  • Born at Verona in the middle of the seventeenth century, Guiseppe Torelli was a musician of high standing, and above all, a virtuoso violinist ranking among the greatest. The honor of having originated the concerto was given to him.
Only the melody of the aria, Tu lo sai (Well thou knowest), has been taken from the collection of Old Italian songs edited by Albert Fuchs; the modernized accompaniment has been ably transcribed by Pietro Floridia. Because of its operatic type, concert and recital artists have in it one of ten most useful of the early Italian songs for their programs. It is the type of song that singers call "grateful".
Tu lo sai is an intense and passionate love song. It must be sung with feeling and with fervor, but there must also be a certain amount of restraint and reserve to bring out the full beauty of the melody and the meaning of the words.

she used those formatas perfectly 💕 so many students do this solo and neglect those when you can drag them out as long as you feel. she did this beautifully. great job.

Going to be singing this for a competition coming up in April. Just started the song but my music teacher told me to listen to others sing it. Super nervous and it's not even close to April yet!
By the way, you're really good at singing!

Actually, in singing you are supposed to stick with the first vowel sound as long as possible. Then, at the very end you add the last vowel sound, and she did that. She knew what she was doing. :)

@sillysara12nov Sorry for the late reply. :) In regards to breathing, just remember not to let your stomach 'collapse' in a middle of a phrase. Try to avoid sounding to airy as to not waste any air.
One thing that my mentor keeps on telling me is to just relax. :) Just feel good about what you're singing. :D

Amazing strength and great pronunciation. Only thing is on the "t"'s Italian is usually dentured. With a more "th" consonant shape. I love your use of the ritards at the end. Very nice fundamental performance!

Oops, one more thing, when you're singing it's best to keep your hands down at your sides, because when you move or lift them is creates unnecessary tension in your chest and neck.
    Again, though, fantastic job :)
