Monbebe's are a very respectful fandom. We don't judge, everyone has their own personal taste, Thanks for your reaction.
I suggest you check out more of their Korean songs for high energy (non disco) songs.
The album The Dreaming has much more to offer just give it a go.

I love this retro feel, because it's different for them. So if you're a long time Monbebe (like me) it is a lot more exciting because they are consistently trying different genres and concepts. This felt more like 80's pop then disco to me though. It's really fun and kind of refreshing to me after their No Limit album.

I get what you're saying about this, the rest of the album (cause this is a full album in english not just a single) is very good and a different vibe overall from You problem which is more "fun disco". But the thing with their english comebacks is they don't really have creative control over the songs (the US label pretty much decides everything) compared to their korean comebacks where quite a few of the songs on the albums or mini-albums are written and composed by themselves (I really want to hear an english album like one of their korean ones, with songs that they've written and produced). I guess the best way to get into the group and and get a feel for their music would be to listen to a few albums entirely, not just the title tracks, cause I always see reactors react to Monsta X title tracks and be like ok this is nice but then they listen to a few albums a long time later and they're dumbfounded at what they're hearing and the diversity of their songs and the image of Monsta X that they have built in their heads just completely changes, it always goes from a group that they like but aren't necessarily crazy about to one of their favourite groups almost immediatly. I'd recommend trying their Fatal love album or their Follow:Find you album to start :)

      @LandonMark  2 роки тому +25

Yes this is exactly what I thought. I feel like when they make some English songs they don’t have the most control (talking about most other groups as well!) bc they’re trying to fit the perfect western release. And that strips away some creativity in my eyes. But if you know this channel you know we do deep dives into albums usually. (Just been so busy with the holidays) but hoping to get into more in depth analysis at the start of 2022! 🥰🥰

@@LandonMark But tbf even though the english songs are "westernized" I do enjoy their english releases, especially with this album, I feel like we got closer to what kind of sound I'd want or expect from Monsta X with the b-sides compared to their first english album. Could also be interesting when you do a deep dive to see the difference between a full english album and a korean one. But hey I know it's time consuming and that there are a ton of other groups too, but it's ok you only just started your Monsta X journey we're not in a hurry so take all the time you need so that you can enjoy it!!! And in the meantime I wish you happy holidays!!! :)

Each to their own ☺️ We love it! Monsta X actually released a few retro songs in their collection before Dynamite was ever born, just so you know, Reckless, Rollercoaster, Middle of the Night, all have a retro flavour. I kind of feel like apart from the styling, You Problem is actually a little more 80's/90's resurgence disco pop rather than going for original disco disco sound, and the point of the release is literally just to be a happy vibey bop to help cheer up their international fans who have been struggling with the current world situations, the rest of THE DREAMING album is actually pretty incredible, so feel free to check it, my favourite tracks are About Last Night, Whispers in the Dark and The Dreaming. I doubt you would actually know this, but Monsta X actually have a long running time travel concept, and have always been known to have 90's and noughties sound woven in with their hip hop, R&B and EDM vibe, so for them to explore retro or futuristic sounds is not actually an anomaly. Monsta X have also always been known to be a group that has no limits on the genre and languages they create music in, when they were rookies they performed a lot in China, singing and rapping in Mandarin, and took part in Heroes of Remix which helped introduce EDM music to the Chinese industry at the time. So they have their fingers in many pies and experimenting with their sound is part of their artistic process. I think it's actually somewhat amusing that everyone has an 'issue' with Korean groups doing English songs in a way that sounds 'Westernised' tho, especially when Kpop is literally, for the most part, taken from U.S pop, and in particular African American music culture. The only differences is the language and some of the more interesting and chaotic production. Monsta X's range and diversity is unparalleled, they can do anything and everything, and do it well. I think if you ever choose to dive into them deeper with an open mind, you will be pleasantly surprised.

I love this song so much! It gives me Scissor Sisters I don't feel like dancing vibes, but I'm a sucker for retro feels! But idk maybe it's just cause I don't listen to much 4th gen groups or American pop music so if retro or disco is trending I wouldn't know about it but I always love when groups release retro style tracks!

