AZ will forever remain one of the greatest, under valued lyricists of all-time. The man who can go toe to toe with anyone on beat but never received the "praise" from the industry as he remained true to himself, not willing to conform to become a major artist. Truly a master of his craft and those AZ x Nas or The Firm collabs will always be some of the greatest displays of lyrical content to ever exist.
Under valued by WHO? And When? He was HIGH valued from day ONE. even when he didnt feel he was high value. He JUST told the story of how he EFFORTLESSLY got put on one of the greatest rap albums of all time. Why yall always say that about people who are accomplished in their craft? Yall say dumb shit like "he/she don't get enough credit or that "underrated" shit. Just call him a great artist and keep it pushing. AZ been considered a MONSTER by every and anyone with half a brain.
@@realitymetrue facts.

You can say the same about Cormega. Cormega had his career sabotaged by Nas and Cormega is one of the illest to ever rhyme!
He gotta grammy
AZ and NAS on tracks together is larger than life incredible music together
Ya
His verse on Life’s A Bitch is one of my favorite verses ever. Still to this very day that verse is crazy 🔥🔥🔥
Probably the most complete verse from A-Z
Truthfully
Beat nas
@legendsflashback Nas verse was great. That buck that bought a bottle could've struck the lotto. AZ won, but not by much. Nas still had an incredible verse. Go listen to AZ feat nas mo money mo murda mo homicide and see what Nas does. He killed it
@@legendsflashbackListen to Serious and see how Nas killed it
AZ said he was concerned about his voice.. His voice is light, but his lyrics and the ferocity in his flow more than made up for that. He sounded confident and seasoned, like he's been in the game for years. His debut verse was lightning in a bottle. A rare moment for hip hop.
I’ve heard him describe his voice as light before and it took me awhile to figure it out. Because it sounds deep to me but I get how it sound light on beats. Still considered one of the best voices ever.
His voice is dopeeeeee
shit some of my favorite voices in hip-hop are “light”.. AZ, Money B, Mark 7even, Lord Finesse.....
Yup 👍🏾💯
@@HeartBreakInGotham It just sounds kiddish, kinda like Westside Gunn's voice. But the way he speaks, you can tell he's a serious cat.
He has a unique voice, fits perfectly in that era
That's his gift and curse

Math actually got AZ on the show. Definitely that Brooklyn love being shown 🗽
AZ's new music is sharper than ever! Blessed to have witnessed the contributions of a living legend!
Facts The Goat is hard
This Is Why is dope to. Scarface vibes.
That was my biggest issue with his older albums. Man is 1 of the best lyricists and wordsmiths of the whole culture, but he always got on some garbage beats that were so beneath him. He got on beats that were bad for average rappers. AZ the type of MC that exclusively should be on Preemo, Pete Rock, 9th Wonder beats. Doe or Die II honestly is a God-send.
I met this man a few months ago while he was on tour. Got to chop it up with him. I kid you not he's just as cool in person as you see him here. A rare breed. Shout out to Leek.
“Everything counts”… that response in itself says it all.
No entitlements or jealousy. A love for the craft, respect of his peers, and humble on the journey. AZ, most underrated!!
We all know AZ doesn't do many interviews, Math you really showing levels to this! AZ on any podcast platform has been the most requested for ever! Impeccable lyricist, most underated period! Salute to Math and the God AZ
Math had to turn his cool up in this episode. He got his chair angled just like AZ. He's sitting just like AZ. Sosa changed the energy in the spot 🫡
He got big bro energy.he cool but with simple ease you can tell he ain't worried about feelings.i strive to be so respected and protected.
AZ has classics for days, one of the most overlooked lyricist in the game.
Luv AZ he like a old school mobster with the way he answers questions he answers but he doesn't say anything, gotta respect an OG that stuck to the code, respect ✊🏾✌🏾🥶

