Another Nintendo Switch Lite - this one has no display. Can I Fix It?

- In this video, I've bought something else broken off aBay. This one is a Nintendo Switch Lite that powers on, has sound, but has a faulty display.
Turns out it also has a couple of stripped screws and some nice mismatched thumb-sticks!
Will I be able to fix it?

I think you should remember to unplug battery before you mess with anything else, I learned this by misaligning the ribbon cable and burning fuse in joy con.

left hand drill bits will usually unscrew the screw. The cutting edge will grab it and screw it right out. Got to run the drill in reverse.
You can try dipping your driver bit in some valve grinding compound. it's also called valve lapping compound here in the US. It's gritty so it helps fill the spaces in screw heads that are rounded out.
It's known by both names in the UK as well
This happened to mine while I was replacing the buttons too. But I’m not sure where the problem is from because I was really careful and made sure everything went back in it’s place
Hi Kate. It's possible that the backlight has gone, it can be quite common if ribbon cables are removed while the battery is still plugged in, but can just happen if one of them is not quite seated right on reassembly. Can you hear if the console comes on?
@@StezStixFix it turns on and you can hear everything and everything works, I just can’t see any of the display. There is light, but it’s not the display.
@@katepreiss2321 if there is some light, then it's possibly your screen. Double check the ribbon connector for the lcd screen if you can! Good luck 👍
That connector is available on eBay. And it is cheap, and replaceable
has this board ever been revisited? I'd bet that current timeline Steve would easily be able to fix that connector for sure :)
maybe a glue-gun will hold it in place although its not a delicate tool
I'd like to see as well. A coworker of mine encountered this and I was under the impression that a ribbon cable connector without a hinge would just need a complete replacement.

Is there a replacement for the clamp u broke or the board? Also this happened to me and the little black square that is left to the grey square above the clamp u broke, that went up in smoke for me. Could that be fixed?
i know this is an old video but that white piece connector you should of put the cable in and then put the white piece back on with it stood up in the unlocked position as it doesnt have the tension on it
This may scuff your pride a bit but Tronicsfix takes those apart regularly. (Good for hints)

good evening. my switch lite won't get passed boot and on the second ninendo it makes a pop and shuts off, but when I charge it it gets stuck on the boot screen til I hold the power button. any advice?
Hey Stez, I scratched the ribbon cable that goes above the battery connector when I did an LCD replacement. Are the ribbon cables that delicate? Could it be the cause of my Switch Lite display issue?

The same thing just happened to mine I’m so upset. I was fixing the right joystick, I followed the videos to a T. Put everything back exactly how it was, and now my screen won’t turn on but I hear sound and the buttons work fine.
Oh no! Migyt be worth ust double checking the ribbon cables are seated correctly. It can be very easy for one of them to be slightly out. Hope you can fix it.

Same happened to me. These repair men make it look so easy but I easy me and my butter fingers have the hardest of times put these little ribbon together,

@@yourmother139 I think i figured it out. These switch repair men don't tell you about the clamps you have to pull down on the ribbon cable connectors.
I've recently successfully replaced the more difficult of the two joysticks to replace (can't recall which one) but a few months later my nephew dropped it and now i've got backlight, sound from speakers but no image. Would this be an LCD or a digitizer issue?
Hi, I took my daughters switch lite apart because the backlight is not working but the console has sound. I found a ribbon that has a crack in it, do you know where I can purchase a new ribbon from? Thanks in advance.

Heck yes. Finally a stumper of a project.
So basically you "repaired" it by taking your good one, taking the board out of the good one and swapping it with the board in the bad one.
Thus breaking the yellow.
So you netted out NO GAIN from this.

Sometimes it takes more than a souldering gun and British pluck.
I swapped sticks on my switch lite wen I pu everything back it urns on makes noise but black screen no display any help.
I took it 2 guy that fixes gotta go Monday for it I hope he can fix it and I hope is not expensive

The problem with mines is that the shell is broken , everything works but I need to change the shell which I don’t have confidence to do

Can't you just recalibrate the joysticks? I've bought some old joycons that were a bit funny, recalibrated and they work fine now, didn't even need to clean them. Do people do it and never show in videos or people don't recalibrate?
