That’s RuPaul’s Drag Race in a nutshell
I used to work in , manage and promote at danceclubs in New York..I had a drag queen roommate and met her friends, they wanted to convert me but I declined. Instead I chose to Mc their drag shows. It was fabulous. Me in a tux introducing the girls as they performed ..many had tough lives. They were strong, beautiful and resilient ...one night I closed the club was followed by six guys who I didn't let into the club that night, they bashed me , one pushng my head down another swinging a bat to smash my head but I shot up and they bashed my kneecap instead...I went down and they pummeled me and rolled me into the street to be run over by traffic. .cars drove by with people laughing at me ..no one helped. A woman scooped me up..she walked me to the payphone booth to call the police..I told her to be carful , they are still around..she opened her purse and showed me her gun. I hugged her tight...we waited for the police..when they came I asked to kiss her, told her she saved my life...I asked her name..she said Ralph. She was a drag queen. Never judge because you don't know who will save your life..we caught them as I am an artist and was able to sketch two of their faces..
Wow. Thank you for your story. I think the best part of Drag Race is seeing the personal stories of each person on the show. Glad they caught those sick bastards. ((hugs))

You should watch Ru Paul's drag race untucked. It's the behind the scenes during the elimination process and a lot of the drama generally goes down then. Also season 5 is the best!!

I love watching people that have never seen it before react to drag race. It's really a show that has SO much going on....showcasing talents, drama, humor, genuine emotional moments, fashion, etc. And besides the language and sometimes very adult content, it's actually a show I watch with both my 60-yr old mother and 11 and 6 year old nieces. It's just a really fun show, and the queens are such interesting and diverse people.
It also is such a great foray into the LGBTQ+ community, especially for straight people that don't have much of an understanding of it.
