It’s crazy how when we were younger, we were so mad at Zayn for leaving and we were so selfish cause all we wanted was the 5 members instead of 4. But I feel like the more we get older, the more we’re starting to realize the toxicity, and why he left the group, and I honestly don’t blame him at all. I believe that comment that Liam made was one of the many reasons why Zayn left in the first place. He could never get his opinions in or his point across. So he made the best decision…to leave. Guys I know it’s kinda obvious, but I don’t see them ever getting back together as a group. It’s the little comments like Liam made that are driving them further apart and making the chances of them ever getting back together veryyyyyy low.

He not only bailed on the band suddenly in the middle of world tour and left them trying to figure out how to move on from there, after he left he told anyone that would listen that he never wanted to be in the band to begin with. He went even further than that by insulting their music as boring and personally insulted every single person in the band on a personal level.

Of course he made some mistakes, which parent doesn't? Liam had no business talking about Zayn like that. Liam himself is an alcoholic dad who cheated on a literal teenager but oh, he's dad of the year. At least Zayn loves his daughter so much that he even got into legal trouble just for trying to protect Khai's privacy.
He's attempting to sound understanding and 'woke' about his white privilege in that he had parents who supported him while lots of immigrant families (e.g. the culture I come from) want you to finish post-grad studies to become a doctor, engineer, etc. and wouldn't most likely take a singing career seriously. But at the end of the day however Liam worded it sounded incredibly insensitive and borderline racist. He tried to make it sound like he was on his side but it was low key insulting.

I don't like the way Liam talked about Zayn's upbringing.. it sounded incredibly insensitive and borderline racist. I also don't understand the nickname he referred him as- "Wayne" malik? Is that another racial jab? As a Zayn girl from the start of 1D, I grew to become tired of all the racial bullshit that Zayn has had to go through for no reason. 5 members of a band and none of the other 4 boys went through an ounce of what Zayn did when it came to navigating cultural, religious or ethnic micro-aggressions in this predominately white society. It truly reflects what society we still live in.
I've only known about 1D since 2020 and I was truly shocked at how racist 1D fandom was! I'm sure some had colonised minds as not all the fans were/are white.

It's so strange that the media has pushed him to be representative of the whole lgbtq, (he is thus far unlabelled and some poc lgbtq have accused him of queer baiting and monetising the movement/struggle). I haven't seen such a grand scale social engineering propagated by the mainstream media, tabloid media and entertainment industry EVER do this to prop up and support PoC, black, indigenous lgbtq artists. Liam’s song was a ONE HIT WONDER type of thing. maybe at first it blew up pretty quickly but it was forgotten about in a month and is now hated because it’s a really bad song. and i’ve never heard his name again after that until this situation… where he’s getting a shit ton of hate. while the other members have had multiple pretty popular hits and albums and have started to build very long term, steady careers. hopefully this situation humbles him a bit but he seems like the type to think everyone else is the problem and not him.

I think people mostly dislike Liam right now because he's probably the only member who's giving us a real idea of what was going on in the band. when i first started listening to one direction, zayn and harry instantly became my favourite. most of my friends love niall, same with louise bc of his unique voice and he was and still is sweet. i gurantee you liam was the least popular out of all of them and just kinda sound and looked basic so i dont get why hes talking lmao. when i watched their auditions from the x factor for the first time i just thought that liam was a bit uninteresting and i felt like he was just someone who would judge you and is full of himself which he is. anyways thats my opinion and stan louise, harry, niall and zayn❤️

guys i think we all need to take a step back and calm down about this. what happened in the band was, is and never will be any of our business, because just like us celebrities like to have privacy too. even though one direction was and always will be an amazing band it doesn't mean that they didn't have their ups and downs. in this video, liam was clearly stating that he felt a certain type of way about another band member, zayn. most importantly, however he states that he will always be by zayn's side, which is the most important thing. even though liam was in the wrong for bringing up zayns personal life, we all make mistakes and say some things without thinking. what we as fans and supporters need to do right now is let them deal with this and not put any pressure on any of the boys for this. they all have the purest hearts and souls but mistakes happen and we need to accept that and move on. thanks.

Im 16 years old turning 17 this year (2022) and I starting looking up to them in 2011 and was their Biggest Fan of all Lol. I remember those days where I went up to my mom and yelled Mommmm It’s One Direction on Tvvvv, Im in love with them Especially Louis which I had to point at the Tv for cause she didn’t know which one was him Lollll but I just remember Falling In Love with them big timeeee, Having a Big Smile and couldn’t move on even until this day! My heart broke when Zayn left the group and It didn’t really feel like ID without him! One direction as I remember was a Band of 5 not 4. Anyways I just wish them all the best of luck in what they do next with their lives. I pray everyday that they will one day come together and forget about the issues and problems in the past and leave it behind! I’m assuming it might’ve been because almost every member has moved on and has learned to let go. The other members (as far as I know), when asked abt their group members, always said smthn positive or nothing at all, and here is Liam just throwing everything out there. unfortunately Liam had a breakdown a couple of years before this interview he was quoted as saying he was very unhappy and just stayed on the couch all day. That interview was two years ago.
