic attack right before the show, because he was scared of the fact that ALL the attention would be on him, unlike in the band where he was with the boys and the attention was divided between them. he HAD to cancel the show, otherwise it would have been bad both for him and the fans. i know how anxiety can be a bitch sometimes, we all know.. but we love you anyway zayn! you rock!!
how many other shows he cancelled, bc he did cancel the graham norton performance quite last minute as well.. even tho he didnt enjoy the band i think it was the best thing to happen to him regarding his career, as he got to lean on to the other guys and the ones more comfortable could take more of a lead (he was always pretty quiet in the shows regarding the talking bits etc), considering his mum dragged him to the auditions, i think he got the needed confidence with the band and even tho it was shit for him, it was better than being alone. i mean he barely performs now.. its quite hard to make a career that way, but he had a background with the band that he didnt really need that

i think theres a big help when there are 5 people to carry out a show, he can chill and not be too present and just do his part, its very different to be up there with 5 people or to be there alone and youre supposed to do it all. tbh its great he suffered through the band as much as he did, as he said he didnt really enjoy it, but considering he was so shy and his mum dragged him to the auditions, i dont think he wouldve made it in the industry without the experience with the band. surely the hectic schedule etc. probably had its effects but he didnt have to be there alone and could get support from the other guys, who were much more comfortable on stage (like harry, a fucking comedian on their shows lol)
I was there, only to see Zayn, and instead of angry I completelly understand his decision and love him even more for stooding for what was right for him. Hope to see him back to stages in the future, it will be an amazing experience for sure.

i’m guessing all the people who are raving about how unprofessional and rude it was for him to cancel due to a panic/anxiety attack have never experienced either one of those? it’s absolutely fucking terrifying, and most people can barely move or breathe during an anxiety attack, let alone dance around, sing, and be charismatic for the audience. you guys need to get a grip and realize how difficult it is to struggle with a panic or anxiety disorder, especially when performing in front of thousands.

@@jerry5882 but the thing is that it wasn’t a concert. it was a festival that he was making an appearance at, so if he waited a couple hours then he probably would’ve encroached upon someone else’s slot or he may have missed it entirely. he was also probably very drained after the attack, so it was best for him to not perform.

He had some on X factor before going on stage so yeah his team definitely knows. I don’t listen to Zayn/One Direction but he seems like a decent guy. Being a musician myself I would be feeling the same as him. I once got nervous when I performed for 300 people hell god knows how he must have been feeling here.

it’s simple, zayn is a human being too that suffers from severe anxiety. It’s understandable. But this is what separates zayn malik from michael jackson or any other really talented live performer.
I know many celebs have performed here before in front of this many people and were fine and he’s been okay whilst performing with 1D but sometimes anxiety attacks happen for no reason, I get them over the smallest things all the time and that might’ve been one of those moments. If you go to a concert and that happens, I’m really sorry the artist isn’t there but at the end of the day would you prefer a concert with the artist a complete mess, crying, panicking and shaking or would you rather get a refund and let the artist calm down and potentially do a better concert for you? I know this was a while ago but fans need to support him. Maybe he shouldn’t have booked the arena then, like some people have been saying, but you can’t exactly plan an anxiety attack so he probably didn’t know that was going to happen.
he was one of the performers during the festival so not even all his fans there. plus i think he said that it was 'horrible'(or some other bad word) to be there alone with all the attention on him when he was used to being with one direction (i mean he was as invisible there as can be, and let the other boys do the 'entertaining') so no wonder it was hard for him. just surprised his management just threw him to the deep end. it was one of his first solo activities i guess so not sure if they could have known but based on his actions in the band i knew it would be weird for him, thought they would too

I remember finishing a show in Hong Kong and just feeling it in my gut. To this day, it makes me feel like shit to think about disappointing the fans like that. As someone who has anxiety, fuck man I understand. I couldn’t imagine getting in front of that many people on your own. With 1D he had people to relax him but in his own he was just kinda left to himself.

To clarify, this is not a Zayn concert. This was a festival where Zayn was ONE of many other artists performing. Zayn canceling his appearance doesn’t mean people should have been refunded. When you buy a festival ticket, the assumption is that you’re there for more than just one artist........