  • @amor940

I totally understand where ur coming from regarding the disco concept considering the fact that u didn't hear much of their discography yet and also the fact that other kpop acts are using the genre alot . However for us the fandom , aka mbb, this is quite new and refreshing as Monsta x have been releasing eng songs since 2019 which had totally different vibes from their latest release: Starting from their single 'Play it cool 'EDM/house' , then ' who do u love' the title track of their 'all about love' album which is a traditional pop song to their b-sides which are even more diverse.
It would be nice if u listen to the rest of the album too 🥰 and watch their movie ' the dreaming' playing in theaters for deeper taste of their discography.
Thank u for the reaction, your genuine thoughts are always welcome 💞

Thank you very much for checking them again and for you honest opinion. I'm kinda get it what you telling about disco vibe, but this song is catchy as hell. You will be humming this eventually, there is no escape xD
It's funky and cute title track but rest songs of new album shows all colors of Monsta X. And of course their korean tracks sounds differently. But this is why i think they are so great. Monsta X don't stuck in one direction. They always trying to push themselves.
As for recommendations about more recent songs (because i'm sure everybody will mention the most iconic ones from the past) for my taste is "The Dreaming" and "Blame Me" from new english album The Dreaming, and "Mercy" from last korean album No Limit.

Monbebe is really respectfull fandom, it's really ok for have different personal taste of music.
This "You Problem" MV is part of their 2nd FULL ENGLISH Album THE DREAMING include previous "One Day" MV which have different vibes.
Their 1st FULL ENGLISH Album is ALL ABOUT LUV incude 11 songs and 4-5 songs have MV on it.
Their English music is under US label mainly for radio play so its kind of simple, meanwhile their Korean music is more complex with music sound concept choreo style rapp part not just for listeners but also stage performance for promotions.
Just try to dive into their other music cuz they have a lot more and let it flow.

Hey Landon, we never want you to be faking your reactions to a song, so RESPECT for you being honest about your feelings towards this particular song. It's really interesting to see it from your perspective because you've made me realise it would very much look like Monsta X may have been influenced by a song like Dynamite because you're experiencing the Monsta X music only very recently, and after the other music you've mentioned.
What I'm really excited about is when you delve deeper in to Monsta X's music and see their evolution; you'll come to realise that they have been releasing english covers, english collabs and full English albums (and dare I say, I have yet to see anyone outdo them), way before it was 'popularised' by the likes of BTS. And I don't mean this with any disrespect, but one can argue that Dynamite lacks originality as it does not have the BTS sound or flavour that we love them for.
Please do listen to more Monsta X, Korean and English if you can, I promise they won't disappoint.
    My suggestions would be:
    • A Monsta X guide is a great starting point
    • A title tracks marathon
•Their 1st english album (3 of the songs have MVs as far as I remember 🤔)
•Some B sides that have MVs like "Find You", or have storyline links, although i appreciate that may make things more complicated! But I would highly recommend you listen to their B sides even in your own personal time, as you will come to appreciate their versatility when you get the full picture, that's where their magic truly comes through.
•Some covers like "Versace on the floor" that showcase their vocals further.
Nevertheless, I appreciate your reaction. Monbebe are a very chill fandom, mature and grown (kinda like Monsta X's music lol) and no toxicity, it's all love! 😊💙

The reason while it reminds you of Dynamite is probably because the same person that wrote, compsed and produced this song wrote, composed and produced Dynamite too.
You should check the rest of the album - The Dreaming and also their first English album All About Luv which has a different vibe then this one and you may like it more.

