Catching kob or as the guys in Australia call them, Mulloway on paddletail, spoon, soft plastic or any lure for that matter is the most fun way to catch them. we caught a couple kob on paddle tail and a few days later we caught a few kob on spoon!

I have not seen Kob caught like that in many a year,Living in OZ for 20 years and have not caught any. Coditions are a lot different here. Enjoy your vids
Thanks. Unfortunately we only got the smaller fish bit there are some big fish to be caught. Doesn't OZ have a lot of kob? Or is it only certain parts?

You dont need the water to be clean...you wsnt colour in the water! You will catch a lot of kob in namibië on lure! Just do it! Just use darker colour lures
I feel lures dont work as well though, if the cob are thick and I'm tired of catching on bait, I'd try with lures, but only been successful once. There has to be something!

Thanks, i was using a amia kob special with a stradic 5k and 20lbs braid and throwing a keel spoon.

Big fan of lures and drop shot however I've only been successful catching leeries in Knsyna and Sedgefield and caught bass in Clanwilliam.
Biggest dream is to catch Kob on a lure/drop shot.
Do you know if I'll be successful in Langebaan, Saldanha and Velddrif area? I'll be moving there soon. Any tips on retrieve? I read and heard a slow retrieve for Kob is best.

Yes a steady slow retrieve close to the bottom as possible...in jokcobsbaai there is a little bay where you can get kob on paddletail on the high tide

Thanks...I use 20lbs mainline then a 2,5m casting leader and a 1,2m 0.65m mono on the end of my leader

What rod were you using
I've been trying for two years now to catch a kob in the surf with a lure. Have tried paddle tail, plug, spoon and no luc and I know they are there because mullet are being chased and people were catching kob? A caught nice kob with live bait just no luck with lures in the surf. I have caught lots of kob in the harbour at night with padddletail though. Any tips??

@@zoolookfishing Ive got the Amia Zero XH 11ft, would you recommend the stradic 5000 for the rod or should I be looking at something abit heavier, like a gosa 6000?
@@ech4247 both would do the job perfectly...if you get a gosa 6k it will allow you to do a bit more with the setup...like if you should ever visit angola or throw some small baits on the setup or hooking a large fishg etc..
