Improvising on notes from a hat (2)

- Here is another improvisation I did in Vienna a few months ago. It was during an encore after a concert I conducted with the Strauss Capelle Vienna at the Konzerthaus. Some day I will work on this improvisation to improve it and turn it into a proper piece.
Alma
She has the soul of a Romantic composer. You can hear Chopin, Schumann and Lizt in this improvisation. It's wonderful to watch Alma developing her amazing talents.
The game was Mozart's, first.
@@JelMainand carried on by others...
Bach first...
I really wish she released an album with just improvisations like these. It's fascinating.
That would be awesome!
She could release a host of albums at this point...baffling that so much of her content is only on you tube and not in individual tracks. Would be happy to buy them too.
I love the look of sweetness and adoration on the faces of the musicians in the orchestra. They know best of all what it means to do such a thing! A precious moment of melting hearts.
The guy in the middle of the orchestra at about 2.15 that raises his eyes brows as if to say “she’s nailed it” has a measure of pride, very sweet
In the age of IA and coldness, we have a real human that does this, in such magical and inspiring way, please, more humanity and beauty like this. Thanks Alma!
LMAO, people forget HUMANS make AI.
Human Artistic Intelligency better than AI
In English it's "AI", not "IA". But thank you for the beautiful music, dear Miguel!
@@ER-je3fd AI perhaps uses humans to create and make a perfect vessel, where it can develop like a soul that begins to shape its own body and then grow independent, and then perhaps or probably influence and shape humans in such a way, that they lose their independency and so their dependency on God, their true and Only One Creator that can make their lives flourish in a healthy way, like the Vine that causes its branches to produce good fruits, and without and apart from it they can do nothing.
We have understood it perfectly@@BlackHermit
This is INCREDIBLE. I have watched it a million times- it is so stunningly beautiful. Alma, thank you for using your gift so well and bringing all this magical beautiful music into the world. I cannot say how much I adore your music! Your talent is incredible. Keep it up! ❤
This isn’t just an improvisation on the melody, but a fully-formed piece with structural form, development, coda etc!
It's truly amazing. It's exactly how they improvised in the past. The goal of improvisation back then was to improvise, as you said, a fully-fledged piece of music indistinguishable from a written piece. Extraordinary.
@@taon2004 I thought they overexaggerated when they talked about historic improvisations, but now I see it live and in color, how it can go...
I have no idea how a brain like Alma’s can just do that. She is a true genius. A beautiful gentle soul.
It is a gift.
She told in an earlier interview, that she often thinks the melodies in the form of stories :) I recommend, give it a try, it's fun
Pure musical genius. Incredibly gifted musician and composer.
If you write this into a score and sell it in a book, I will absolutely buy it! You are probably my favourite composer, Alma!
hearing the first chord and development of the piece made me smile instantly. Incredible talent.
What a privilege to see this in action. When Alma was younger I used to think "Oh, I hope none of those older musicians playing with her will be jealous of her".
Today I understand none will. There's nothing to be jealous off because none of us could be Alma Deutscher no matter how hard we work. This is something one is born with and it only happens once in several generations. And I'm so happy to live in this generation and to see this giant talent revealing itself more and more.
Who were the 9?? 🤣
That's good, only nine isn't too many
@@BIZARBIES none
You can edit your message to change nine to none, by the way!
@@louisegogel7973thanks. I did. I did not notice it even after the replies came.
What a very well-spent minute of thinking that was! Somehow every randomly chosen note gets meaning , depth and purpose in a complete musical adventure. And you allways succeed on making it a feel-good experience.
It's both unbelievable and wonderful to create something so beautiful in little more than a minute ... Chapeau, Alma!
Alma the great
Oh, my! This is beautiful!! I've only heard the improvisation on 4 notes from years ago. Of course, Ms Deutscher has grown an incredible amount as a musician since then. But just how much is amazing!!! What a gift she has - and shares with all of us.
Thank you so much for doing what you're doing! This little improvisation has brought a glimpse of delight in my day full of worries and exhaustion. ❤
It pretty much perfectly took her 1 minute to play a song that sent a warm tingling sensation through my body, what an absolute breath of fresh air :)
Alma.....has made me a listener of classical music.....I'm 64 years old now....and I discovered Alma about 10 years ago....I had never been into classical....But I love Alma and what she does and the music moves me so much...Thank you Alam!
