My heart just melted when Scarlet asked you to please work with her! Then she proceeded to follow your lunging cues for about one and a half circles before gleefully romping around wherever she pleased. Then she would remember, stop, and turn back to you like, "Wait, where'd you go? Do it again! Do it again!" That was way too adorable. And Ziggy is such a fine country gentleman. I'm so glad he is okay and will continue to be so in your capable and loving hands.
The way she was doing it for fun, for play, and tried to get Ziggy to join in because it’s fun! My heart melted. What a sweetheart! She obviously feels very safe and comfortable with CC. Loved the head shake when she was done rolling, too 😁
Thank you for explaining what that ment because I did not know & now I do!😊 & now knowing this it made what I seen (but didn't comepletely understand before) so much more BEAUTIFUL ❤
True. That was so nice and amazing to see. She is doing so much better. She exhibits the body language of ta-da, yep I did it. Proud little steps on her own. So thankful you caught the choke in Ziggy and were able to get him to the vet quick.

One of my mares (Arab/Morgan mix) choked on oats, they were coming out of her nose. This was when I was younger. It was terrifying. I still think about it. I pray to God I never have to go through that again. I'm so glad she caught it and was able to get Ziggy the help he needed.
I’ve been here since almost the very beginning and I love the way you just film your day and come back and do a voice over. It’s very easy to see how much you love and genuinely care about these beautiful creatures.❤
My gelding just recently choked on his alfalfa pellets. Even though I have always added warm water to the pellets. He has been fed this way for 3 years. So now I soak the alfalfa pellets for an hour before feeding. This really scared me because he had never done this before. I called the vet, and she came out immediately, but by the time the vet arrived, the chocking was over! I'm so glad... My vet only charged me for emergency vet call and antibiotics shot. Thank you for sharing the video of Ziggy in distress from choking. This will help horse owners to understand what a horse choking from feed looks like! Happy, Ziggy is doing well! 😊
I had a horse that was prone to choke. I fed him dissolved, soaked pellets. I also found that if I spread them out in a bigger feeder, that he couldn't eat too fast.
Oh what a relief Ziggy is OK. My heart in my mouth. New Girl looks like his sister, bigger sister. So happy she is doing so much better, loved her rolling around on the ground.
I think the new mare should be called Mama. That just seems to suit her so well. She’s done with that part of her life, but it honors her. It’s a form of respect for her past labors.
I am so thankful Ziggy is feeling much better. Thank you so much for taking him to the vet immediately. I love this channel and the herd very much ❤❤❤❤
I'm glad you noticed Ziggy was having issues & you got him to the vet right away. He looks like he's doing ok now. Scarlet is doing so much better with going in & out of her stall. Plus wanting to be haltered before Ziggy was impressive. The new horse is looking so much better. I don't know if she's out of danger yet but I hope so. She's gonna be a pretty horse once she's healthy again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful sunset over the mountains with us.

How lovely to see the progress in Scarlet; wanting to work and interact ...and voluntarily popping in and out of her stall. Good job recognizing a potential serious threat to Ziggy. Scarlet really has attached herself to Ziggy doing so well coming in and out of stall makes you smile silly little baby got to love them.

It was so nice to see that Ziggy was feeling better by the end of the day❤ It’s the worst when an animal is sick and you can’t just immediately take it away. Thank you for another great video because this one was a good one❤❤❤❤❤
Oh, Ziggy! Scary stuff, CC! But thanks to your quick action he's ok. The new mare is looking better and better. It is really heartwarming to see Scarlett walk up to you for attention instead of dancing away. I am still smiling about Pete coming up to you the other day. They do appreciate you, Momma, even if they don't always show it.