It's okay, you have alot to discover with Monsta X. Their Japanese albums goes hard and soft as well. Their Korean have hard hitting beats esp title tracks but the bsides are gems. They have alot of collab or ft as well. They even have a song with Snoop, How We Do 🎶 for SpongeBob the movie.
For me I love this song so much. It's so catchy and the "It's a You Problem" is such a fun lyrics 🎶💃 and Monsta X rarely do cute, fun, soft, retro funky song, so it's very refreshing for us. I also love it coz it's not disco, DISCO. It doesn't makes me cringe. So it's good. ☺️

You wouldn’t be one of my favorite reaction channels if you weren’t honest, so thanks! Monsta X is only soft on their English title tracks, and those are few and far between. Hearing I.M and Joohoney sing is a huge treat for me (and maybe others), especially after just seeing them perform this live. The song that embodies MX the most is hard to say, but songs like Shoot Out, Beautiful, Gambler, Kiss or Death, Wanted, and Love Killa are a good start. No one has released a full English album, let alone two, like Monsta X. They have a vast catalog, you can pick anything and not go wrong.

i appreciate the honesty! this song is different for them too, i'm sure there were quite a few monbebe that were put off with this song (i truthfully didn't know how i felt when i first heard it but it grew onto me). they have another english album called "all about luv" and you'll most likely appreciate that more! truthfully i believe they're doing a retro sound because that's what's popular in western music at the moment. we really do prefer when reactors are honest. there's a lot of reactors that aren't honest because they cater to the fans and it's refreshing to actually see someone give their honest opinion. monsta x has hundreds of songs so you'll most likely find something that'll be more your tastes. their english music is different compared to their korean music, their korean music is more heavy with edm and experimental sounds, along with r&b. check out "beautiful", "jealousy", "follow", "fantasia", "love killa", and "gambler". i do recommend being careful as sometimes love killa gets copyrighted, and their english and japanese music (as well as live stages) can be copyrighted as well, so maybe upload them with a filter with some text over it saying "copyright" to avoid getting striked if you plan on it! their korean music is usually fine to react to without strikes.
their recent album "the dreaming" is a masterpiece. loving the reactions. i noticed you said in your last monsta x reaction that you're more drawn to rapping. i recommend their debut "trespass", "hero" that came out shortly after as well. and more recently "shoot out", and "alligator". oh, and how could i forget? "sambakja"! be ready to be blown away if you check out sambakja. or, if you really wanna, check out chaena's group guide because it shows clips of their songs that show their sound more. subscribing for more monsta x!

As they say often when other members or people disagree with something, respect! Everyone has their own opinion, their own tastes, likes, dislikes, and Monbebe understand that. We won't judge or be angry, I personally like the honesty and the gimmick has been pretty overdone. When I first saw the trailer, I immediately thought Platonic Love by Snuper and obviously they weren't the first to do it either. It's a cute video, I love to see them having fun but they definitely have way more that's more their style.

  • @2FullMoons
    @2FullMoons 2 роки тому +9

I respect your opinion but I personally don’t even feel like this song sounds that retro... it’s mostly the visuals that give the certain aesthetic but for the most part, they managed to do this sound in a refreshing way that can stand the test of time and not feel outdated in a few years... idk. Their previous album which came out at the beginning of 2020 also had a retro inspired single called Middle Of The Night so I would argue against the BTS comparison as MX approached the sound first. They also had quite a lot of success with that album, debuting at nr. 5 on Hot 200. Maybe reacting to this after Rush Hour and not knowing their previous music doesn’t paint you a fair picture of their general sound and their american sound so your opinion is not the most informed as of right now but hope to see more reactions in the future! :)

I definitely agree! I suppose that they did this purely for promotional purposes, since their leader is currently in the military. Monsta X is very versatile when it comes to sound, once you hear a full album. Though they do have an overall energy to them that's very aggressive and intense and epic. Ever since their debut, most of their tittle tracks have always been very intense and with an 'in your face' kinda feel. I personally love their album, The Connect: Deja Vu. I’m just checking out your Monsta x videos, so apologies for the late comment! but fun fact - the similarities between “You Problem” and “Dynamite” are noted because they have the same producer!
That being said, I like to think “You Problem” was the promotional single from The Dreaming album because of its Top 40 appeal. It also makes me sad that they don’t show their Korean sound in their western releases because, I agree! I wanna see their color show… I don’t want to see them sip the kool aid lol.
Anywho, you’re hilarious, and I’m genuinely loving your reactions. I will say the b-sides from The Dreaming are 🔥. BUT id also recommend “middle of the night” from their first all-English album, All About Luv :) it has more of an r&b feel, which I think reflects more of their sound, though they are a very versatile group that experiments with their sound a LOT, while still reflecting that Monsta x flavor :)

