Just chipping in my two cents, although I have only interviewed about 40 to 50 candidates in my career, I have noticed that the majority of them tend to go through their CV when given the opportunity to introduce themselves. Because of that, I specifically ask them not to do that at the beginning of the interview since it is practically a waste of time for both the candidate and the panel.
exactly… obviously we go to interview after reading the CV. i also says “tell me something which is not in the CV” just bcz same reason you mentioned above
