I bought the 45 as soon as it came out, which begins to explain my ultimate collection of about 25,000 records from the 50s and some 60s. (I sold them a few years ago.) I always liked turning the record over to hear the B side. Elvis in particular had some great flip sides. I was blown away when I heard this flip of "Don't Take Your Guns To Town". It's a fantastic song that I rate the best of all great Johnny Cash songs. Dave Reynolds did it proud.
I sure do miss Darrell. The artist today is not even the same. Sometimes I wish I could find a time machine and go back in time. Life was much easier and everyone enjoyed life! Is this your favorite from Darrell?
I like that he as a man is singing this. Seems like sometimes only the woman is left crying. But then, there's Willie Nelson's Blue Eyes Crying in the rain. Legitimate yearning in a man's heart touches my own.
This is a very difficult song to pull off. Not because it’s complicated but because it’s so simple. Darrell turned it something so much greater than it ever was.
Masterful, and not just Darrell Scott...there are two others here whose hearts are beating in time with his. So many good covers of this excellent song, and this is absolutely top-tier.
What I would give to see him playing this. The minors and 7th that he just tosses in make it my favorite version. I could listen to Darrell's instrumentals all night. Thanks, David.

I first heard this song by Flatt and Scruggs in the 60's as my daddy loved that bluegrass. I heard it years later in the early 70's by Linda Ronstadt and then learned it was a Cash song. I am a new Darrell Scott fan, but I like Ronstadt's version better. Darrell Scott is someone I think I would like to buy a beer!
I sure do miss Darrell. The artist today is not even the same. Sometimes I wish I could find a time machine and go back in time. Life was much easier and everyone enjoyed life! Is this your favorite from Darrell?
Nah, it's not. "Absolutely the best" is subjective so I respect your feelings, but Kottke does it better, Cash does it best, This is good, but not as good. A little too whiney for me.

I miss someone, yep” this song brings me right back, doesn’t even know Iam alive, guess things just happen that way” ❤❤❤
A good musician can replicate most any song; great ones make them their own. Brilliant.
With all due respect to Johnny Cash...I couldn't agree more! Darrell Scott breathed new life into this song.
Very Soulful performance of a beautiful song, Darrell is way better than anything you will hear on the radio these days, keep it up brother.......
I love Darrell's version of this. I still miss someone.
Darrell Scott is our Walt Whitman. Our true blue American songman. I have loved this song for all 25 years.

Men are more sensitive than women are. That's a lost fact. Women are just more emotional.
DS - the most haunting voice I've ever heard, amazing writer, and beautiful playing.
Very good cover of Johnny's song. This guy has got soul.
he wrote it.
This is a very difficult song to pull off. Not because it’s complicated but because it’s so simple. Darrell turned it something so much greater than it ever was.
What a talent. You know when Robert Plant wants you in his band you’ve arrived. Splendid cover
I have always loved this song and have waited 30+ years to hear someone do it the way Johnny Cash intended for it to be sung.
Yes, the best version of one of my best favourites.

Nice version. There's a video out there of Rosanne Cash performing this song at a memorial for her dad and it is likewise an amazing version.

No such word as “dued”.

excellent.
a very resonant vocal
This song is very David Allan Coe like but he's got his own sound and man its tugs the heartstrings.
Johnny Cash wrote this song with his brother Roy. Darrell does it justice.
R.I.P Johnny Ray Appleberry
Damn!
NICE MAN !! WOW
ja heerlijk nmr en lyrics naturaly
ja hahah , zag dit net staan.. per toeval.. xxx!
I still miss someone...
Don't we all.......
Kottke's is still my favorite--but Darrell nails it in his own way.
Where can I hear Kottkes version? He's one of my favourites.
I believe Lester Flatt was the writer on this one. But agreed DS is the man
good good. ...not best...but good
Greetings from IRELAND 😉 salamat
I thought BOB DYLAN wrote this.
+Joe Werle johnny cash wrote and recorded this in 1958 a few years before bob dylan came along

Joan Baez version is a smidgen better, as good as this one is.
Opinion.
She's dead now, but I still miss someone