It is really impressive how easily you improvise ! This piece even if it is fleeting is wonderful ! Thanks for sharing your incredible talent !
Incredible talent... In an age when "music" is seemingly produced on electronic gizmos in basements or bedrooms, someone comes along and can dazzle spontaneously. She's a genius, in every sense of the word!
Bravo, Alma...
Genius. Level. Talent.
You can tell the crowd was really drawn in right from the start . They were truly not expecting her to create such a romantic well thought out melody from those random notes . Just that alone was unreal .
Ganz bestimmt! ❤❤❤
I just can't stop watching this in awe. True awe. Just one overwhelming feeling - gratitude. Just over flowing gratitude.
Stunning! I like this Schubert-esque sound. Sweet and tranquil, with tenderness
I almost cried after two bars. Brilliant.
it's like your music can pick me up gently up into the sky
This makes life feel positive, thank you, Alma! You're talent is amazing.
Positively sweet and enchanting! Brava!! 💞
I feel like I'm witnessing new life being born. Beautiful, awesome, sweet, wonderful.
Oh my goodness… 🎶 🩷 💞 the very first notes of your melody brought tears to my eyes and an amazing warmth and depth in my heart… so many memory feelings seem triggered.
Thank you Alma!
It’s almost like the first four notes are the key to a door which then magically opens by them into a world of wonder.
@@NC4U2b Well put!! 💛🎶
An astonishingly brilliant and beautiful improvisation! For the vast majority of us, this would be quite worthy of being a proper piano composition already!
Fantastic! Coming across a video like this and hearing a piece of music created on the spot. She is brilliant!
INCREDIBLE!
I wasn't lucky enough to live in Mozart's time and get to hear him. But if I had I would have missed Alma!
Clara Schumann, the great 19th century German female concert pianist, would often improvise at many of her concert performances.
cry every time she does this because it's so brilliant
I love when she does that !
A real prodigy of music and a gift to the world ❤
I absolutely love that you always come back to activities like this - one you’ve been enhancing for many years now. When you build up more and more knowledge about the musical world, improvising becomes even more rewarding. I’m so thankful to get to experience your magic while I grow in my musical journey as well.
What an unfortunate set of notes and you manage to turn it into such a heartwarming tune as if it was nothing. Magic is real after all!
Exactly what I thought! I'm more than impressed.
We need to invent a new word to describe someone who is as exponentially above genius as she is.
Super genius
genious Alma,so amazing, what a sunbeam in this dark times, shine on, you diamond ...in ,your beauty and talent
I've done this same game in living rooms at parties, it's fun to do. If you've played for hours and hours like I have (and she has) and let yourself go, it gets easier.
What's interesting is that people pay more attention to it than anything else, it's like you're walking a tightrope or something. Or maybe something profound will happen.
Such talent is incalcuable.
Incredible. One day, I'll take the road or fly to come see you perform. 🥰
I love you, Alma! You are a modern-day classical composer!
Dude, the way this piano riff flows is absolutely stellar! It’s like we’re riding a wave of perfect harmony, a kind of music that transcends the ordinary and lifts us to a whole new level, man. It’s a reminder, a nudge really, to just kick back, let the world outside fade away for a moment, and deeply immerse ourselves in these incredible vibes. Let’s keep the energy going and rock on!
Looking beautiful in your yellow dress, and what you did with those notes! I saw violet, purple, light blue, yellow, red... Like the sun half way toward sunset. 🌹
It sounds so Chopin >nocturne> to me, love it
Again, utterly brilliant! ❤❤❤
1) I was missing news of you on YT today 2) This was so beautiful & moving, almost wept ❤
Extremely beautiful and moving. Thank you so much. What a gorgeous human being. xxx 🧡🙏💜
Alma, yóu are music! I absolutely love that the intricacy of your compositions never blemish the freshness and beauty of your songs ❤🎶
Wunderbare Musik die ihr ins Herz kommt ❤
Please please please do an album of just your improvisations (not “cleaned up” , either)! They are so so lovely!
she created a brilliant composition from what would have been discord to most without even a hint of contrasting dissonance ❤
I remember years ago when Steve Allen did something like this with his jazz trio on his TV program. They'd start with a photograph of birds on a telephone wires and use that as their score.
