I don’t even know how Derek felt, Imagine working so hard hard for your dream House, but selling it in only months, because of a watcher. I feel bad for Derek and his family experiencing this and giving up on his dreams. I hoping after horrendous days and suffering, they can have a great and better life from now on.

You can very easily even from house or near mail box, from a. bus etc put a small or a few small high tech cameras ..this makes no sense 🤣🤣 I would have a semi automatic or 4 and also security watching mailbox ..it makes truly no sense at all why they would not do so as that would bust the creep ..their are ways of catching the guy out easily. Also if I was them I would put house on market and get the fuck out of their and stay anyway bit their white its on market and also warn real estate agents and etc ..at least put up cameras and that 100% can be done even if he is watching ..

I watched the series called “The Watcher” on Netflix with my cousin a few weeks ago, and I didn’t quite know what they were talking about, since I joined in a few episodes later, but then I started getting more into it, and understanding the situation, etc. I was already creeped out watching the series, but I could never imagine it being real. Thank you for explaining, I think stuff like that should really be talked about more. I hope the children are okay.

phycological terror, threats are enough to make them leave. also, they didn't have cameras to find the notes, police didn't interview him and use fingerprints on the note and compare it to his (glass of water)? UV powder they said there was no proof but there was so much they could have done

They should’ve put a hidden camera on the mailbox or inside it.
That is a very good idea but they were scared af and probably didn't know what to do like this one time I had this 2 year old cousin and her parents and mine were talking as she got into the front seat then pressed something to make the car go backwards then obviously my parents and hers were fast to do something but I just completely froze because that's how scared I was. I knew that my little siblings were there too but I just didn't know what to do so I'm guessing that's how they felt.

From 2014 to 2024, Michael and the house are prolly gone. But back then how he stalked them like that is so traumatizing. How the kids had to go thru that. Especially the kids. They are to young to go thru that. I’m happy that they are safe now and Michael is prolly in jail.

This stalker/watcher was very crazy staying there outside theyre house.
I'm not very knowledgeable about things like that, but from what I know... when you send a letter you have to put the address from which it is sent and the destination, so the person sending the letters could only physically put them in the mailbox. In this case, couldn't they have found out the person's identity by installing cameras? Yes, there may be more than one person involved, but they were finding at least one. Was such an attempt mentioned and I was not paying attention?
And they could swab their dna of the letter and identify exactly who it was

Or just directly move out. Honestly I would've been creeped out since the first letter. Plus if I knew the kids were in danger I would've moved out and reported that to the police so they could put cameras or something or do a DNA test with the letters, still, poor Derek for having to go trough that. Traumatic experience for sure

Michael was the watcher. The guy was schizophrenic, old, isolated, and lived across the street from them. He also had a record of stalking people and looking through their windows. He passed away in 2020.

A stalked is so scary. My ex followed my everywhere, he asked every person i know my new number. He drove around my neighbourhood all the time and i had to run away from him because he abused me during our relationship and when we broke up it got worse. I had to get a restraining order.

Why don't they just trace back who it first belonged to? 😭😭 It's an old house, so there obviously would be records dating far back, and the watcher also said that his family had the house in all the generations, they could do that DNA thingy.

i feel so bad for derek, i don't even know how much he is suffering right now, imagine i was him, i would be very cautious and pray to god to stop this guy to stop watching me
I just don’t understand how he wasn’t caught. I feel like it would’ve been quite easy.
1. Install a camera. At both the house they were going to move into and the house they were living in. Going through the videos and seeing who’s in both often can help catch the stalker. (I’ll be honest, I didn’t get the exact year this was happening, but if it’s after 2010, I feel like while there won’t be high tech cameras, there would still be basic ones)
2. Install a security system at the house they’re living in, and especially at the new house. Back in 2010 my family moved into a house that had a security system and one time my brother opened the back door. Alarm went off immediately and my mom accidentally pressed the help button, then immediately pressed the correct one but a few minutes later the police entered through our backyard. My point is a security system like that would’ve made it easier for the watcher to get caught. Especially since they seem so attached to the new house and would probably visit it.
4. They seem so attached to the new house and I think even mentioned that it was their fathers house and their father was watching it before them. Unless the persons schizophrenic or something, they have a strong connection to the house. Look through previous owners, and the history of the house. I honestly strongly believe it’s one of the previous house owners. One of the letters even said that Derek and maria are trying to wipe the history of the house and talked about the hallways and such, as if they’ve lived there.
5. If we’re going with the theory that one of the neighbors is the watcher, like a lot of people said in the comments, try getting everyone’s handwriting down.
6. Maybe they were wearing gloves, or maybe the letters already been touched by too many people but it’s still worth a try, they should’ve tried fingerprinting.
And this is ways that me, who isn’t some expert detective or something came up with me. I feel like unless the watcher was a schizophrenic, with just a little research they could’ve caught the watcher. Even without the watcher, if they used a camera or something, they could’ve caught on possibly. I feel like the police failed this family so bad.

I know how to solve the problem (maybe).
So basically you want to get a pen and a paper, and go to the neighborhood and politely ask them to write their name or other thing you want them to write, (ONLY WORDS) and get the paper messages and put them close to close and if someone was the similar writing to the creepy words, then they are the suspect, and if all your neighborhood's writings do not look the same as the creepy paper messages, then you either give up or still search who is the culprit for the "creepy watcher."

this is a truley frighting story, get's chills up my spine! I skipped a beat when i was researching more and I saw Boulevard 657 blurred on google maps.
The people who say that maybe the family should have set up a camera to see the guy who delivers letters, to be honest the letter could have been delivered by a postman or a third party too right? WHat the family could have done was check about the handwriting perhaps?
Actually the first letter received with no post stamp or address, the envelop is blank with the letter inside. not sure the rest of the letters. so could be third party where u can catch that guy and go full Taken movie mode. :P
They should do what you recommended and investigate further to the “people” who were caught putting mails into the mailbox

Why anyone doesn't research about the history of the house. It looks like the watcher family was connected to it . the watcher mentioned his father . maybe the "young blood" was mentioning the childhood of the watcher , which is deeply connected to the house . maybe he used to live there and somehow lost the home , thats all lead up to it