Gorgeous sunset! Thank you for all you do - saving Ziggy, getting Scarlet to kick her heels up - new Mama is looking much better and Tiny runs expertly along the rails overseeing it all! ❤
It's wonderful that you have empowered Scarlet, and that she knows she can trust you. I don't think you should blame yourself for Ziggy's choking incident; you were on top of it right away, and hopefully, he'll be all better soon. It's funny to see the path from Nigel's food dish to his shelter, knowing he pretends not to use it when you are around. New horse is looking better; glad she has you. Have a beautiful weekend.

That Tiny is such a character. Full of ,"Spit and Vinegar" as I use to hear some folks say. Scarlet is so funny, still not her favirite activity to just go through a doorway where a booger could be lurking. Lol She is turning into such a beautiful mare and I love her curiosity. I still call the new gal Mayflowe as one gsl suggested because I do see her on a new pilgrimage thanks to you. I just love her so much and would love to see what Ziggy thinks of her later ? Maybe Ziggy vould have his own small herd to be appreciated. All of the horses deserve all the love and support that you lavish on them. You are such a light in our world🥰🥰
I think Ziggy would appreciate the new mare in his herd more than he sometimes appreciates Scarlett. He was very annoyed with her rambunctious nature in this video, probably because he was still not completely well and he blamed his coughing on her when they were in the pen together.
My heart stopped when Zig was choking, I felt sick. Thank you CC for being such a wonderful carer and super knowlegable horse woman. You are the best. Scarlet is adorable, and Momma is already looking much better. You work so hard, they love you so do we.💖✨️.
Ziggy is a sweetheart. It's great you have such observation skills. Scarlett choosing to roll in the snow was hilarious. Thank you for sharing your life!
So sorry for Ziggy, but so glad he is getting better. Love seeing how much better the old girl is doing. WOW, Scarlet is doing so well getting in and out of the stall!!! Thanks so much for the updates❤❤❤❤❤
Poor Ziggy can’t catch a break. I’m so glad you noticed his choking right away and was able to get him to the vet so quickly! He’s having such a good effect on Scarlet, I hope it continues! 🩶🤍
In my 30 years of owning horses and being around many stables I have never witnessed a horse choke. Scary! Glad Mr. Zig is okay. He's such a sweet boy. Fun watching Scarlett realize not everything is out to get her. 👻
C.C.’s ability to train and care for horses is only made better by her teaching and demonstrating the work needed for keeping horses. It is labor along with an ability to share compassion with heart along with the dedication of time to do and accomplish it. C.C. demonstrates what it must have been like for the earliest human horse partnership that was 4,000 years ago; it is a very special talent and work to be observed and appreciated. Good Job C.C. 👍
My horse, decades ago, got an alfslfa pellet stuck in his throat. Had to massage throat to get it moing. He had green mucus dripping out his nose. Scared me to death at the time. Once it moved, he was back to normal. I checked the pellets and some were extra long. I have been real careful with them ever since.
Sometimes a little massage will work! Ziggy's was really painful, poor guy, I could feel it. I always soak alfalfa and beet pulp pellets until they are mush, When Frisco choked he nearly died from pneumonia!
Thank you for explaining what happens with choking. My mother talked about her horse dying from “choking on a thistle” and I never really understood what that meant. My mother was born in 1909, and this probably happened in the 1920’s. We grew up as kids playing on the coat of her horse, Rosalee. I loved that coat, as though it was my memory of my horse. I am 75 (today!) and this memory of my mom and her love for Rosalee is still fresh in my memory.
I am guessing that when your mare Starts feeling stronger, And realizes that she is free from responsibilities and doesn’t need to battle for food her true personality will come through. I bet there’s some steel in there and a lot of horsey wisdom 😎🕊️♥️
My heart dropped when you said it was Ziggy. When I saw him that next morning, it was obvious that he wasnt feeliing great. He looked like he had a sleepless night & a hangover with some bed head going on! When you said it was choke my heart dropped again. If you hadnt spotted it before leaving the barn,...he may not have made it. I have to wonder if Arabs are prone to choke. I think you handled Scarletts fear of entering the stall correctly. If you had used force, she would probably have ended up with a lifelong hang up.
