You are truly the man... completely forgot about this. Upgraded to a new vmware and forgot that I enabled and setup hyper-v in the interim and low and behold after looking at my vmware virtual network editor, there was my hyper-v network adaptor checked and clearly taking precedence over my physical network adaptor. Many thanks 🙂
so u are basiclly just selecting something from the "automatic" list, but why not just use the drop-down menu instead and select your only adapter from there ?
In my case I had to uncheck Virtual Box Host only network because I had Virtual Box also installed. I am not sure how it exactly works but seems like it randomly chooses one? Because the right adapter was first one in the list.
On vmware not pro there is no "network virtual adapter" ... instead you must configure that in settings>network adapter>configure adapters and unclick unnecessary options and then you have Internet!
Im using VMware workstation 17 and had that same problem. I'm using W7 virtual machine. Internet didn't work till I installed Firefox browser. I have no idea why.
