Jim Dunne - Remembering Neighbours - The Mittens and The Mythens J

Here is a short chat I had with 90 year old Jim Dunne of Moneyboe, Oulart on the 22nd of July 2020. I called to Jim as down the road from him there is the ruins of an old clay wall building that has caught my eye for year. Yesterday I got permission from the owner to take some photos of it, however I wanted to find out more about it rather than just posting pictures of an old home. However small this is, I now have a bit more information on the home and the people and most of all I managed to have a chat with Jim in the process and enjoy hearing his hearty laugh. What a joyful man who has had a joy filled life at 'over 90'. How I love the elderly and their stories. We need story tellers like this legend.

I am the son of Irish, my father was born in Multyfarnham Co. Westmeath and listening to these old men takes me back to the old Irish immigrants who populated the Argentine lands. I would like to know if Dunne has relatives in Argentina. Here, where I live, in Venado Tuerto, Santa Fe, Argentina there are families with that surname. Very nice this video remembering old times.

When we lose these people we lose a huge part of memories and traditions. I could sit and listen to this gentle man all day. I bet the stories by the fire would be just brilliant. Maith an fear ~Slan ~Sean...