I have been suffering from anxiety and panic attacks in crowded places since i was 8..and i have been misunderstood and mistreated for it all my life. I have been called selfish,jealous of other people's happiness and insensitive for avoiding social gatherings,parties. If you have not dealt with it you will never know how frightening it is for the person..to get up and go and stay in that situation. Would anyone like it if Zayn went on stage shaking,sobbing and unable to breathe? Cz that's how a person feels when they have an anxiety attack. To me it feels like i have been thrown into a lake of ice-cold water and i can't breathe. As for overcoming it,it is not easy..18years later i still am fighting with it everyday. He is trying. We just have to be patient and understanding. It just hurts how some people in the comments are judging him for this. Sorry for my rant. This whole situation must have been so sad for him,to practice and reherse for something then getting anxiety seeing the huge arena full of people,doesn't matter if he has done it hundred times before. I have dealt with anxiety disorders like panic attacks since I was around 4 and many years later and even lots of meds and therapy it is so hard. Sometimes it is simply out of control. I can’t image his struggle for all of his years in 1D :/

I have tried meditation and medication and it does work,but only for a short period of time. My condition (physics and mental) both are sort of next to worse,and I don't get support by anyone,staying home from 7-8 months alone,the family is there but still it isn't (I hope you won't understand this thing if you aren't Indian,there is a massive communication gap between parents and children, there is only 1 aspect of parents and children relationship in India and that's respect and slavery,just keep you mouth shut and follow their command,previously I used to spend most of the time at my coaching (about 7-8 or even 10-11 hrs,so this kept me happy)but being at home from months has made me emotionally very weak because it hurts when you have no one to share you issues with,but it hurts even more when the people around you aren't ready to listen to you issues and problems,I don't know how long I can continue my mental and emotional issues and not have a brain hamorage,I still have hope that I can stand on my own if I get time I will try hard after few months (as I will be in college far from my family),I will try to improve my mental,physical and emotional conditions and try to achieve heights in my life,I might have ruined my childhood and teenage,I still have youth and old age left

how many other shows he cancelled, bc he did cancel the graham norton performance quite last minute as well.. even tho he didnt enjoy the band i think it was the best thing to happen to him regarding his career, as he got to lean on to the other guys and the ones more comfortable could take more of a lead (he was always pretty quiet in the shows regarding the talking bits etc), considering his mum dragged him to the auditions, i think he got the needed confidence with the band and even tho it was shit for him, it was better than being alone. i mean he barely performs now.. its quite hard to make a career that way, but he had a background with the band that he didnt really need that

i think theres a big help when there are 5 people to carry out a show, he can chill and not be too present and just do his part, its very different to be up there with 5 people or to be there alone and youre supposed to do it all. tbh its great he suffered through the band as much as he did, as he said he didnt really enjoy it, but considering he was so shy and his mum dragged him to the auditions, i dont think he wouldve made it in the industry without the experience with the band. surely the hectic schedule etc. probably had its effects but he didnt have to be there alone and could get support from the other guys, who were much more comfortable on stage (like harry, a fucking comedian on their shows lol)

i’m guessing all the people who are raving about how unprofessional and rude it was for him to cancel due to a panic/anxiety attack have never experienced either one of those? it’s absolutely fucking terrifying, and most people can barely move or breathe during an anxiety attack, let alone dance around, sing, and be charismatic for the audience. you guys need to get a grip and realize how difficult it is to struggle with a panic or anxiety disorder, especially when performing in front of thousands.

@@jerry5882 but the thing is that it wasn’t a concert. it was a festival that he was making an appearance at, so if he waited a couple hours then he probably would’ve encroached upon someone else’s slot or he may have missed it entirely. he was also probably very drained after the attack, so it was best for him to not perform.

@@survivorbest4589 well obviously it wasnt a known thing as it was one of his first solo performances. and now he makes music but hasnt toured any of his music properly to my knowledge. its a reason however, a very valid one and not being able to perform doesnt mean hes not professional or doestn care. he recognised the problem and hasnt continued on the same road but you cant call it a bad excuse when if youre just figuring out the problem.

He had some on X factor before going on stage so yeah his team definitely knows. I agree that anxiety attacks are unpredictable but there are environment that can trigger them and for him going on stage is obviously one. His fans if they’re really fans would understand that. I’d rather my idol to be healthy and do smaller shows than big ones where I know he won’t perform at his best because of anxiety

I know many celebs have performed here before in front of this many people and were fine and he’s been okay whilst performing with 1D but sometimes anxiety attacks happen for no reason, I get them over the smallest things all the time and that might’ve been one of those moments. If you go to a concert and that happens, I’m really sorry the artist isn’t there but at the end of the day would you prefer a concert with the artist a complete mess, crying, panicking and shaking or would you rather get a refund and let the artist calm down and potentially do a better concert for you?
I know this was a while ago but fans need to support him. Maybe he shouldn’t have booked the arena then, like some people have been saying, but you can’t exactly plan an anxiety attack so he probably didn’t know that was going to happen.
he was one of the performers during the festival so not even all his fans there. plus i think he said that it was 'horrible'(or some other bad word) to be there alone with all the attention on him when he was used to being with one direction (i mean he was as invisible there as can be, and let the other boys do the 'entertaining') so no wonder it was hard for him. just surprised his management just threw him to the deep end. it was one of his first solo activities i guess so not sure if they could have known but based on his actions in the band i knew it would be weird for him, thought they would too
