I really enjoyed this. I have a 71 bay. I bought it in 2011 from California for 5,000 us dollars ( £2 800). I then shipped to the UK. I love it.

Try living in Connecticut. We do have a nice club, also many events through NY, MA, and CT. RI, NH, and Maine-quite a few events. As for people to work on them...... That's a bigger challenge. However, an hour away is a classic car restoration shop. Family owned. VERY expensive but very good. Our Bus came from Texas. Owned by a VW Mechanic for many years. Had a shop out there check it out for me. Although engine, tranny, interior, body were good, we still ended up putting out nearly 20k more to get her %90 perfect. These Bus's are expensive. She's an Automatic with working cold air conditioning. I think I may have already written on one of your videos, but that was before we put the last of the repairs and money into her. Just got her back from the shop. Runs and looks great. I'll never sell her. I'm obsessed, but you know what that feels like. :) God Bless.

Nice video! As someone who also lives in the beach cities this was really helpful… you say “we bought a bus.” Do you have some type of shop or garage with a team you work with?

@@hunterluxton5976 nah , I bought it blind from a garage in West Sussex , they were selling it on behalf of a customer who had run out of money . I thought at £4k for a running & complete vw bus I couldn’t go too wrong but it arrived on a flatbed and the driver started it up and drove it off for me . I began a full inspection and quickly came to the conclusion that it must have had a restoration 3 or 4 years ago , cab doors were new , underneath was very good for a 50 year old bus and front beam was all ok . It needed drivers wing and step , just the step on near side , front deformation panel , couple of little holes in rear chassis , sills all good and outriggers all good . Really happy with it and all original interior too 👍.
Bargains do come along but you need to be really quick .

Great video! I just rescued a 1979 VW bus automatic. How much does it coast to rebuilt the 2.0 fuel injection engine? It was running at one point but ruff . engine turns . Trying to get as much information on these engines but there not a lot out there . Most people covert them to carbs . Thanks for your time . Keep up the great work on your UA-cam channel ! Alex from NYC

Hi Alex thanks for the kind words, well hard part about fi is having all necessary components, it’s a challenge getting them to run right when something even minor is missing and getting the part new or rebuilt is the next challenge. Try the samba.com you might have some luck on original parts. If you where local I’d say bring it in ! And congratulations on snagging a 79 automatic I guess we didn’t see that one online haha we try and buy them all ! Haha

Hi Bus Guy, My 75 type 2 VW bus......has some rotted outriggers near the jack points....which of course will lead to issues replacing the rockers........Can you give me some advice to proceed/fix or sell? Is it safe to drive this way? I hear many mixed reviews and need some solid opinions. I love Julius Squeezer! (my bus)

I have a rule. If it's not near me I'm not interested. I'm not going to truck all over the place, deal with pictures and video and sometimes shady people over the internet. If it's not close to me to where I can drive over and check it out I'm not interested. You'll spend time and money and 2/3rds of the stuff won't be what's advertised or the seller will be a scam artist.
