This was the first chance to show off Kirstie's voice in a big way, but it was the next performance, 7, where PTX basically started scaring the hell out of the competition. With 10, they had pretty much sealed it up. By 12, it was just the icing on the cake.
They did have to do a medley, they didn't have to mash them up all together at the end. They chose to go over and above with mashing up all three at once. Kirstie did the first song, Scott did Toxix, and then Mitch did Hold It Against Me. Then, at the end, they mixed all three.
Next week is MAJOR Meat and Potatoes. Once you've finished all 12 competition videos, you need to react to Superfruit's critique of their performances on the Sing Off. It's hilarious.
The Britney Medley is one of my favorites. I enjoyed your reaction to it. The next one tops this one, though, so better get prepared. 😉 Since you've been asking about the length of the show and the theme weeks: Season 3 was ten weeks that counted for the voting, and week 11 was the live final. The first 12 performances counted for the voting. The show started out with 16 participating groups, so they divided them into two batches. Weeks 1 and 3 were for batch A, weeks 2 and 4 for batch B. PTX was in batch B so they didn't perform in weeks/shows 1 and 3. Starting with show/week 5, they combined both batches; ten groups were left at that point. Week 1/2 was one performance, week 3/4 were two performances, so PTX sang "Your Love is My Drug" (performance 2) and "Piece of my Heart" (performance 3) at the same night. Weeks 5 to 7 were one performance each, and starting week 8 it was two songs per night again. So PTX sang performances 7 and 8 in week/show 8, performances 9 and 10 in week/show 9 and performances 11 and 12 in week/show 10. All these counted; after show 10 ended, the vote was opened to the public. In the live final, they sang another two songs (one of them with Nick Lachey), neither of which counted anymore into the vote, plus the winning song of course. As you found out in the clip, week 7 was Superstar Medleys. Week 8 was rock classics (performance 7) and country hits (performance 8). Both songs in week 9 were R&B. Week 10 was Mastermix Medleys (performance 11) and Judge's Choice (performance 12).
the sound effect before the drop is Avi. He is capable of overtone singing meaning he can sing two notes at once. They used it from the start in ET but the judges never picked it up. The Sam you are looking for is Sam Tsui ua-cam.com/users/TheSamTsui His collabs with Kurt Hugo Schneider are awesome.
My theory on the "disagreement" is a result of PTX getting all good feedback from the judges so they can't exploit there weaknesses for drama. There are some weeks that they do 2 songs like 7 & 8 are actually done the same week.
You know, Kev and Avi had never even met until the day before this sing-off started. As time went on they discovered how their separate talents might mesh so they started about the show before this one to really stand out as something special. The other three had always been together but Avi and Kev were added last moment.
Also... clarification. Superstar Medley week. Everyone had to piece together 3 songs. This was the most unique. Everyone else just went song to song to song and ended. But they were all really good. Other Superstars used: Elvis, Queen, Mariah Carey, Billy Joel...
You might find it interesting to watch a full episode of the sing off if you can find one. In addition to doing their own performance, they had to do a number with the other groups at the beginning of the show. So that’s more lyrics and choreography they would have to learn each week. Also you could see how innovative PTX was compared to the other groups.
Shawn Stockman seems to have thought that judging was his *second* job on this show; the primary thing he was there for was having fun. It made for some delightful reactions from him.
Kevin was the last one to join, due to his final exams and graduation from Yale. He only arrived in time for them to have one day to rehearse together before their audition. So yes, Kevin and Avi were still getting a feeling for what they could do together in the first few performances.
So, I love that you are doing these. Please, after the final performance, please make sure you do the episode where they announce the winner. Yes, we know they won, but it is awesome to see Pentatonix and how terrified they are before they hear their name. I cry each time I see it! The emotions they go through when the realize they did it, is awesome to see!

After you've done all of the episodes, please include their comeback visit to the sing off the next season.

I think he was in the episode of Bones that Scott, Mitch and Kirstie was in.
@@annmc3878 yes he was
It was Oops I did it again then Toxic then Hold it against me and then a mashup of all 3 at the end
Great reaction. Thanks. There are some awesome performances coming, especially 7,10, 11 and 12.

I agree with Genevieve, the next one is soooooo good! You should do it right away!
I always enjoy going on Google Adventures with you! I never know what we’ll find!

Ohh yeah, the Halloween opening piece is BAMMM
Yup you need that sip of water after the Kirstie moment
Yey love the ptx journey
The "full on disagreement" was because the producers wanted to film dissension in the group, so they were giving the producers what they wanted.

Their Wikipedia page tells the theme for each week
his name is spelled Sam Tsui and his music is awesome
The name of the "internet sensation" mentioned at the end is Sam Tsui.
Sam Tsui is another artist that got their start on UA-cam! He was big back then, and still posts lots of good covers on his UA-cam channel.
*snorts* MEN! Can anyone hear the music.... :p