Its like putting a hyperactive 5 th grader in with a High schooler like a Senior! Ziggy looks at Scarlett like "You've got to be kidding me." The title really scared me. Ziggy is just a sweetheart. I really hope he's ok.❤
Thinking of you CC and Ziggy today. I hope Ziggy is more himself after what happened. Sending a big hug to you both. Much thoughts and love from myself and fam❤
So happy to hear Ziggy is on the mend. I get wanting to wait to choose a name for the new mare. She deserves the perfect name. Thank you for sharing the sunset, it was beautiful.
Choke is no joke. I have had personal experience with it. In addition to aspirating material into their lungs, they can sometimes damage their esophaguses permanently. It’s painful for them because horses are unable to throw up, like dogs do. They struggle to get the obstruction out, but physiologically they’re not really made to do that. So glad you got Ziggy treated so quickly. His neck muscles will be sore for a few days until his body gets over the trauma. I’ve never heard of a horse choking on something as crumbly as ration balancer. Usually, choke is caused by something with hard edges, like an alfalfa cube. Please don’t beat yourself up too much about not foreseeing that the ration balancer would be enough to choke him. It’s quite possible that he has choked before in his life, and that this choke occurred in a spot in which his esophagus was already damaged. Who knows for sure?
So glad you could get him there so quickly. Poor boy. Horses can have so many health issues that happen so quickly. Never had this happen when I had my horses so thank you for showing what it looks like.
Building trust, creating a safe space, and giving your pupil time to process and not get overwhelmed...this is the best approach whether you are working with animals or people.
I just love the keyboard horse experts who question your management. They just need to chill and realize that horses are not like their spoiled pets in the least, and that your methods are evidence-based. Keep up the good work!
She seems to be what you have been calling her a momma she seems to have the motherly attitude. Seems to be rather a gentle demeanor to her, a Momma. Tfs ❤😊
Glad Ziggy got to feeling better, even if it meant being surly to Scarlett. So neat to see her being less hesitant about stepping over the thresholds to her stall, and that she likes to work.
It sounds like a tremendous amount, but a big horse like the new mare probably weighs over 1,000 lbs. And remember that she's still underweight, so she needs extra to regain her weight so she'll thrive this winter.
So sorry to hear about Ziggy's choke, but happy to hear the sore tooth was extracted. I know that was a big deal for him. He's such a sweety. Cute to see how Scarlet hops over that big scary threshold entry. She is learning, slowly but surely, and she clearly love you. It's so nice to see she is so kind about everything new. It's a beautiful day, and glad to see everyone enjoying it with you.
I know this is different, but I have a medical condition that can cause my esophagus to spasm and choke. I felt such sympathy watching Ziggy being in pain! It’s rough. I’m so glad you’re knowledgeable and know how to watch for ongoing side effects after the initial choke. I never knew that horses could breath even when they’re choking- evolution needs to hurry up and give humans that capability, too. I love your channel and watch every episode. RESPECT!
Poor Ziggy! Glad you made it to the Vet in time. What would Scarlett do without him? She's a sassy girl! It's so cute how the Queen of the Barn gets all mouthy!! She's a beautiful cat. She loves that shakey plate!!! You have such beautiful animals. God Bless you Sweetheart 😊 You're so Blessed to have your four legged babies!! I love your videos ❤😊😊😊 I love the sunset. So beautiful and peaceful.
WOW CC........❤. Thank God Ziggy went into choke while you were still at the barn and not after you left !! You have a lot of Guardian Angels around you & the horses helping out❤. The new mare's belly edema has really gone down and NOT settled in back pasterns.....excellent! You keep saying she is a very large mare.......without her being next to another horse, like say Frisco Bill, to me she looks about maybe 15 hands, however you're saying 16 hands (which is the size I'm used to). Looking forward to seeing all her changes in 6 months. Thank God all is well once again and time to decompress and totally relax with a good night's sleep! HI NIGEL & PETE.....GOD BLESS TO ALL ❤😊❤😊😊
Omg.. Thank u 4 taking such good care of ziggy. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. I love that new mare as well.... I think seeing white horses r just stunning. But Scarlett is just a gorgeous horse as well. oh I love ALL of them are. It's so hard not 2 love every one of them so much..
