I dont see any reviewers ever cleaning the probe tips with alcohol. Plugging in another quality set probes would be fair to rule out the meter fault in continuity latching. BTW plenty meters dont have buzzer sound in diode mode and reviewers never show this, but here you did ))

  • @davidsaari77

I bought the exact DMM. It's continuity function worked a lot better with 'higher quality probes'. It isn't the multimeter's fault!

I just got this meter and absolutely love it. Great video, thanks. Had a difficult time figuring out how to use the Dual mode. The manual didn’t explain it very well, but your video demonstrated how I need to be on the AC range for it to show Hz, also. Bravo to whoever designed this meter, it’s great.

I receive mine unit and works very well for me, I don't need a 6 or more digits multimeter.
Speed is fine, continuity works very well.
Big and clear display is one of the best things in this meter.
I work fixing audio gear and motor controllers I have many multimeters and oscilloscopes, for Us$126 dollars this is a very good option in my opinion.
    Best Regards.

Fully functional bench top multimeters can be bought for under $500. High end meters can be bought bought for $1000-$1500. Including fluke and keysight.

A support/mounting bracket would be nice for this thing. It appears to be light weight.
Pushing the buttons would move it back or require two hands or a thumb/finger grip!

I somehow misunderstood the continuity test. I've been measuring this XDM1041 for quite some time now and have never needed to measure continuity this way. The so-called ringer is quite fast. XDM1041 is even faster than XDM2041, see Tony Albus test.

I own this meter, so I can confirm it is a great bench meter for a lab/workshop for its price. I stress the point.. 'for the price'. 150$ when the closest competitor
With similar features Is 500$ is an incredible bargain. It definitely has some issues but all are outweighed by the positives. The best feature is the screen.
Honestly I cannot consider going back to using a regular portable meter with a monochrome display after using this meter. It could get away with being a lot worse with that screen but it isn't. It's very accurate with high resolution. Top pick for anyone's workbench!

I'm flip flopping on this meter. I want one for the bench so I'm not deciding which of my millio other full size meters to use. I have a 20000 count owon that has slow latching until I bought a set of probemasters. Maybe the probemasters will make this meter sing. I check ohms and continuity alot and I like it to be snappy. What's your take on it being an owner? I'm really close to buying it or the uni-t u61e+ for 60cad less and a couple others. The uni t has way more input protection.

    • @danishdart
      @danishdart 2 роки тому +2

@@jstro-hobbytech This meter has a function where you can choose speed over accuracy. You can also choose manual ranging over auto. If you leave the meter on slow setting and it working it's way through the auto ranges it can be quite slow. I'm not sure that better probes will make a difference there. This meter is definitely a compromise but to get a better and faster meter in benchmeter formfactor you'll be spending 500-600 dollars.
Teledyne Lecroy t3dmm4-5 is definitely better but 5 times the price as an example.

@@danishdart thanks for the info. Probemasters make a difference usually. Even on cheap Chinese ones I can make the continuity chirp with them haha I thought the buzzer was broke previously. I have so many dmms I'm sick of having to pick between them. My goto for hobby stuff is an owon b35+ (garbage autoranging) and an old amprobe for household stuff. I collect them and cycle between different ones on my bench but I find there's never a good place for them amongst the real bench stuff which is why this big one is so attractive to me for the new workshop.

@@jstro-hobbytech The gold plating is the secret sauce for the probe masters. If you can get goldplated from a different brand they will work just as well.

@@danishdart no doubt. My wife bought me two probes as a gift and they were like 80cad. I never would've paid it and mine are not compatible with any of their attachments. One of them sets are like 250cad or more after duty. They are well built though I give them that. They're for professional use mostly. I'm just a hobbyist that messes with discreet electronic components circuits, coding and 3d printing. Retired at 40 gives me alot of free time.

    Life span or something ?

    • @SimpleElectronics

It just basically tells you the biggest number the display can show at once. so a 40000 count multimeter can display up to 39999 (not including the decimal point as a count) and to go higher, it would have to move the decimal and drop the least significant digit
