Those baby beaver noises are *beyond* precious- sometimes I forget that even though they’re wild animals, everybody needs a little love at some point in their life (in this case they need it to survive-)
I think this is universal with mammalian babies; certainly they proved this with human ones. Untouched human babies can also die. If they do survive, their growth will be stunted because apparently touch influences the production of growth hormone
“wow i can’t believe beavers stay with their moms for two years thats such a long time” i think to myself, a 25 year old living with my parents

The two things I have been told about bearers are,
1. When it's time to go, their mamas will chase them away so they have to find a place of their own.
2. When a beaver hears running water, it will start building a dam out of whatever is available.
Are these true? I have no idea.

My parents like to tell the story of when they were on their honeymoon and came across a young beaver on the road. It had just been kicked out of the lodge, and was so lonely that it tried to get into their car when my dad stopped to try to guide it off the road.

You might not see this but thanks so much Uncle Ben for doing everything that you do for these animals and giving us accurate but still entertaining advice on wildlife rehabilitation. We know taking care of all these guys and editing these videos can’t be easy but you do an amazing job!

Highly recommend adding Elodea (also called anacharis) or other submerged floaters like hornwort to the pond if you need more plants for water quality. They act as an amazing source of cover/shelter, food (even my dogs love eating anacharis), and filtration. They require no care or setup, you can just toss them in the water if desired. Easily one of the best most simple ways to bolster the health of a pond