Ziggy’s neck is filling out and he looks better. He is a pretty boy and he is sweet too. Scarlet clearly loves and trusts you. I will enjoy seeing you and Scarlet out on the trails. The new mare is looking better already.
It always makes my day when there is a video from CC. I wish we could have one everyday but that would be way too much work. The horses would be neglected and that will never happen. CC you are a gem💎💎
Oh poor Ziggy, seeing him in distress just breaks my heart. I'm so glad he's okay! Scarlet is becoming such a sweet, curious little mare. It speaks volumes that she thinks of work as play. "Hey, hey let's do that thing where I run in a circle around you and then you give me scratches!" Such a good girl.
Wasn't that just the best "game" that Scarlet wanted to play? She is so connected to CC. If she is this smart as a two year old, what will the mature mare be like? I'll be tuning in for years to find out.
Ziggy don't scare us all like that!! I'm so glad he is ok! The new girl is looking fantastic, she has so much more life in her eyes! Beautiful sunset and I love little Tiny and her shaky plate.
I saw the title of your video and my heart lurched. When we had horses, we never had that problem. However, a beloved dog almost choked on a dog chew. It was terrifying, but he got it out finally. Glad Ziggy is ok. ❤
I think the name "Winter" would suit your new girl really well. She's calm, snow white, and she came to you during winter. It's maybe a little obvious, but it's such a pretty name for a mare.
The new mare seems to be a beautiful kind ,trusting girl . Its so hard to think, if you hadnt saved her, she would be in the slaughter pipeline now. How could someone use her and then just throw her away 😢. She is truly blessed to be with you, CC 🥰
I’ve always thought that putting blankets on horses was like putting a little run-in shed on them that they could carry around on their backs. That was a good teaching moment with Ziggy and the choke.
I'm so glad you saved Ziggy... again!... and I hope he will get well soon ❤🙏 Scarlett hopping in and out of her stall, playing with Ziggy and at the same time trying to concentrate on liberty lunging is so hilarious! ❤😍 The new mare is looking better and better, how wonderful that she already rolled and stood up on her own! She has such a cute face and fluffy ears ❤🐨 I like how Nigel whinnies when you come to feed him. I still think that this beautiful, grumpy little fart likes you, too, although he prefers so show you his sassy (back)side ❤😏 Frisco did very well disguising himself as mud cake ❤😉 I love that Tiny still gets her shaky plate sessions, it surely helps her being as acrobatic on the fence as she is ❤💃🤸♀️ The sunset was gorgeous, what a beautiful sight for sore eyes and souls ❤🌞
My heart just melted when Scarlet asked you to please work with her! Then she proceeded to follow your lunging cues for about one and a half circles before gleefully romping around wherever she pleased.
Happy Birthday
Scarlett is so brave in many ways. Such a bold smart girl has so much potential! ❤
Its like putting a hyperactive 5 th grader in with a High schooler like a
Senior! Ziggy looks at Scarlett like
"You've got to be kidding me." The title really scared me. Ziggy is just a sweetheart. I really hope he's ok.❤
Thinking of you CC and Ziggy today. I hope Ziggy is more himself after what happened. Sending a big hug to you both. Much thoughts and love from myself and fam❤
So good that Scarlett will go in and out now.
So happy to hear Ziggy is on the mend.
I get wanting to wait to choose a name for the new mare. She deserves the perfect name.
Thank you for sharing the sunset, it was beautiful.
I am so relieved Ziggy is on the mend. Poor boy. ☹️
"Momma" looks 100% better in your care.
