I understand why some people miss Elton John's early voice. It had a more joyful, carefree tone to it. But the familiarity of the music and lyrics has a lot to do with that feeling of nostalgia. I like his late 90's voice more. It was technically the best in his career, imo.

Great job putting this together! I've always thought Elton's voice was like a fine wine...you can tell what year he recorded a song, based on the ever-changing sound of his voice. My personal favorite era of his voice is 1974-1975, especially the Captain Fantastic album. I think the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road clip might be out of phase, however. That was the only clip that was silent when played on my smartphone (I think the left and right channels canceled each other out, when played on a mono speaker).

Hello Jun. Thank you ☺️🤗 I also love Elton John and Freddie more than any other singer 😌💓 What you have listed are also some of my favorite songs 👍😘🎹🎤 You must know that in 1986, John began to experience serious problems with his voice more and more and more hoarse and in January 1987 he underwent a complicated throat operation to remove nodules from the vocal cords; initially there was talk of an infection, but recently the star said it was all caused by excessive abuse of various drugs. The operation made Elton's voice deeper (as a baritone) and completely eliminated his falsetto 😱😰😞
@@danyfilmusic Thank you for teaching me about Elton underwent voice trouble. (ToT) I didn't know that! 😨 I think it's painful incident for singer. However, He has good singing ability that doesn't make us feel that. I was moved to listen "Show Must Go On" Elton singing at Freddie's tribute concert.👏👏👏😍🎵🎶
I love Elton's voice before and after. I'm young, so I know him by his voice of the 90s-2000s, and when I heard his early recordings, I generally thought that another person was singing. His voice was different all the time, but he always sings very beautifully! In his youth, his voice was gentle and sweet, but already in 1978 his voice began to sound lower and more voluminous after the Thom Bell sessions. In 1986, his voice became lower and hoarser due to problems with his vocal cords. After the surgery, his voice became even better, clearer and stronger. He could still use falsetto, but he rarely did so. In the late 90s and now he stopped using falsetto. Maybe he's afraid it won't sound good. And now his voice has certainly become lower due to age, and this is not surprising. He is 76 years old and sings well for his age. He still sings many songs in the same key, but does not use falsetto.
I remember firsts review for the new star Elton John at begin of careeer and his voice and interpretation was often compared to Jose Feliciano, of which he said he was a fan at the time in multiple interviews.
There's one song from his 1995 album Made in England that found himself using his pre-1978 voice: "Latitude," which was arranged by Sir George Martin and featuring a French horn solo.
In 1977-78 as I understand a man by the name of Thom Bell gave vocal training to Elton John thus the darkened tone, in studio your preference can go either way but on touring you can see a massive improvement after the training 78 onwards basically
You are so beautiful! The voice is interstar, And you sing and play piano as an Angel. I LOVE YOU( ARTISTICAMENTE PARLANDO, se no qualcuno si ingelosisce) ❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊
What is interesting about Elton John is that he gives me the impression of someone who's constantly having high HGH (Human Growth Hormone) in his body. This hormone basically makes all your bones grow thicker, once your growth plates have fused when people reach biological adulthood. The thing is that together with his voice, also his face structure has changed. Apart from any weight gain, it's also noticeable that his skull became thicker and square looking whereas it as more delicate before. Normally Skulls do not change at such pace like his in adulthood'. Some people purposefully use HGH in order to combat aging (as it's used in anti aging clinics). However, it's a double edged sword for aging, because on one hand the skull growth will lead to less saggy skin as it's stretched more. However, on the other hand, HGH does 'age' you become less neotenic (biologically childlike) from using it. So your brow ridge will grow. So my guess is that he's on HGH and has been for a long time
That is a myth people spread for no reason. Elton damaged his voice in 1986, due to wear and tear from touring and excess from smoking marijuana. His voice was already deeper in tone, way before he developed the polyps and he changed the way he sang to adapt to it. That was when his voice was still clean, but you can watch or listen to gigs where he didn't sing with a falsetto and his tone was already lower than his old high tenor tone he had before. His vocal cords were not damaged yet, but his voice was changed forever. He then later developed vocal cord polyps, which destroyed his voice completely and there are several examples you can hear that show him literally not being able to sing many parts. The surgery didn't change his voice, it restored it to how it was in early 1986, prior to the development of vocal polyps in his throat. That is an indisputable fact and you can hear it in his Reg Strikes Back and Sleeping With the Past. His voice is clean and he could still do the falsettos. His tone had already changed slightly after he reached 30 and you can easily tell the difference between 25 year old Elton from the early 70s, and Elton from the early 80s, who was in his 30s. While the tone is still intact, it is already thicker and slightly lower, even though he could still hit the high notes and sing in the normal tuning. So it's safe to say that his voice would get deeper with age eventually. The surgery didn't have anything to do with it.
No, it did not. The surgery saved his voice and it was a success. His voice was already lower in 1986, prior to him developing vocal polyps and while the voice was still clean in tone, it was lower than how it used to be. His voice was destined to go deeper as he aged, but the wear and tear from over-singing in tours and the excess in smoking marijuana was the factor that led to his *sudden* voice change in 1986. That is something attested by the doctor that treated him and contrary to what people spread on the internet, the surgery saved his voice. You can also easily listen to the gigs and performances from before and after the surgery. His voice from 1988/89 is nearly identical to how it was in 1986, prior to the damage he did in the Ice on Fire tour and he also used falsettos in that tour. Hell he used falsettos up until 1997, when he performed Goodbye Yellow Brick Road again after 13 years.

Huh ? Elton's heyday was in the 70's, his range was way better before cocaine destroyed his voice in the 80's
@@LordGandor3cocaine didn’t destroy his voice, he had surgery to remove a benign polyp on a vocal cord in early 1987
He only reverted to his early-to-mid 1970s voice for one song -- "Latitude" -- from his 1995 album Made in England.

Elton's early voice was best. Up to and including 1976. It doesn't sound strained like in later years.
He did bring it back briefly in 1995, on the song "Latitude" from the album Made in England.
Honestly I'm still amazed that he's still performing to this day
My favorite Elton voice is around 1980 to 1985. More mature than earlier but still able to sing in falsetto.
1969-1976 are the best years of elton
