I love Illysanna's story. And regarding the "foul influence" I think that was with Jarod trying to excuse it. Maiev herself never mentions being mind controlled or corrupted.

I think that answer for first question is No, old gods are not fighting anymore. They simple let things happend, they do not interfate to the world. They are something like watchers.
You all have it so wrong. Xavius and Azhara are with the Old gods. The Emerald nightmare comes exactly from them. They are not watchers. They are still scheming against Azeroth and are probably spreading their corruption, but they are against the Legion. Basically, Sargeras is working to destroy Azeroth because of them.

Tyrande killed her Warden Sisters to free Illidan who then reaked havoc with The Naga? and then Maiev is painted as the villain. feels like she's suffered from the same poor writing we see in comics. A male character needs a plot so a female character has to sacrifice her consistency.
Illysanna Ravencrest was among those Demon Hunters sent to hunt down the Dread Lord and was captured. Adding insult to injury, they filled her with fel and manipulated her mind, like they had done to the other Ravencrest elves. That’s what I got from this and it’s now my head canon.
Blizzard retcon the most interesting arc of a character possible full with internal conflict and identity crisis with exactly one sentence. "She was under bad influence". Damn shame really.
I don't think it was Blizzard doing a full retcon of her character development. Just Jarod not willing to believe that, yes, Maiev would do all these terrible things. Right now, she's putting her feelings aside to deal with the real threat, but sooner or later, she will turn against us for her own reasons.
Jordan Shank I almost willing to bet that this is not going to be touch on again. This is blizzard, I know their writing full well by now. The way Maive act like this in legion, freeing illidari and caring about Azeroth shows that full contradiction of her novel. Like there is a piece of missing information in the middle and all Blizzard did is just fill it in with like one drop of water and expect to satisfied the thrist. It just Maiev in the novel feel that she was being betray and without purpose. She keep illidan in prison for her whole life and that was her one goal. When she finally captured him, she does not know what to do. And with malfurion refused to accept the night elf immortality, she begin to see her life as a waste. The whole self identity crisis is just gone for some reason.
What happened in Warlords? In "The Tomb of Sargeras" Maiev says she and the sisters loaned Cordana but Khadgar drove her to the legion. So she had changed already if she was willing to work with us before legion?? I do agree this is a freaking 100 degree turn. In Wolfheart she doesn't care that the Horde is about to knock down Ashenvale and claim the land all for themselves. She hates the humans and other members of the Alliance. Meh, to Blizzard on this story arc.
I'll do that quest on my night elf mage, see if she reacts differently. Now that I think about it, night elf mages are probably the reason they had to scrap the whole "murderous and pissed at nelf society" thing. Would be stupid if a certain class and race combo made her kill you.
I prefer what has become of Maiev. It's become bland to see Female Characters go insane or full on baddy torwards us. Too many heroines and other beloved characters become antagonists and I am happy to see Maiev is not one of them. Time will tell if Sylvanas and Jaina's fate will be as antagonists. I certainly hope not.
That's not really a problem, considering she is freed with the rest of the Demon Hunters at the prison break at Vault of the Wardens. At that point, all the Demon Hunters are together with the player, but she gets kidnapped at Havoc DH scenario and turned against you later on.

Queen Azshara is Highborn (well technically). Highborn (Quel'dorei, High elves) were the upper class of Kaldorei civilization and the servants of Queen Azshara. Basically the nobility. And they were also the best mages. I think Ravencrest was Highborn (since he was a good politician and lord of Black Rook Hold, which was in possession of his family a long time), but he didn't agree with queens (highborn) plans and co-formed the resistance. I assume that after this his noble titles were revoked. He would stop using it anyway, except for Lord title which was family legacy.
Mr.Vojtik But in lore, Lord Ravencrest refuses to believe the queen is responsible for summoning the demons because he doesn't consider her Highborne, therefore assumes the best about her. Meaning he himself has a prejudice against Highborne, which is weird since his status should indicate he himself is part of the Highborne.

How could it be the home of Druidism, while also being sundered underwater for 10k years... and yet it still has all the buildings on it that look just fine.... So... how can these ancient buildings be intact after being under the ocean for 10k years? As far as why they removed his soul from his body: Illidan's body will be Sargeras's avatar. You learn about this via the class hall quest chain. That's why you're collecting the 80 pieces of Illidan's soul via the last boss of each dungeon.

Some probably got lost because of the storms, like what happened to the orcs. Then, it's unlikely that there were 2 Gilnean expeditions during the Third War. After all, they were in Gilneas separated from the rest of the world, so the Scourge wasn't a threat to them, only if they were part of Jaina's forces.

Epyrian valsharah was never drown underwater. Only isle of broken shore with Sargeras's tomb.

The change of Maiev's story arc is a bit confusing, but I'm trying not to wrap my head around that too much. At least she is on our side now.

Some probably got lost because of the storms, like what happened to the orcs. Then, it's unlikely that there were 2 Gilnean expeditions during the Third War. After all, they were in Gilneas separated from the rest of the world, so the Scourge wasn't a threat to them, only if they were part of Jaina's forces.

Did you play DH? You saw we trail/recruit new DH? There is some other DH who can teach them Metamorphosis. And possibly grant them new eyes...