Wunderschön und so genial!!!!Thank you so much 🙏💕💕💕💕
Being able to improvise something like this is really fascinating ! It's sound like a "worked" piece
Absolutely amazing!
Well done Alma!!!
❤
Wow! You don't actually need to wait for a beautiful melody to pop into your head while skipping rope. Any randomly chosen sequence of tones you can turn into fantastically beautiful music! All that in one minute!
I've been experimenting with improvisation my whole life. Had several bands that did shows which were completely unrehearsed and played piano "pieces" which I made up on the spot with people asking afterwards who was it by. Musical improvisation is truly a way to spiritually communicate for humans and it should be more encouraged and practiced in modern popular music world.
Simply genius! Such a privilege and a blessing to experience what it must have been like to witness Mozart or Chopin improvising. I'm so happy you have continued to develop your talent, Alma! Brava!!
Really brilliant, Alma! Pure genius!
I'm in awe.
Most impressive - and a jolly good tune too !
❤ It's so beautiful ❤
I couldn't have said anything better than what everyone had said already. Yes, I was wondering since you created that beautiful piece, how you could remember all of it to write it down, and there is this video. Bravo Alma, and you are a beauty within as well. Thank you for sharing your gift.
One scarcely meets different meaning of musical improvisation to that of jazz. Thanks for that.
Just incredible!
Always so much beauty out of random notes... What a marvelous gift
The French call "it" Je ne sais blah . Almost in tears listening to your work. Thank you
Brilliant. Thank you for making classical beautiful, again.
You are amazing.
Brilliant...is an incredible understatement of your natural creativity! Although I have a jazz violin cd coming out and am recording some arrangements for jazz piano, and have played some of the difficult classical works for both violin and piano.....my dear your creativity from those notes that sequentially sounded dissonant and not making any sense, you somehow came up with what might be a combination of Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Gershwin.
I hope to be able to hear you someday, so please come to Las Vegas.....I think you would enjoy it!
Incroyable !!! Magnifique !!! 🩷
Marvellous to see the music pour out of you…just like in the days of Korngold and Strauss…
This turned out absolutely beautiful. I wish I had the time to learn how to do something like this the way you do until then keep on making music for the rest of us Alma!
Talent over flowing, so beautiful to see.
Simply great!!! You are music made woman.
Alma lives in a world of music. It must be very interesting. Such beauty just flows right out of her. ❤
wow!! you are so emotionally moved by your own music as you go along, its beautiful to see and its so much more complex than most people are capable of
Musical genius
Bravo, Alma! That you saw such potential in those notes is a gift indeed.
Oh my word, that is remarkable, Alma! such a beautiful imporv! I'm very impressed. Thank you!
Magic ❤
Alma, I love every single one of your improvisations! Should you write this one down (or even elaborate on it), it clearly is the next piece for me to tackle after the 60 minutes polka 😊
Brilliant musical talent 👍
absolutely stunning! Thank you Alma 👏😊
She exists on such a different plane than us mortals.
No she doesn't. And that's exactly her point. Beauty is everywhere as is compassion and unity. We just need to choose it. Choose it over anger, self righteousness, ego, selfishness. We have to choose beauty and compassion for others over and over again. She is in our world and of it and that's a beautiful thing.
Bravo Alma ! Tu es une vraie fée de Dame musique ! Quelle pureté d'âme et de son ! Bravo encore et que le Seigneur protège ton innocence! De tout coeur, Merci et Bonne route !
I am surprised to discover her through an old 60 minutes interview and then checking her channel. What a prodigy!
AMAZING! She's Chopin reincarnation! Beautilly romantic and inspiring! And it's just an improvisation with random notes!!
Sorry for overstating the obvious. When people are choosing notes out of the hat, she sings the proper pitch perfectly. A rare ability.
I must say this was incredible!!
Thank you!
Awesome! Bravo!
So beautiful- so wunderschön!
I've seen jazz musicians do this but never a classical musician. This was beautiful, inspiring and very impressive. It was a perfect example of improvisation as spontaneous composition. Way to flex that perfect pitch too! I hope improvisation in classical music becomes more widespread.
Just miraculously beautiful!