Clearly this song is not the essence or the soul of Monsta x, what could surprise is that the rappers are very good at singing and that this song belongs to the second album of the only k pop group that so far is making two albums Complete in English, regarding "rush hour" we can see the energy that Monsta X always shows on stage, in addition to making references in the choreography that their leader "Shownu" used to do, who at the moment is fulfilling his military service. I imagine that people who already have time following them can see these details and why despite knowing them they still surprise us, there are key points that represent Monsta X, for example here we have one of the best rap lines in the k -pop industry, one of the best main vocalists or as we call him "king vocalist", better visual lines and his choreography so aggressive and soft at the same time, not to mention that sometimes one of the rappers "IM" who writes songs with double meaning xD , or the iconic phrases of the other rapper in each song, they are quite multifaceted, I could recommend some Mv's that I liked a lot about them, we have "Alligator", "Follow", "Find you", "Stuck ", "Hero", "Dramarama", "UR live performance", "Gambler", "Secret (live version)", "Jealousy", "Spotlight", "Kiss or death" among others... I hope this can help you, and once again thanks for opening space for "Monbebe" name of the Monsta X's fandom.

I get you, but you are a very funny guy because as much as you are trying to say you don't like the retro feel of this song, or was trying to compare them to BTS Dynamite, which if you were a Monbebe you'de know they would never try to copy or compete with BTS, you were sitting there grooving & dancing with the song like you liked it. I'm not trying to throw hate your way, just listen to more of Monsta X's other songs so you can understand them. Rush Hour is more of the Monsta X flavor than this song. Plus during this whole reaction, I hope you noticed, cause you didn't mention how great their vocals are, specially the falsetto parts. Jooheon, your "magazine model" is the main rapper of this group, & him singing in falsetto on this song shows his great diversity. Kihyun has one of the best voices in KPoP. KPoP is not disco. Monsta X is not disco. KPoP music is music that includes all types of music, that is what is so wonderful about it. Yes, there are quite a few groups that have done a retro style song, specially in English, to break through in America, because here in America it seems they don't want to truly recognize true KPoP music. Aside from the devoted fans of various KPoP groups all around the world who truly know & follow their music. Monsta X has so many great & beautiful songs, they work really hard, their vocals are amazing, their choreos are great, they have achieved a lot in America, & The Dreaming is their SECOND all English album. No other KPoP group has done that. Give them a chance, listen to Trespass, Rush, Jeoulosy, Beautiful, Calm Down, Guess Who, Beastmode, Fantasia, Follow, Gambler, Perfect Girl, & Love Killa.

I don't blame you because you seem this before from others. But this is their English comeback. 2nd eng album. their 1st album was All About Luv was nothing like 'You Problem' for us this is totally different from them. 🕺💃 It's okay for not prefer this kinda song cause you heard a lot. They have so much different vibe of songs. Like totally different.. people asking you for this big jump. Instead going on the flow.

don't get me wrong, i love the song, it's so different from monsta x and that makes it beyond enjoyable but i think the team chose the wrong single, i personaly think that About last night was a better option

I dearly love Monsta X, but this isn’t one of my favorites, either. Don’t give up on them, though! They have so many great ones besides this!

You should definitely check out their full english albums. But you are correct this really isn't their style. Their korean albums are more their sound. Check out FATAL LOVE korean album. That is monbebe (fandom name) top of the top album.

I really didnt like this song when it came out, mostly because of the production on the vocals but they eat it live and make it so fun and silly that its grown on me

I absolutely love MONSTA X but I don't love all their songs. You are totally allowed to not like something but your whole attitude was very dismissive and aggressive. Be honest. We appreciate that as fans but always be respectful. I personally don't think you were. I stopped watching during your rant about K pop and doing retro music. If you don't like it at least give them credit for their talent outside of the genre.
