Seeing a lot of people asking why we didn’t comment on the lyrics or the back story.
This is a first reaction, and know nothing of her background. It takes a few listens to pick up on some of that stuff. Particularly when it’s not our usual genre 🤘🏼
i enjoy billies music and know her story, but i didnt pick up the lyrics first listen either, it wasnt until i saw someone else mention it that i put the lyrics together! great reaction video, the song itself is so beautiful and powerful, her vocal range is just insane. im excited to see what else she comes out with for sure! i do enjoy more of her darker music, but im in for the ride!
If you keep pausing mid phrase over and over and talk over the lyrics, then yeah, you’re gonna need multiple listens..
As to preferences in styles. I enjoy everything Billie does, and love almost everything she does. But what I REALLY adore are pieces like this, with her lead, and Finneas on backing vocals and either guitar of piano. Exquisite. If the new LP is more of this (or if it isn't honestly) I'm in. Nice reaction guys.

This song is about her being gr00med, she was 16 and he was 22. Thats why there was a black screen for 22 second in the end. If anyone had gone thru stuffs like this im so sorry , u r so strong. U r not alone

How about the black screens in all three of her previous music videos made during quarantine? Video producers put it there to say fu to youtube advertising boxes popping up overlaid on her face. Anything less than 10 seconds, the youtube algorithm figures it out. Longer than that seems to work in all markets worldwide.

The song is about being taken advantage of, unfortunately a lot of people can relate to that and Billie herself has been taken advantage of when she was 16. She was in a very mentally abusive relationship with a guy called Q and he was 22 at the time

I would love to see another react on this one with lyrics and context. The backstory of this song which has been mentioned in other comments is so important. The music is amazing but the story is crucial and powerful.
As mentioned, this is only an initial reaction. We don’t really check out lyrics or backstory to songs before hearing them as we just don’t have time. Obviously there are instances where we are aware of what a certain song is about if it’s from one of our favourite artists, but generally these are a “first listen/face value” type thing and we dissect them a little deeper upon further listens ourselves.
If the backstory was important, she'd have done a magazine article or a complete photoshoot about it. No, the music is the only thing that matters in this expression of feelings here.

@@moonshine7316 Yes you're not alone. Everyone wants to know, as if every song is like a autobiographical country song. Anyway, they did cover some these issues in her documentary film, "The World's a Little Blurry."

Loved the song and also appreciated that you reacted with headphones. So many nuances get lost or missed without them. She sounds like an angel and I loved the acoustic with other elements just touched in there lightly. Nice work dudes! Snake fact! That was an anaconda which can obviously be dangerous. BUT! They are also highly domesticated and non life threatening with the keeper close by. Snakes don’t slither around you slowly to constrict. That snake was very placid and was just trying to not fall off :) as a snake owner of 9 years I can say they get a huge reputation for being aggressive when they are not at all. Yes they are still exotic animals and take utmost respect and mutual trust to handle bigger ones, but it is of no danger to her 🥰
The fact that she has been playing it at every concert since the election results is just so powerful and such a strong statement

@@Oatmilllk yes it was definitely a real snake but the bits with it around her neck were adjusted, guarantee they wouldn’t let it around her neck in that way. Other shots were totally real

The black at the end of her videos is so that those annoying ass “suggested video” bullshit boxes don’t pop up and ruin the ends of her videos..she’s done it on multiple videos
but the person editing/publishing the video puts them there, like if billie doesn’t want them there, can’t she just ask for them to be left out? (i also saw someone say that the black part lasts for 22 seconds, being the age of her abuser which might make more sense)
@@Shant3ll998 they’re her videos. Directed by her. She most likely asks them to put some dead space at the ends of her videos so those annoying boxes don’t ruin it. It’s really not that hard to understand/comprehend. It’s been going on for a while now. Way before this video.
