Ukraine frontline: Caught in terrifying firefight with Russian soldiers in front line trench
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 лип 2023
- Dramatic video shows the Daily Mail's Richard Pendlebury and Jamie Wiseman coming under fire from Russian artillery while compiling a report on Ukraine's front line. The pair witnessed a firefight between Ukrainian troops and Russians who were just 400 metres away across no man's land, after they were given extraordinary access to a front line trench in the Donbas region. They also encounter a Russian drone - before their journey out of the trench almost goes disastrously wrong when a full-scale battle rages around them while they make their way through a treeline.

2023 and we're seeing trench warfare. This is honestly so surreal.. War is hell, I just want this tragedy to end..
Well if you were truly honest you would have said ... For this war to end Russia has to be defeated, but you won't say that
And we both know why ,😉
@@nimenialturo Until defeated means killing literally every man, woman, and children living in that country. Ukraine obviously has a right to defend itself but you always need to consider how far is *too* far in terms of a response?
Trench warfare is never going to end lol it’s one of the most efficient strategies.
It would have happened however Zelensky stated he would never sign a ceasefire with the russians

I have prayed for the Russian soldiers too. But that does not mean that the side that started it is not the one that has to stop it too. Otherwise every dicatorship in this world will learn that it can attack anyone at whim without ever beeing hold accountable of it.
This isn't Iraq or Afghanistan where journalist safety is almost guaranteed when embedded with allied forces (since there is .00005% chance of ever being overwhelmed by the enemy). Unbelievable guts that they would do this from the frontlines.
People don't understand that NATO forces can just call in air support and they rarely if ever see the enemy. Balls it takes fight this kind of war.
The safety is guaranteed when you are larping.
I'd do it. mind you I don't care if I get killed.
@@brookwhiteman9810In a war with an enemy like Russia, you will not have air support. The maximum you can hope for is that the Russians will collect you all in a bag and exchange you for the same poor fellow

This is fascinating to see trench warfare in modern times, but also terrifying.
If you don’t wanna get ptsd, you should lay off war footage & modern war shows.Though I’m a military historian,I shy away from seeing those.
@@Russia-bullies You don't get PTSD from looking at war footage
I haven't seen any Russian. How do I know this isn't staged? This could be anywhere. Not a single Landmark.
I'll say one thing as a US Marine infantry officer who served 21 years with 3 years in combat. The Ukrainian military have a set of huge titanium balls to conduct offensive operations when the Russians have had over a year to prepare in-depth defenses. I was a Marine platoon commander in Vietnam 1968-69 and I know what it is like to go against prepared defenses. I know what it's like when the area is saturated with mines and booby-traps. I know how dangerous firefights are.
The biggest difference is that the Viet Cong didn't have anything more than 81 mm mortars but the North Vietnamese Army in had heavy artillery in the northern part of South Vietnam which was more intense and concentrated than what Russia has delivered and it was extremely effective.
During the 10 years of war in Vietnam, the US lost 68,000 Killed and at least 3 times that wounded. The US lost 8,540 aircraft and South Vietnam lost another 1,351 aircraft..
So in those 10 years, we lost about 6,800 men and women killed every year. We lost about 854 aircraft a year.
I'm 77 years old now. I'm still not sure how I made it through the year I was there without a scratch. When I came home, i was mentally and physically exhausted because we didn't get rotated out or combat. My platoon operated most of the time alone. We'd be in combat for 2-3 months at a time and then battalion would bring us back for 3 days of rest and hot meals. Then it was back out for 2-3 months.
I have the greatest respect for the Ukrainian armed forces. Being able to conduct offensive operations against a superior force is just awesome. I pray for your success.
Pretty sure that the Anglo-saxons proxy war in Ukraine is not going as planned....
If they had combined arms capability breakthroughs would be all over the place.
And your enemy didn’t have drones too. It must be a dystopian warfare in these trenches now

Guessing this is sarcasm? This is not a new concept.
Do you have even the slightest notion of how many reporters have been in the field in battle.
look at video from WW2, Korea or Vietnam.
Interesting and informative. Excellent photography job enabling viewers to better understand what the orator was describing. From what I've seen these trenches have grass/bushes/trees. Giving the combat personal some cover. Along with the plant life absorbing some of the rain ☔ fall. Helping to keep the trenches a little dryer.
Propaganda everywhere
I remember hearing these whistling amplifying sounds right before the artillery shell lands all in these old movies about WWII. I always thought that it’s just a cartoonish stage sound they use to dramatise movies, but after seeing all of Ukraine war footage, apparently that’s what incoming shells actually sound like.
My dad had a friend in a pmc that went over to Ukraine few months after the start of the war, he didn’t do much, but he did almost got hit by artillery, he sent us body cam footage, it sounded exactly like from the movies.
Yes, it sounded exactly like in a movies - we had to fall on the ground a few times.
dude. Your 38. Really ? lol
I recall reading that a certain variety of German artillery was known as a "whizz-bang". So presumably a high velocity round such as those used today.
yes. some weaponry even has equipment on it to amplify the 'scream', for psychological warfare benefits.
Oh, this reporter is sooooooooo brave … actors and comedians … you should be ashamed of yourself for not exposing the lies about what actually is happening in the Ukraine!
whatever you may think of the greater picture doesn’t change the inherent immediate, objective danger of what is occurring around them every millisecond of the day. He’s anxious, but he’s clearly done this before, too.

Technically, this is not journalism. This is a report, from a location. Journalism requires covering both sides, more than one "voice" in one's story. You could achieve the same effect with some simple recorded background shots and explosions, while walking through a secondary or even a trench dug for training? Guess we'll never know 😉 but my guess is that it's utter BS that you could get that close without calling in fire from the Russians.
Damn.. that guy wanted to get you close but he got you too close. I was worried about that. Incredible documentary though and you didn't even push a narrative
Probalby at your own backyard, all quiet. Amplifying sound is easy.
The Ukrainian soldiers know what they're doing even though the fighting is tense on both sides. Glory freedom to Ukraine.
No way. Something people class as real journalism from the mail
Why send reporters to the front line and risk their lives?
Not enough drone footage to be news worthy?
The drone shows one style of view of the action and a reporter on the ground shows an entirely different view. 2 different things. And of course it's the reporters choice to go to the front lines and naturally they are in a much better position to assess the risks than a UA-cam audience. It definitely looks hair raising though.
See my comment above ... Without them we would not know the truth ... !!!
