    I am blown away. You did so much with a little 10 gallon. Fantastic job. I need to do something like that with the ten gallon tanks I have.

    There's a 3gal sump inside the piece of furniture that holds the tank. Has a big sponge filter, and a Rio pump. The waterfall "ledge" is built of styrofoam and covered on cork.

    nice i started with firebellys got to love them now i am on to darts...
    4 years living in this tank i built... check it out
    they are now 9 years old each... dart frogs can live to 20 years under perfect conditions indoors, in the wild they would be dead by now

    I moved it out after about 4 months or so. It was doing fine health-wise, but it started looking kinda lanky. I suspect that it just needs more light than what I have in there. My initial concern was that it might not like the high-nitrogen water in the tank, so I planted it in a watertight container sunk into the main land-side substrate. Some of the frog water would always wick in, but apparently not enough to affect it. Either that, or it takes longer for high nitrogen to affect VFTs.

      Thanks! yes... the toads did fine with fish. If I recall right, a few small fish got eaten, but it was rare. I eventually had to dismantle this tank. Got "infected" with some black slimy algae that crept everywhere and I was unable to control. I was bummed. The tank survived almost 2 years.

    • @blackseaandothers
      @blackseaandothers 7 років тому +1

      Thanks for your answer... Sorry to hear about the ugly algae. That's my experience, too. It is difficult to maintain good water quality in the under water part in the long term, because of all the debris that gathers on the ground of the aquarium, in the corners, plants...

    • @bone9695

    Muy bonito, pero en todo eso ¿donde se esconde la parte mecanica? hablo del filtro y demas cosas para el filtrado y calidad del agua. ¿Es cesped como el de nuestros jardines? Me ha gustado su trabajo, me gustaria adaptar algunas de sus ideas a un proyecto de acuario que estoy construyendo

    Hi There. This is the most beautiful paludarium I've ever seen!!
    I've researched a lot since I saw this master piece, but can't seem to find information on how to make one like yours. I guess it's low maintenance since it looks pretty hard to change substrate and since it looks so natural :O!
    If you would write to me or make a guide on how to create this, especially the land part and growing plants in the top, it would really help me out. I hope you will answer, thanks :)

    Hola compañero. Excelente vídeo, me encantó. ¿Podrías decirme grosso modo como lo hiciste? Quiero decir, ¿donde conseguiste ese musgo? ¿Y las plantas acuáticas? ¿El fondo lo hiciste de poliestireno? Y por último, ¿cuánto te costó en total? (Sin contar precio de animales). Gracias de antemano espero que puedas contestar a tantísimas preguntas ajaja es que me encantaría hacer algo parecido para mis tritones :)

    amazing job with such small of a space, and everything in such great balance. im shocked that the fish do so well sharing water with the fire belly toad.. ive had several species of frogs, but always had to keep the firebellies by themselves because of the toxins in their skin leeching into the water.. still wondering how that is possible...that fish surviving with such little water to dilute the firebelly's skin toxins.

    • @marraeco8311
      @marraeco8311 9 років тому

      Creflo Jenkins The number of water plants inside should be dissipating the toxins from the frogs effectively.

  • @janedoe12287
    @janedoe12287 11 років тому

    So in order to do this so you won't kill and bother the living plants there has to be a filter of some sort correct? I love these and made half land and water before in tanks the water was so nasty and cleaning was difficult.

    Hi. What do you have as far as maintenance equipment? Do you have a heater and a pump as well as a filter? I am assuming that you have at least a pump for the waterfall. Do you normally change the water as frequent as you change FW tanks. I am very interested to know coz I am considering making over my 10G into a paludarium from being a FW tank. It is just not working with that setup for now. And also, do you have a false bottom? Or do you have a divider? So sorry for all this questions.

    Looks amazing! How do you keep the humidity maintained and what type of lid/top do you use on your tank?

    • @rumirunto
      @rumirunto  7 років тому

      Thanks. I made the lid. 1/3 of it was covered with fine stainless steel mesh, 2/3 with plexiglass with a whole big enough for the big reflector. In installed a tiny computer fan inside to recirculate the air. The moisture level would stay health just from the balance of evaporation and fresh air coming in through the mesh. Unfortunately, this tank only lasted about 2 years. Ended up catching some nasty black mold that I could not get rid off, no matter what I did. :-( I was a bit careless bringing bits of duckweed from ponds and such, without "sanitizing them" with a quick dip in diluted peroxide. That's likely how the killer mold got introduced.

    • @saurianscapes2805
      @saurianscapes2805 7 років тому

      Wow, thank you for the informative response! It looked amazing while it lasted though. Thats the good thing about making tank videos is that you can always go back and rewatch and visit your tank at its best. Great set up still. Are you planning on making more in the future?
