Worked on my Passat B7. You saved the bonnet constantly taking a beating from being slammed multiple times until it closed. Thank you!
Sure no problem and thanks for the comment!
So grateful you took the time to demonstrate this....could not go on my trip without it. Fixed it in 2 mins of just pushing the screwdriver where you indicate. Legend.
You're welcome! Thanks for the comment, much appreciated! Have a safe trip!
Still works in 2024! Took me a few tries to figure out the latch was loosened and had to be clicked back in for the wire to work. Couldn’t find a solution anywhere else. Thank you!
Thank you for the update, really appreciated!
Same here in 2024. I've now fixed it better than any mechanic ever has with a screwdriver and some WD40. Also, managed to immediately then snap the handle off the release, thought that's fucked that, no way to open bonnet now... and a likely expensive snapped cable repair) but, a couple of youtube videos later I've gotten to the broken part (a bit of plastic) and got a new one on the way. Meanwhile can release bonnet with pliers on the actual cable end (ball) and bonnet closes again successfully now, of course. Thank you @Motorcarnut
Glad to hear that it helped. Thank you too!
So glad I found this video! Saved me from getting stuck hours from home with a hood that would not stay latched.
That’s great! Thank you for the feedback! Appreciated
Thank you! This totally works and it was so easy! I sprayed WD40 right into the latch and nut, then pressed the hood down over and over, moving the latch back and forth. It took about 2 mins and fixed!
Awesome! Thank you for the feedback!
Just saved me a shed load of money taking discovery to dealership in uk,did as you instructed worked a treat .a million thanks 😊.
Glad it helped! Thanks for the feedback!
By far not an annoying video. Finding your video was the annoying part. Every other one has the video title named hood latch not staying locked or similar to this one and I said to myself ‘please don’t show me how to open my hood’
As soon as you said the hood won’t close and latch is was like finally. A UA-cam video where the title and content are the same.
I hate click bait. It’s a wast of everyone’s time. So thank you for simply stating what the video was. Then actually showing that video. Simply showing exactly what I wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing maybe one other thing I could also do while in here.
Hate those titles where the moron is making surprised faces and big letters the read “Stop doing this if you want your hood fixed’….. I will ignore all the used car sales tactics and choose the information like this every time. 👍
Thank you! Really appreciate the compliment!
Thank you very much, very helpful. Got me going in about 5 minutes
Awesome! Thanks for the comment
