here's the problem with cats especially cats that are let roam their nest predators they will kill anything from about 3 ft above ground down that nests low they will also kill baby rabbits Chipmunks and baby squirrels anything they catch and more often than not they don't even eat them especially if they're getting fed by the locals which does happen a lot of people will leave food out for feral cats so they basically kill for fun.
I live in a very rural area occasionally we do see feral cats from other farms roaming around I try not to bother them but if they get around my chickens and I have baby chicks I do eliminate them that's just what I do like it or not.