Scarlet was so excited when saw Ziggy is coming and running around like a small child 😄
Yes when your teeth hurt you just want to get some food into your stomach so you skip the chewing part, poor baby, your a good Mommy
So glad you checked on Zig when you did! Choke in horses is dreadful.
👍 ❤
So happy Ziggy is ok, Scarlet is beautiful and new girl is in great hands!
Tfs ❤😊
Good to see her lying down and the swelling in her legs going down! Poor Ziggy - how scary!!
Poor ZIGGY! Thanks for helping him 🙏🕊️♥️
Glad Ziggy got to feeling better, even if it meant being surly to Scarlett. So neat to see her being less hesitant about stepping over the thresholds to her stall, and that she likes to work.
Scarlett and Ziggy are so fun to watch. I love how she runs around and ‘flirts’ with him…so heartwarming to see them become friends. ❤
I didn’t realize how much horses eat.. for your new girl - 10lbs morning, 5lb afternoon, 10lbs at night.. omg!!😊
It sounds like a tremendous amount, but a big horse like the new mare probably weighs over 1,000 lbs. And remember that she's still underweight, so she needs extra to regain her weight so she'll thrive this winter.
It's the best feeling in the world to watch you care for your horses!

It is my ´food’ for the day 👍🏻💫
So sorry to hear about Ziggy's choke, but happy to hear the sore tooth was extracted.
HI NIGEL & PETE.....GOD BLESS TO ALL ❤😊❤😊😊
I know it's premature, but Mama fits the new mare nicely. She even looks at you when you say that!
I'm so happy that you got Ziggy the vet care he needed. I'm glad he's feeling better. He's such a beautiful horse.

The horses you train from young become so loving, playful and curious ❤ you can tell in both Stewy and Scarlet ❤
Dear Skelly was the same way. I will always love that boy.
Ziggy’s neck is filling out and he looks better. He is a pretty boy and he is sweet too.
Scarlet clearly loves and trusts you. I will enjoy seeing you and Scarlet out on the trails.
The new mare is looking better already.
So glad Ziggy is ok and that he finally has a friend .
Yay Scarlet!! So glad she is now going in and out on her own
It is good to see Scarlet gaining trust and display curiosity with you. Slow and steady wins the race for sure. Good job!!
It always makes my day when there is a video from CC. I wish we could have one everyday but that would be way too much work. The horses would be neglected and that will never happen. CC you are a gem💎💎
So glad CC does NOT have a new video every day...hard enough to keep up with them all the way it is now 😜 😅
So pleased Ziggy is doing better. Momma mare seems calm and simply happy to be free. I can really see how huge Scarlet is now. I see what you mean. ❤
Scarlet is getting so tall and filled out, Ziggy is starting to look like a pony next to her!
❤🐕 ❤ 🐶 ❤
I think the name "Winter" would suit your new girl really well. She's calm, snow white, and she came to you during winter. It's maybe a little obvious, but it's such a pretty name for a mare.
Oh, boy. What a collage of events, scary, ok, fun , friendship, joy, progress, beauty.
The new girl is looking like a Willow to me.
I'm so glad you saved Ziggy... again!... and I hope he will get well soon ❤🙏
Scarlett hopping in and out of her stall, playing with Ziggy and at the same time trying to concentrate on liberty lunging is so hilarious! ❤😍
The new mare is looking better and better, how wonderful that she already rolled and stood up on her own! She has such a cute face and fluffy ears ❤🐨
I like how Nigel whinnies when you come to feed him. I still think that this beautiful, grumpy little fart likes you, too, although he prefers so show you his sassy (back)side ❤😏
Frisco did very well disguising himself as mud cake ❤😉
I love that Tiny still gets her shaky plate sessions, it surely helps her being as acrobatic on the fence as she is ❤💃🤸♀️
The sunset was gorgeous, what a beautiful sight for sore eyes and souls ❤🌞