Even when AZ is having a normal conversation, he still sounds like he rappin'. That's how good of a rapper A is.
Love from Cape Town, South Africa
Crazy how you can be in a crowded room and immediately know AZ is there by his voice. He's def RATHER UNIQUE!
Live from Indiana! AZ has always been one of my favorite MCs. I saw him with his family at the African American History Museum in DC. He was cooling so hard with the fam, I didn’t even approach. Just saluted and kept it moving.
Looking forward to hearing his thoughts.
One of my favorite MCs of all time..."From a half a chicken to acquisitions, the math is different...No ass-kissin', I don't ask permission". AZ dope af.
AZ is one of the most underrated yet most consistent spitters ever! I haven't heard ONE verse from him that I was iffy about! Can't wait to see this whole interview!
AZ is who Nas thinks he is....😅😅
@@ghussygangyo man put some respect on the OG
Gotta love his humility. Brothers like him are needed in the space today. Dope and not really feeling himself like that. Deserves more praise and flowers. ❤🙏
AZ exhibits the "Honor Code" to it's core. Don't over talk, watch your surroundings, listen well, tell the explanation with a limit. Peace King
One of the most 'unique" voices in Hip-Hop. Thanks to AZ for his humble contribution to the culture. BIG UP !!!
*”AZ never spit a wack verse, but he has had some wack beats that he helped carry cuz his flow godly” 💯 - MELL DUNEY 616*
@ZachVanHarrisJR, I definitely second that! Sometimes Nas, would do the same thing. Their sword game is so vicious that I truly believe people would overlook the production aspect of some of their songs at times? But you definitely hit that one directly in the eye with your analysis my guy! I’m feeling that!
Math you literally just made my entire year son, ever since I started watching you before Covid; I think I’ve commented at least on every other two videos to do an interview with AZ and you finally did it, thank you so much man.
This man doesn’t get the love, respect and exposure that he truly deserves for being one of the most dangerous and prolific emcees of all time.
I hope he knows that he’s one of the greats, even if the streams don’t show it, he really is. New album otw btw!
You can probably name a solid 20-30 artist who don’t get the recognition. It’s just a lot of artists and not enough time in the day to talk about all of them
Glad I'm not the only one who genuinely feels this way.
Mine too.. Dream come true.
Niggas be praising strangers in comments but don't even help they kids with they homework get your priorities straight 😂😂😂
Made your year ? Your a grown up get off your knees, have respect for yourself ..
I remember the first time I heard Life’s a Bit*h and AZ’s voice/flow/bars blew me away. Dude is a treasure

@MC-zg9rv I mean Undeniable which was later years AZ was pretty incredible to me. Format and Legendary are pretty darn good. AWOL was being passed around in high school like it was the Bible. Aziatic is a treasure. Do or Die is great. But your right he's elite and that's all that matters

Az & Fabolous both being from Brooklyn & haven't done a record 2gether is wild from a hip hop fan perspective. Smh
Right? I read an article where an interviewer asked FAB about AZ and all he could say was that he learned how to pattern his rhyme style from him. And that he would sometimes bumb into him at the grocery store lol.

I like how AZ answer his questions & explains himself very well.
I actually don't like it. But I think it's interesting that you point that out specifically. As someone who has kept up with his career since the beginning, I've seen damn near every interview. I've met him in person 2wice. The thing about him that I think he could benefit from is being a bit more detailed and sharing insight that we don't have. He is very nonchalant. So much so that the intrigue I had once with his mystique has lost steam. It's like, we know you have wisdom. It's all in the rhymes. We know you have bear witness to parts of hip hop that most of us could never see. SHARE more with us. I mean damn, it's been damn near 30 years since Illmatic. That stuff matters to loyal fans. Especially after your best and most exciting days and music is behind you.
AZ is a great. But I see why he struggled to get to that place where Nas has made it to.
@@Philg119just let the artist be the artist like their music …I think the artist doesn’t need to share every experience with the fans! These are regular people and we put them on pedestals! AZ seems like a man who just likes being normal not a superstar and he doesn’t want Nas celebrity status. I like how AZ didn’t let Math speak for him he explains himself. Y’all want these artist to just chat their whole life. Let’s just appreciate the man AZ and what he did in hip hop. I don’t care about AZ hustling I care about his music! Stand up man with wisdom
@theenlightmentchannel3842 I don't dismiss his character at all. He's solid. I'm saying that because of his nonchalant character, he doesn't offer up much in terms of intrigue anymore. Earlier in his career, he had the allure of relationship with Nas, his content, his delivery/wordplay, and the hopes of his return to prominence. If I'm being honest...since 2011 his content has been redundant. His wordplay is still sharp, but the tracks lack gusto. I mean, they just aren't as interesting to ME. Not all bad, but not as interesting. When an artist reaches this point in their careers, they benefit from giving the fans insight. Stories. Things that keep it interesting. He's gonna do him regardless. I just wish there was more excitement with his pop-ups, releases, and press runs.
For you youngsters who may not know, this is one of the greatest Mcs ever who used to be in the Biggie,Jay and Nas debates..
